The other rumour going round on Facebook is that he's taking legal action against the club for mishandling the injury. Hopefully bollocks.

Two scousers who couldn't be more different , Lunnycunt & JoC.
One deserves nothing good and will probabaly earn a shedload sitting on a PL club's bench.
The other deserves everything good in return for his efforts andyet will probably never play professionlly again.
Life is not fair.

If they were so different then why are they best mates ?

I'd not be surprised. We carried on playing him when he was clearly not 100%.

Unless the management team purposely withheld information from the player, about the seriousness of the injury, then I can't see how any player would have a case, provided he agreed to play without any form of coercion?

Then again, it would be about right that we end up in court again, especially if it's an opportunity to cast a shadow on a rare period of success.

As I said in a previous post, please let all this JOC speculation be, just that, speculation. After last season's negativity, I need nothing but positives this season to cancel it out and cast it from my memory.

“I don’t want to speculate but here’s to two paragraphs of speculation” :)
Its probably not speculation actually and more fact so that word is used wrongly really from me. He has been out for almost a year and not clearer to a return so normal to be concerned about when/if he will return. Its weird we've heard nothing from the club for 6 months about him too. No update. Nothing.

We heard stuff around February ish didn't we? Wilder saying we wouldn't rush him back but it'd be a few weeks/before the end of the season hopefully, videos of him on his trampoline and whatnot, and then he had his set back, then it was radio silence.

What's slightly baffling is all the way through this there's been virtually no communication from the club on what the situation is. Usually when players are out fans have an idea about what's going on but not in JOCs.case at any point.

Is the radio silence an indication that there is some potential legal action as mentioned earlier in the thread ?

It's 2021 FFS, medical science has moved on a bit from the 70's when players played without knowing they broken bones. The medics involved would have known the seriousness of JOC's injury immediately and the risks from continuing to play.

Only pulling your leg DB.

and indeed, concerning lack of updates. Does feel like there’s some truth to the rumours. Although I wouldn’t want to speculate :)

Maybe having no permanent manager has caused this? Perhaps when Jokanovic is in place, he’ll provide an update?

Not saying we couldn’t have just had an update without this, but it might be some sort of explanation.

I’ve had it on reliable sources that the original breakdown between the board & CW was JOC

Bettis wanted the OP when it happened at villa away wilder wanted him to carry on
But joc didn't play again until the first match of the following season.

Always looked like they were surprised after that wolves match that he needed an op and that his recovery hadn't worked in the summer.

Think the breakdown was many things but on joc I think wilder really wanted a better replacement for the season and was told no.

Jack O'Connell. The most professional & talented player at the club. Easily our best player & biggest asset when fit. My biggest compliment to him would be to say he'd have easily slotted into England's team last night at LCB and probably have been an upgrade on what we had. It would be an absolute tragedy for his career to end now. I really hope this isn't true. What a player he's been for us.

... to go even further, the second it was announced he was out for the season I knew we were gone. That's how important of a player he is to this side.

Wouldn't he sue the surgeon/consultant ?
Unless there is professional negligence cant see him suing anybody,All patients sigh a form which usually says no guarantee of a 100% success.
It's something we all have to sign whether a professional sportsman or not.
Any medics on this site I'm sure would confirm this.I did when I had my knee operation.
Hopefully Jack will be back sooner than later.

The annoying thing is that he could have had the operation when the season restarted, but someone decided it wasn't necessary. Then he effectively wasted the whole summer recovering because as soon as he played again it was clear he wasn't right. Easy to say with hindsight, but whoever made the original decision got it badly wrong.

As far replacements go, we decided not to gamble on Kongolo (rightly as it turned out), and then Ben Davies openly stated he didn't want to come here. After that ... ??
A bit like when the Swift bid was rejected we seemed to just stop looking and "go with what we have".

That kind of approach to getting replacements in rings true with the “only had one target in mind” method of recruitment which the prince highlighted as a source of frustration when wilder left.

He looked pretty miserable on the ‘lap of honour’ after the Burnley game, I noted it at the time. However it was understandable as he’s hardly played and we’ve gone down so he wasn’t likely to fist pumping all the way around.

It's certainly not inconceivable as CW had Ramsdale as his only option to replace Henderson - he didn't want the Turkish GK.

It's also been seen under previous regimes - Adkins went to the Board ahead of the JTW with only one name on his list - Dan Burn.

We are now having success with stem cell treatment. Blood is taken from the patient and stem cells genetically engineered into knee cartilage the injected back into the knee

so if it is a cartilage issue who knows maybe a revolution in treatment of the knee

See also Nigel Clough and Shaun Barker?

I'd forgotten about Barker. According to Wikipedia, 0 games played from 2012-2016, then 6 games in 2 seasons before retiring. 6 games in 6 years! And he was a right back 😂 I'd love to get some insight from JimPhipps on that conversation with Clough!

Yeah if the prince has called that out then he’s right to do so as it only ends in tears ultimately.

Barker was a centre half but your point remains. Those final 6 games, by the way, were for Nigel Clough's Burton :)

Bit of a Rob Hulse mk II moment really, looking back.
