I don't know whether or not you rated Adams before he came here, but I would say Wilson's managerial record is at least as good, and arguably better.
To the best of my knowledge;

Adams has more promotions and, I believe, less relegations. Wilson has taken 3 teams down. With Adams, appointed a few times as a fire fighter, relegation only followed taking a team to promotion above it's station - at the point of us hiring him.

When Adams came his team was in a promotion place. Wilson resigned before he took Swindon to relegation.

One of his promotions was with Leicester after he was able to keep their premier league squad together in the days before 10 point (or more) deductions for going into administration and failing to pay your way. Contrast that with Wilson getting Barnsley into the premier league without being able to keep a squad of premier league players together.

I think it gets very difficult when you start dissecting the manor in which they got teams promoted. Either way, I'd argue Adams track record was much stronger. I'd have to conceded that our subsequent relegation weakened that point. Whatever, recent form prior to appointments would make the replacement of Adams by Wilson a complete farce.

Possibly pedantic, but Wilson has only taken one team down - Milton Keynes Dons. He was not actually manager of either Swindon or Wednesday when the sword of damacles fell. In Swindon's case, I think had he stayed it is far from certain that they would have gone down, although with their better players gone there was a pretty good chance. However, the fact remains they were not in a relegation position when he resigned. Just as we weren't when Adams was appointed.

Do you think there's enough between them to justify replacing one with the other, with the added spice of the kick in the balls to the more tribal element of our support?

You can frown on the inevitable protests that will follow, but you can't argue that they weren't obvious.

At a time when the club were desperate for a united front, I can't think of many ways that McCabe could have done a worse job.

Elsewhere I've read suggestions that McCabe is actually trying to ruin the club from a property angle. A few years ago I would have laughed uncontrollably at this. Now it at least merits a small thought.

In all honesty I wasn't squirming with excitement. I'd thought he do the job and keep us up though, as Adams said today 'in hindsight.'

I'll say this come match day I'll not shout or grumble, I'll try and enjoy it, but tomorrow, I'll let my bitter disappointment at the people at the helm of this club known, thats my right I'm a paying customer.

It is indeed your right and of course you should exercise it. I trust, though, that you and the other carpark warriors won't pretend to speak for anyone but yourselves?

Football has changed alot since Barnsley went up. Wilson has done NOTHING since worth getting the job at one of the big leauge one clubs.

Gutted is not the word.

Unless you live in a tiny bubble, It's pretty clear that they'll be speaking for a vast majority of United fans.

I'm not trying to argue that Adams should or shouldn't have been sacked. The fact is he was, and it now appears that Wilson is to be our next manager.

What I can't understand is the unwillingness of people to give Wilson a chance. He's not even our manager yet and people are already calling for his head!

With regard to their records, there isn't much to choose between them. Adams has now had 3 relegations - Us, Leicester, and Brentford. He also didn't exactly tear up trees at Coventry or in his second spell at Brighton. He did well at Port vale, and got the promotion he should have got (given his squad) at Leicester, and also did well at Fulham, getting them promoted.

Wilson did well at Barnsley, got Hartlepool promoted and I would argue did very well at Swindon and their decliune was down to other factors than him. It went pear shaped for him at Wednesday and he failed to revive Milton Keynes fortunes. His record at Bristol City was neither good nor bad. Two play off finishes, but ultimately didn't get them promoted.

Not much to choose between them, but if my son is telling me the truth, Wilson's sides are far more pleasnt to watch than Adams's sides!

I can't speak for anyone else on the protest but I speak for myself yes, thats why I'm going, I'll also be representing my father and my step father, who are against the appointment but can't be there due to work obligations, I'm lucky enough it's on my day off.

I've emailed the club at [email protected] expressing my dissapointment

I actually said "Danny Wilson? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Hope it works lol

Maybe we should all flood the email address before pen is put to paper

I've e-mailed 'em too on the lines of , It's an insult to the fans, a proper kick in the teeth and suggested THEY JUST DONT GET IT

I'll wager that we'll not get chance to see that. No crystal balls needed here.

It's not about the way the world should be, you have to deal with the way the world is. McCabe has just lost the plot.

Just lost it? Not when he declined Blacko's resignation? Not when he appointed Quickfix Micky? Not when he allowed Quickfix to bring in Dinosaur Dave?

IF (and I say IF as nothing has been announced yet) Danny Wilson is unveiled tomorrow, would people genuinely expect a protest to reverse the decision?

Yes, with the protest taking place in about 6-8 months time when we are stuck in the bottom 6. Count on it.

I can't wait to see some of the justifications put forward for this appointment if it takes place.

He might of been interested until he realised we wouldnt pay his wage.
We have no choice but to go cheap, we have no money, we are in league 1 we cant attract expensive managers.

I'd have pushed the boat out to sign him. A good manager = promotion and that would pay back any money we were paying him. There are ways of structuring his bonus so he gets the money he wants but he has to get us up. Lets face it, as HH says whilever McCabe is at the helm we are doomed to failure, the man is a joke if he considers himself a Blade.

By the way Blades, Mendi is a Middlesboro fan so well done for being gullible

Brownie makes the Sun

The sun newspaper that is. I'm not suggesting he's an ominpotent being with the power to make stars :)

DANNY WILSON will walk into the eye of a storm when he is announced as Sheffield United's manager today.

Blades fans are to gather in a Bramall Lane demonstration this morning to register their disapproval at the appointment of a former Sheffield Wednesday player and boss as successor to the sacked Micky Adams.

Lifelong United follower Nick Brown organised the protest last night after learning that Wilson was expected to be unveiled as the relegated club's FIFTH manager in nine months.

Within half-an-hour of Brown posting his plan for a demo on Facebook, more than 150 Blades supporters had pledged their backing and were promising to boycott games and return their season tickets for next term.

Good i am glad he made probably the best selling news paper, it shows we have been take seriously and find this appointment a joke.

You really think I care whether you deem me an arsehole? Water off a duck's back during a thunderstorm. I've set out clearly what the hypocrisy is. For the dim, I'll repeat it.

Will you brave crusaders demand the sale of Piggy Maguire? Will you insist on Piggy Geary's career record being expunged from the records?

Will you concede that we ought to have hounded out Quickfix Micky and Dinosaur Dave from minute one, instead of waiting for our shameful exit to Division 3?

You run with the crowd, mate. I'll think before I write.

Hypocrites.

Top, top posting Pinch lad.

They spelt 'non-renewing scum' wrong and put 'lifelong follower' instead

;)

Lovin it - top stuff.

All this from Brownie, the bloke who accuses me of ridiculous over-reactions and a failure to post balanced views.

Hypocrite, part-time Blade - Mr Brown.

Gentlemen... I have noticed that when people are failing to come up with an eloquent way to voice their displeasure, they tend to start lashing out at each other. I have already issued one infraction for personal abuse in this thread which, as the perpetrator's third, has prompted an automatic week-long ban.

This forum welcomes all opinions if debated in the right spirit. If you are too angry to post without abusing fellow Blades, then I would suggest that you stay away before you are given no choice in the matter.

And with that out of the way, I have absolutely no idea what the thinking is behind this appointment. Whoever got the job was going to be under a great deal of scrutiny after last season's merry-go-round and by appointing Wilson, the board haven't done him any favours whatsoever. The list of candidates was disheartening enough, but it was a chance to unite the fans and stabilise the club and this opportunity has been over-shot by a long, long way. I won't be in the car park protesting, because that isn't my style. But I'll be listening with interest to what possible justification can be put forward for this kind of appointment.

As for the protesters, it's up to them. But if McCabe and the board are willing to make this decision in the first place, you'd think it'd take more than a few dissenting voices at the out-set to change their minds.

I shall get photos.

Do we have anyone from our side who will go into the press conference and ask the real questions here?

Can you get out of work?

So don't have a sneaky pop at someone that is willing to take time out of work and is willing to to down and cover it for your benefit.

No doubt Linz will have to make that time up again later.

Sorry if it came across like that, wasn't mean to be a sneaky pop. just the way it comes out at times when things like this turns you into a keyboard warrior.
