Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

He walks us this league. That’s how highly I rate him. Against Donny he was so ridiculously overpowered, he resembled an U23 playing in an U12 game.

We walk nothing. Championship is a long hard slog which not everyone is cut out for. He massively improves our chances but he's also been out a long time and he won't have a proper pre-season under his belt (nor will any of us).

Ecstatic if he stays but let's not get too carried away.

Football has moved on, especially in the loan market. The PLelite have to do their business and then loans trickle down the football pyramid
It’s actually always been like that with regards to loans for the top, in demand options.
It only isn’t the case when you have someone like Lampard at Chelsea so both the players and club are happy to decide early.
Every player is going to be hoping they make the squads, if they don’t then they’ll want to see all the options and pick the best. If we were looking to take a couple of 17 year old unknowns I’m sure it would have been done.

Hyperbolic maybe, but I don’t see another midfielder in his stratosphere. If he stays, stays fit and is properly utilised then he’s a cheat code in virtually every game. The Championship is traditionally a slog, but the standard has dropped off a cliff in the last 2 years. The games I watched last year were appalling, and COVID has nerfed most club’s ability to strengthen. Barnsley and their ‘style’ of playing nearly getting them promoted tells you pretty much everything

Starting to think they both stay for the time being. If this happens fair play to the board, clearly we have a better chance of promotion with these two in the starting XI.

However, will no doubt get sold in Jan if we arent in with a shout of promotion, and definitely go in the summer if we don't go up.
Agreed. The board/Prince have also shelled out for a top manager as well to be fair.

and if they do either of the things in your second paragraph, we can’t really complain.

There were some muddled press releases out of chateroux this summer (probably due to the translation) about them hiring a new scout who said he was looking forward to working across the United world group but it seems that our and beerschot’s recruitment is still headed up by Mitchell and van winkle respectively at least this summer as neither club has seen a change in approach.

All the rumours and links for us have been exclusively domestic apart from the lad from Peru. A cohesive and joined up scouting network should in theory be a benefit of United world but thus far there’s no evidence of it yet being in place. In truth we’ve yet to see any benefits from the United world project other than negotiating the commercial deal with yelo and that’s something that has to start changing pretty sharpish imo. Ultimately progression in sport is linked to securing competitive advantages and currently United world hasn’t done that for us. The project should be starting to move out of its infancy now and there’s been precious little interaction between the clubs.
Recruitment at Beerschot has been very underwhelming this summer and we are not ready. Lost our first home game against poor opposition. The 2 major transfers of last year turned out to be 2 flops. Alarm bells are ringing at our side.

Based on last season no one is going to pay 35 miil for Berge at moment. I've only seen highlights of Donny game but based on those and posts on here if he stands out in the Champ as suggested then PL clubs may be happy to pay 35 mill in the JTW. Let's hope predictions come true in which case we may be well placed by the JTW to persuade him to stay or survive without him and to have a replacement lined up (or even one of the young lads).

Yeah I’m starting to have the nagging feeling the required level of funding isn’t there to properly underpin a 3 team system if we aren’t in the prem I hope I’m wrong.

I wonder if the idea was that united would provide the initial capital to buy promising young European and South American youngsters loan them to beerschot and to a lesser extent chateroux and then either sell for a profit or bring them to the prem like with Coulibaly this raising the fortunes of all the clubs. However whilst ever we’re not in the prem the funding required to execute that kind of strategy just isn’t there

Club released a 20min video on Berge's rehabilitation today. Lot of effort if they're not confident of keeping him

Ben White £50m to Arsenal

Got to mean Sander and Ramsdale are worth the same! Sander the more experienced international. Accept no less.
Ben White have just come off a great season Sanders come off a terrible injury prone season
Ben White is English hence why potential cost nearly 10 million more than a 28 year old established at the highest level Real Madrid defender
Sander is not worth more than 20 mill at the mo and even then that’s generoud
Rammers England’s 5 choice with potential maybe 25 up

know there different types of players but still wouldnt be suprised if villa took a punt on berge if grealish goes
They will have plenty of cash to spend. They've kind of replaced Grealish already with Buendia / Leon Bailey.

The thing I'm holding on to with Berge is to other clubs he's not worth £35m. He's not done anything yet to suggest he's that value.

Hopefully we can keep him this season and he proves to clubs he's worth it by getting us back up.

Other clubs wouldn't have to pay £35m, at least not initially. Even discounting how most deals are structured i.e. over several years, I'm sure Utd would be open to a deal that includes performance based incentives, thereby reducing the risk for the buying club.

I dont get these financlials, £35m for Berge £40m Rammers , £12m Coulbially on the back of a covid depressed market? or play all of them and get £300m promotion to PL and perhaps another second season bounce?

if he helps us get back up i doubt he will be going anywhere if i were slav i would be trying to keep him while january at least and if were not challenging agree to let him go for say 25m

Why would we do that? If he has a minimum fee release clause, by all means they can stagger the payments but that won’t include performance related fees.

We’re playing hardball because we want to keep him. And we absolutely should be.

Because the player wants to move on and the club needs to act in order to address the shortfall in revenue next season (despite what you may hear to the contrary).

The release clause is a red herring - if a club offers that, Utd have no choice but to sell. They can of course accept lower offers and/or structured offers if they wish. They may well include performance related fees.

Do you really think the club will retain all its main assets beyond the end of the transfer deadline?

In answer to your final question I think the answer is “ yes, quite possibly “.

You don’t know the player wants to move on. And in answer to your question, yes I do.

My opinion is simple: Berge has had a serious injury, hasn’t shown his fitness and even if he scores five goals every game cannot get more expensive, so no one is paying £35m for him this summer.

United don’t want to sell because they want to go back up, so won’t accept a penny less.

therefore he stays. I await being proven wrong, which obviously I could be at any point in the next two months haha.
