God's country ...... Rovrum!
Micky Adams and Kevin McCabe had their meeting this morning

Has anything been announced yet on R.S. regards Mickys immediate departure? ;)

Come on! I expected all the itk'ers to already know what went off before it even took place! :D

I for one hope he stays and clears the decks.

Incidently, he has accused a number of players of being cheats. By that he means they've cheated the club. He says some have gone, some haven't.

The Star: http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/blades_cheats_1_3363063

Exert from article:

MICKY Adams, the Sheffield United manager, has launched a stinging attack on some members of his squad ahead of today’s summit meeting with plc chairman Kevin McCabe.

Adams, whose relegated side waved goodbye to the Championship with a 4-0 defeat at promotion hopefuls Swansea City, appeared to suggest that personnel problems behind the scenes have contributed to the South Yorkshire club’s demise.

Despite refusing to identify those concerned, Adams told The Star: “Ever since I’ve been here I’ve been having to fight fires. And often people.

“Some of those have gone. Some are still here. But I’ve got no time for those who don’t take their profession seriously. Who cheat. I know that is a strong word.

“I’ve tried to do something about it. I won’t have people doing things that, as far as I’m concerned, are to the detriment of this football club.

“I’ve tried to be honest and open. I’m not one for sitting on the fence.”

Adams, 49, is scheduled to meet McCabe, United’s major shareholder and most influential figure behind the scenes at Bramall Lane, to discuss what, by his own admission has been a “difficult” campaign, this morning.

Seemingly unsure of whether those talks will mark the end of his turbulent five month reign - “Mr McCabe will set the agenda. I’m not going to prejudge what might be brought up” - Adams nevertheless repeated his desire to remain in post despite seeing United slip to 23rd.

“Do I want to carry on? Absolutely,” he said. “I want to be the person who restores our fortunes.”

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers, whose side face Nottingham Forest in the play-offs after finishing third courtesy of Saturday’s triumph, backed his beleaguered counterpart. “The word I feel is so important to the future of Sheffield United is stability,” he said. “They need to ensure Micky is allowed the job of transitioning the squad from a Championship to a League One club.

“And, with their fantastic fan base and the manager’s passion for the club, I’m in no doubt they can follow the example of Norwich City and grow again.”

Edit: I think the thread title should have read Pow Wow. Apologies

Someone told him they were good Professionals...

Cheat? What does he mean by that? People cheating the club of a wage perhaps?

i have it on good authority that the dressing room was split down the middle between the full timers and the loanees and came to blows on a couple of occasions :-/

I'm almost glad to hear this....

no decision for the next few days Seth Bennett has just tweeted.

Doyle and Collins were bad signings but if you watch them they did give there best it just wasn't good enough
in League 1 tey could do very well next year and be key players.

He's made a pretty successful start already.

Flippancy aside, the biggest barrier facing Blackwell when he was told to change things around was the squad he'd already got. Largely workmanlike and without pace - we would have continued to give him dogs' abuse for lack of progress had he not got the bullet when he did. Speed did very little to alter it (out of his depth). The piss-off factor is that Adams has hardly inspired us (as I thought he might) and this now means he starts from behind the 8-ball. The comparison with Basset's relegation doesn't stack up for me - he had at least instilled some fight and passion (too much in the case of Wally Downes against Leeds and Huddersfield) and I don't recall too many having doubts that he was the right man to try and get us back up.

Do the BBC not drug test their employees? What's he smoking?

Stability is key, if we've learnt anything from the past couple of years then hopefully McCabe will keep this in mind

Follow the example of Norwich? Does he mean United should give the manager who took us down one match in the lower league before sacking him?
It's very doubtful Norwich would be in The Premier League with Bryn Gunn as their manager.
It wasn't their "stability" that rescued them it was their bold decision to make the change and back a promising young manager instead.

I wonder who hit MA to leave him concussed since January.

That's all well and good if the board and McCabe are capable of making the correct decision in who they appoint next. History says they'll learn nowt and appoint the wrong fella again. Cheap options and all that.

I know it'a a gamble, as is always the case when making the decision to appoint the next manager, but frankly we are shit at it!

If Speed had stayed and got us relegated (which I think there was a very strong possibility), would McCabe be looking at sacking him? I wonder just how much money he's happy to piss away on compensation (relegation clauses notwithstanding).

Bennett says McCabe wants to canvass opinion at Bramall Lane before making a decision on Adams' future. I think he's a gonner.

I agree. Adams' whole demeanour is that of a dead man walking, and when a manager tries shifting the blame onto the players, there's no way back.

Regardless of what the decision is, he's had enough time to get a feel for the mood inside (and, if it counts, of the fans), he's known what's coming for a while now. If it is right there is a decision being made then delaying just sends the message he isn't 100% behind Adams, so agree it doesn't look good for him.

Rumours of a press conference and sacking are doing the rounds... but even the person who mentioned it to me says they don't know if they believe the person they got it from.

Alternatively, he's put up with the shite since Christmas becaus he didn't want to publicly rock the boat in case it affected our survival attempt, But now he's just had a case of the "feck its" and has come out fighting

McCabe just been on SSN about the meeting with Micky and his future at the Club.

The reporter pressed him saying "it will be all sorted by the end of the week, the supporters will know"

McCabe said "probably, these decisions need thinking about, I need to sleep on it"

Wat's it got to do with McCabe anyway? I thought Birch and Steer called the shots these days??

He didn't do much sleeping before getting rid of Neil and Blackie...
