The crazy thing is there are no restrictions at present for pubs/nightclubs etc yet come September the Govt could well make it that you need both jabs or a very recent clear Covid test to enter such places.
Horses and stable doors spring to mind.

That's been their way of doing things since it all began.

Shut the stable door after the horse has been made into a Findus crispy pancake.

Both jabs but clinically extremely vulnerable so I'm undecided especially as some will take advantage of the long drinking day. Trains back to Leeds after 10pm are not as frequent as they were due to the timetable changes apparently including no EMR train to Leeds as it's been dropped. Stupid KO time with no consideration for away fans. Why couldn't it be 7pm or 7.30pm?
Or 3pm

I'll be there fully jabbed and not wearing a mask.

Went to Tramlines last weekend. No masks worn there. Atmosphere was brilliant and people just kept a respectful distance except in the most pit.

I'm 62 and feel we've just got to get on and learn to live with it. If people want to wear a mask then I've no problem with it but please respect others.
The key word; respect. Seems to be something that people no longer want to do.

Surely packed concourses are just as bad as a train?

I'm not having a go. I'd likely do the same. It's just weird how we pick and choose.
Not much of a concourse on the kop 😉

I didn't hang around on the concourse at Donny, got in early and went straight to my seat.

Having said that as I understand it the mask doesn't protect me anyway but I'll always wear it in packed indoor areas to protect others.

I'm aiming for xcountry at 10.20 ish and then it will be a taxi from Leeds as the usual last train doesn't run on a Saturday for some strange reason.

I'll be there. Jabbed and unmasked.
My personal view is:-
1 Masks as worn by most offer zero protection to themselves or others. Once damp they're useless and should be changed regularly.
2 Its way beyond time for herd immunity to be the general goal. Anyone not jabbed up has had ample opportunity. As soon as everyone has had a dose of this awful virus the stronger we'll all be collectively going forwards.
3 if you're vulnerable, best stay away to protect yourselves.

On the mask front, I’ll wear a niqab if I feel the need. It’s no business for any passing gobshite to comment on.

But it’s quickly feeling fairly pointless as a meaningful covid measure in certain venues. At one climbing gym I go to it’s been made optional and probably 10% of folk wear one. As soon as you have that degree of buy-in it’s a marginal gain within an already marginal gain.

Looked forward to 3pm k/o but now it’s 8pm I doubt I will travel that far.
If I lived in Sheffield I would be there with mask ready if needed on tram.

2 jabs, 1 season ticket & 1 mask will be attending with me.
3 of those 4 things will definitely be put to use.
Presuming the bars in the ground will be open - do we know yet?
Assuming they are, will probably get to the ground early, have a couple before it gets too busy then grab an early seat.
The mask will probably be used in the bogs only.

Had my second jab yesterday and a season ticket holder.

I’ll be there and I cannot fucking wait. It’s not just the match I’ve missed it’s the full day experience.
Wake up, excited dump
Bacon butty
Walk dog
Pub - as many pints of moonshine or farmers blonde with the lads as I can fit in
Walk to the lane and sing heads off.

watching soulless fabless football for almost two years has made me realise more than ever it’s the day out with my mates and the atmosphere I enjoy more than anything. Love football but it’s shite without us.

Exactly. For the last 18 month the players have been thinking it's all about them.

annoyingly im on holiday on that saturday. so ill have to watch the 1st game on sky, so i was happy it was picked.

but i wouldve been going after 1 jab & but would had the 2 jabs by huddersfield

Season ticket
Recently recovered from covid was quite ill tbh had to spend a little time in hospital, no jabs no mask will deffo be attending.

I only realised this morning that I’m out for the day something booked a few months ago, can’t get out of it and can’t see me getting back in time

FFS 🤬

New timetables in operation so just checked. The XC is at 22:25 arriving Leeds 23:27. Northern have a train setting off at 22:18 arriving Leeds 23:14. The only issue I guess will be what time the match actually finishes; should be 9:45/9:55 ish but could be later maybe. At least we won't be hanging around for VAR decisions. Brummies have a last train at 21:57 so at least any of them using the train should be clear and away - unless they're so pissed they miss it! So disappointed there's no EMR at that time. My other concern is the amount of booze that both sets of fans will be getting down there necks - could be trouble

Are we allowed? Has anyone asked Boris? We might be back in lockdown before the weekend knowing this Govt. I'm jabbed and planning on going with my muzzle at the ready.
Yes, Birmingham given 2,570 tickets. Non season ticket holders can apply for match tickets. Looks like 30,000 fans can attend. COVID passports planned from October

Northern at 10.18 looks like best bet then.

Wonder why xcountry one takes so long.

Edit: just looked. Xcountry goes via Donny so couldn't catch it with my cheap ticket anyway.

I’ve had both jabs but I have a health condition so I plan to watch on SKY or SUTV till mid / end September when it should be clear whether crowds at football matches are causing Covid to spread.

By then many more 18-25 year olds will be jabbed or double jabbed and passed the following 2-week period and so be less infective. Unless of course we’ve back in lockdown 😟

We’re at the point where we have to test if the vaccination strategy holds water or not. We are the guinea pigs for the world.

I’m missing out as I’m at a wedding do. I know of at least one other Blade going so we’re going to watch it on my phone if we can get away with it.
