Surely packed concourses are just as bad as a train?

I'm not having a go. I'd likely do the same. It's just weird how we pick and choose.
Yeah the Kop's shit facilities actually helps for once but all other stands it's normally rammed in the concourses and of course toilets. Might just get in early to avoid the big crowds.

My wife has Chrohn's and is immunosuppressed so for her sake need to be careful and on holiday the week after! However after mixing with 1,500 kids for 9 months then not sure this will be much worse!

I also think some will leave early a lot of games for the same reason and whilst I am generally not a fan of that and never got why people left early, I can understand if for this reason people do.

I think the face mask thing will be a surprise to some who have not been in big crowds yet.

I work in a School and thus have been used to wearing them for 9-10 months but was surprised at attending my first sporting fixtures the last few weeks.

I have been to a few cricket matches and was quite cautious and wore a mask as I was on the concourse/going to the toilet etc, basically moving around. I did not wear it in my seat I must admit but had only my son next to me and a few spare seats around. The Lane will be full-ish of course

I literally barely saw a person wearing a mask both seated and moving around though. I was surprised. They told us to wear one on the move but noone did all day in/out of seats. So I kind of protected others but was not really protected properly myself!

Looking at games recently on TV, you see noone with a mask on and I would expect it to be the similar at the Lane next week with small numbers wearing which might be something some may want to consider.

Suppose you could go in really early and leave early/wait if it concerned fans but the concourses/ stands I expect will be full of mostly non mask wearing fans I'd expect from my experiences so far of going back to Sport.

With no restrictions on entry (vaccjnation status/symptoms and also timings/entrances) and bars open it will be the same hurly burly it used to be I expect. I think for some it will be odd being round thousands of peoole and right next to people (no social distancing) without masks on but don't see how it won't be with no limits on crowds.
Donny away end was full and barely saw anyone in a mask.

Wouldn’t wear one if you paid me my ticket and beers for the day.I’m sceptical how much use they are anyway .But won’t get into all that deep crap on here. However I Wouldn’t dream of looking down on somebody who does want to wear it for the game. It’s personal choice.

Can't go on Saturday but double-jabbed and would wear a mask getting to my seat, but not while sitting down (unless I discover someone from the COVID thread was sat next to/behind me ;) )

I think the main takeaway from all this is that it's personal choice. Everybody has the right to choose to wear one or not. BUT, if there are people who are having a go at others for wearing a mask then it needs to be made clear to them that it's not on.

Not much of a concourse on the kop 😉

I didn't hang around on the concourse at Donny, got in early and went straight to my seat.

Having said that as I understand it the mask doesn't protect me anyway but I'll always wear it in packed indoor areas to protect others.
A piece of cloth doesn't protect anything and that's science .

A cloth face coverings holes are 5000 times bigger than the virus , professor axon who advisers the government on this has said they are comfort blankets and that's all .but if it makes people feel safe then that's the comfort they need ,if you want safety a ff3 mask is minimum .

As I said, a mask doesn't protect me but it will HELP protect others.

I know that it's not full protection for anyone but the difference between me sneezing into a mask or sneezing into the atmosphere is blindingly obvious.

I am not a season ticket holder, had 6 jabs and I might be going to the match.

Cant really see the point of wearing a mask in the ground ,99% wont be. Had to wear one for the Burnley game and found it awful ,I understand people being apprehensive but honestly cant see them doing any good. Personal experience is I caught Covid wearing one in a supermarket , so dont really see their use , however I will mask up out of respect to others in certain environments.

We’re at the point where we have to test if the vaccination strategy holds water or not. We are the guinea pigs for the world.
DID YOU KNOW?
B56... Guinea pigs ain't pigs and do not originate from Guinea. South America actually.
At one point, one of these creatures may have cost £1, 1 shilling.

I had a Guinea pig that originated from Castle Market called Snork ,it ate through the fridge cable and electrocuted itself about 50 years ago.

I am on holiday, shouldn’t be but everything been pushed back for us, I know I can get it on sky where we are, the wife might not be to pleased though🙄🙄

Turning into a bit of a covid thread this one..I probably did not help with discussion about masks. Oops! Suppose it was about who was jabbed/going/not going so kind of relevant...

It is interesting that some are steadfast about not wearing as they have listened to a certain scientist or report. You could easily counter many with evidence that say they do help.

Just depends what you read/believe I suppose?

Don't think anyone can say 100% they definitely do or don't help really despite some being certain they are a waste of time. My personal feeling is whilst I cannot prove they will protect me, they won't make things worse necessarily if I wear one still in busy places/transport/congested indoor spaces for a period for now.

Interesting that I would say on trains and supermarkets from my experience more are wearing than not wearing but in a crowded, cramped concourse/toilets (not the Kop which is outdoors) people mostly would not wear? In seats is a bit different of course as outdoor.

I won't criticise those who do/don't, it's personal choice. My concern is that those that wear will get comments. I hope my fears are unfounded.

Not renewed with the season ticket but I'm hoping to go to the game v Birmingham with my young daughter (buying the tickets online are proving a bit tricky mind) and I've had both jabs. I'm planning on going in BL upper tier, looking at the stand map there's plenty of spaces there to social distance, so that's where I'll be sitting.

This week I've been to the cricket at Scarborough and Stereophonics at Scarborough ODT. Didn't wear a mask at either and was okay with that. Went supping around town yesterday afternoon on a stag do, then around Bawtry at night. Not quite as confident without the mask on there.

sitwell Was it Ogden’s pet shop outside Rag-n-Tag market at bottom of Dixon Lane? If it was I bought his brother Tiggkes, he’s still going strong.

That’s where the sick ones were sold, health ones were in Maces t’other side of woolies under castle market frontage.

Mace's or was it Middletons 🤔 it wasn't healthy after the fridge episode though, shocking.

Had both jabs
Had Covid
Going without a face mask.
Going for a few pints before, will be nice to get back to normal. I think it will be a cracking atmosphere
Snap! And a few pints after all being well!

If it's not a ff3 mask it doesn't protect anyone
Sorry, are you saying it offers no additional benefit against any virus or bug whatsoever?
If it offers 1% benefit on containing colds, flu or any other bug I don’t see the issue in doing something to help others when taking my seat and also save the economy a fortune.

Was STH, not going because busy, jab status is none of anyone's business, probably at Carlisle game

I will be on the Kop, without a mask, trying not to get too emotional as we belt out the Greasy Chip Butty song, whilst remembering how good we we're the last time I watched us play (Norwich at home - apart from the first 10 minutes against Aston Villa I haven't been able to watch ANY football without fans there - it's just so wrong - lucky me eh?!).
Will probably take my mask with me though and use it in the toilets at half time should I need to go.
Bring it on!! And . . . . . . COME ON YOU RED AND WHITE WIIIZZZAAARRRDDDSSS!!!!

If you hang around in your seat after the game, clap all the players off and have a bit of a post match chat, then you’ll swerve the crowds. It’s much more civilised than the 85 minute hustle.

I am sat near Gangway G and I hate early leavers hanging around the gangway for a few more minutes. I hope stewards will tell them to move on

Yeah, it’s always been the way. Blades win a late corner and the traffic beaters all grind to a halt in the aisles. Si’dahhn! :)
