The last I heard of Barry Hartle he was in a care home in Stockport. He was suffering from severe dementia. A friend of mine met Barry's son there early last year. It didn't sound too great so I was wondering if there was anyone who knew any more up to date. Barry played on the left wing for United & was the successor to Ron Simpson. Anyone under 65 stop here! He was a skilful dribbler with a decent turn of speed & could centre accurately - a bit in the Len Allchurch way. Len Badger's passing away brought these old memories back to mind. By the way all the talk of heading a football causing dementia I don't recall Barry ever heading the ball in anger! He was a winger you see -- things were simpler in those days.
