I don’t think he would of came if he wasn’t given assurances about having a big budget or retaining key players (expect berge), which is good news.

Crucially for me, I doubt Jokanovic would have come had he not had reassurances that he would have control of transfers. Yes it'll be a two way process and presumably Slav will have to work hand in hand with the board/Van Winckel, and that will mean being open to their recruitment, but crucially Slav has the last say. That's my guess, because the Prince did say that also (in terms of the next manager), but Slav got burned at Fulham with little/no control of transfers, especially the £100m that was spent in the summer they got promoted, Slav voiced his concerns at times publicly at the lack of control he had, so I would presume this would have been of paramount importance to him also in deciding to take the job. He doesn't come across as a patsy to me, to use the phrase Chris Wilder used!

Even 75% of the control Wilder had must be attractive to most hands on managers.

Many of our fans were saying “there’s no way we can buy these players....it’s a smokescreen...we simply lack the ambition to buy some of the top young talent in European football” Less than 12 months later its “why did we spend so much money on these players and pay such high wages”

Now regards the manager it’s “theres no way we will appoint Joksnovic...he’s too good for us and we won’t meet his wage demands”
I’m hoping he doesn’t turn into a dud because most of our fans will be saying “it was obvious he would be poor...we should have stuck with Hegginbottam”

Have to say well done to the board. I think we all had a feeling that we would end up with Hecky or a lower league manager but they have delivered by bringing in perhaps the best (and probably most expensive) realistic option. Fair play. I assume they have assured him backing otherwise he probably would have turned it down.

You’re right, whoever is announced there needs to be a poll, for future reference.
