Sad for the 'True Blades'

Shoreham,
Your words would hold more water if you hadn't at the time been so keen to pour scorn on what was being said.
Ironic who ends up looking the emptiest vessel and with virtually nothing to say.
Here, have a jelly baby.

It's not that I poured scorn on the words, merely that they were on every day, sponsored by wesaythesamestuffeveryday.com

You can only get excited by Clarkson driving a shagged Alfa across the desert so many times. After that it's just a middle aged dusty bloke saying the same stuff every day.

And sadly, those fans who bought season tickets are now likely to get royally done over.

Not a chance. I can give a cast iron guarantee that I'll get £300 of value from my season ticket next year. As Shoreham says, you don't have a monopoly on knowing when things aren't right, but it is your right (as you seem to want) to feel desperate about every twist and turn that the club makes.

I think for your own sake you're better off in Meadowhall anyway.....:)

It's still more sackcloth and ashes then.

We know United are shit. We know United are run about as well as the average banana republic.

We just don't take the same perverse delight in telling all and sundry just how correct we are all the time.

Why not go out and get a little sunshine on your face lenners? Rather than telling us all how correct you are all the time.

It's nothing new. Take a day off. Have some jelly babies, or a lollipop with a joke on the stick. Zooms are nice. Look at some lambs in the country, or go for a walk in the park. Smile. Try it, you might just like it.

This is the answer, from Sheffield's greatest living singer/songwriter:-

How to be happy in a sad, sad world
It’s incredibly easy
And to tell you will please me

Go caravanning in Clwyd or Dyfed
Order a pizza and have it delivered
How to be happy in a sad, sad world

You should be thankful for your lot
The friends and neighbours you have got
But what if you live in Sarajevo?
Yes, well, fortunately we do not

Visit a friend in a home or a hospice
Go to the zoo and say ‘Boo!’ to the ostrich
How to be happy in a sad, sad world

Then again you might not!

Missed that one, is on Dave later?

Are you a Jehovah's Witness... because this is precisely the sort of doom and gloom stuff I'm used to getting from them.

Compare "Join us in our fun-free lives just so we can be one of the anointed few when Armageddon comes round... you can't say I didn't warn you" to "Join me in being bloody miserable and not having a season ticket next season because you're going to get mugged - you can't say I didn't warn you."

The JWs might be right. You might be right Len. But seriously, is that any way to live your life?

I quite enjoy the experience of going to matches. Having a laugh with my mates. Hopefully watching United win. And no amount of miserablist postings from you Leonard is going to change that!

I understand that you, me and everyone else gets enjoyment out of going to the Lane in some way shape or form. What gets me is that you seem to have no concept at all of the potential of the club. I believe you said you were happy to see us relegated so you and your mates can enjoy things more with fewer people there. Fair enough, i can see from your viewpoint what you are getting at, but when Adams gets it wrong next term it will not be pretty and you'll be amazed how many people feel sick to the teeth about SUFC but who still want to go and have abeer, watch 90 minutes, laugh at the ineptitude and then hae a few more beers and a laugh after the game.

Hard to believe how divided the fanbase is and hard to believe we go into a new season yet again with huge doubts about the manager.

What gets me is that you seem to have no concept at all of the potential of the club.

Just because I don't bang on about it every day in a miserablist way doesn't mean I have no concept of the potential of the club. I go to a lot of meetings in an attempt to make the club realise its potential and value its fans and fanbase. Most nights last week I was at the Lane doing something or other to bring the club to the fans in a way that the club itself seems incapable of doing. It's only something small, but hopefully to some it makes a difference. Whether it works or not is not through want of trying from myself.

But I know my limitations. Me not buying a ST or sitting there miserable that I've bought a ST will not change what's happening on the pitch. So thanks for your concern Len but how about this? I don't need your concern thanks :)

Aye, she was that made up she had tears of happiness in her eyes at full time, at least I think thats what they were.

What I don't understand is how everything has to be so black and white?

Personally, I'm absolutely gutted we've just been relegated to the third tier, I find it astounding the we can have fallen so far from such a position of strength (although we aren't alone in this phenominon).

Like you, I think our club has massive potential, if fulfilled in the right way.

Yet, I went for a beer on the way home and a chat and an attempted laugh with other Blades. I got up this morning and went and had a kick about and a laugh with other Blades. I'm already looking forward to Swansea next week and all the shitholes we'll be visiting next season.

This doesn't mean I'm happy we're in this situation, I just fail to see why I should only stick with them through thick.

If not throwing abuse at those in charge every waking hour or choosing to renew my season ticket means I'm part of the problem, I guess I'll just have to be part of the problem.

I must take some of the blame too. Enjoying myself outside the pub yesterday with all those others!

Tsk

Missed that one, is on Dave later?

Much like a lenners post it will be on later. If not today or tomorrow then definitely before the end of the week and repeated many, many times more. We know that a Mercedes McClaren is quicker to Oslo than James May and Richard Hammond - we just don't need to see it every five minutes.

The most amusing thing is that some fans get more agitated about someone pointing out what was going wrong, what the outcome of the decisions being made would be, than they are with what is actually going wrong.
There's probably some psychological, shoot-the-messenger label for it.
Have another jelly baby.

I know, we never did get promoted under Warnock did we Leonard? We should have listened.

Hello, and on tonight's show and repeated on Dave until the end of time, Sheffield United in Run Badly Shocker!

Some say he's happy when he's not.
And that his ears are made from recycled fanny flaps.
All we know is......
He's called The Len!

And on that bombshell, on next week's show, Sheffield United in Run Badly Shocker!

But you point out everything even if it isn't going wrong. The likes of you forced Warnock out , continually slagging him off when some of us realised his worth to the club. The trouble is by shouting the most often and the loudest you think you are the 'voice of the fans' and your gang are becoming so tedious and boring that when you have a valid point it gets lost with every repeat.

Hard to get more black and white than assuming people don't enjoy a beer and a game of football and can also express justified disgust with the top brass of our beloved club.

I couldn't give a toss if you enjoy grinning and bearing it, chin up stuff - we've all got a million more important things to think about than SUFC. Disappointing you assume otherwise.

It's fun watching people now contending they knew all along how badly run we were.
Are these the same people previously falling over themselves to find excuses for it all?
Shurely not. Jelly babies alround.

Totally agree.

A favoutite line of mine was - paraphrasing - 'at least we aren't in the same boat as Charlton and Watford who got relegated with us.'

Next favourite is the Donny are under-achieving line of argument.

Except for I'm not the one doing the assuming. Do you think my pint after the match was all back slapping and a jolly good celebration?

Lenners, you've got your way of trying to make a difference, I've got mine. We both apparently want the same thing don't we?

Now, while you enjoy creating a camp of "right all along", about this Warnock getting us promoted thing?

But no one ever said they were under acheiving ,just that some us hate them because we are Blades. Its just we don't feel the need to slag the club off at every opportunity why does this bother you so much ?
Anyway you carry on with your obsessive Donny wankfest and revel in our relegation. I'll carry on supporting Sheff Utd if thats OK.

Foxy, I'm not indulging in another run-through of Warnock's failings as a manager beyond reminding you that you or I could have got us promoted if we were given 7 years to do it.
Though I would like to point out how fabulously funny it's going to be if QPR end up in the play-offs.
When it comes to making a difference, the first step will always be to acknowledge what is wrong, what mistakes have been made, to be honest.
I get a feeling that you're beginning to appreciate you've been sold one too many pups by McCabe and co and I'm hoping you continue your journey, to coin a phrase.

Okay, we'll put the "we'll never get promoted under Neil Warnock" under the carpet for good then :)

So that's at least the first steps dealt with then, I'm hoping they continue to the next stage of putting them right, starting immediately.

I get a feeling you haven't even yet made it to amateur psychologist. Still the offer of a pint is still on before or after Swansea if you fancy basing your thoughts on something other than speculation? :)

Unfortunately Foxy, my points weren't based on speculation, they were informed, sensible and sadly all too accurate.
As for you believing that statement represents the club recognising real responsibility for what's happened, that's a pretty gobsmacking interpretation.
Perhaps you have a little further to go on your journey than I thought.

Hard to believe how divided the fanbase is and hard to believe we go into a new season yet again with huge doubts about the manager.

I think we saw just how divided the fanbase is when the whistle was blown yesterday.

Leave it out Sitters. What a truly pathetic post. I think people did say that (either exactly that or words to that effect). Why would any Blade 'hate' Donny Rovers? You're re-writing history pal.

Most nights last week I was at the Lane doing something or other to bring the club to the fans in a way that the club itself seems incapable of doing.

Firstly, how dare you go to to the Lane and try and enjoy yourself. Secondly, why oh why do you go to the Lane and actively try and do something for the common good?!? ;)

I hate Doncaster Rovers ,there..........with a fucking passion actually. I actually don't like any other club apart from Utd. And I never said they were under acheiving ,total opposite they are massively over acheiving for a small-time,smug , big mouthed club. Next season they will finish bottom of the championship (admins excepted) ,I will wager anyone. Pal.

I know, we never did get promoted under Warnock did we Leonard? We should have listened.

And if we'd have adopted their season ticket sales marketing policies, we'd have had bigger crowds that them for the last 5 years.

If only we'd taken out that full-page advert in The Star - all of the troubles the past few years could have been avoided...

Thanks Alco.
That was one of the things the club got right after they were encouraged to shape up on the marketing front.
I'm sure you'll agree it's very sad that they're ruining all the previous efforts now.

Sadly for you they did advertise in the Star and they did adopt much more imaginative marketing campaigns, including quid a kid, cheaper season tickets, a wide range of concessions on match day prices, free season tickets for kids, cheap tickets for students etc, etc.
All helped increased crowds and kudos for the club for following sensible advice even if it did take them time.

Or alternatively, attendances have broadly followed success on the pitch the past decade and effects of all the above are fairly moderate...
