Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

Is Berge bezzie mates with Haaland or summat? I don't see why the top clubs are supposedly so keen to have him otherwise.

Could well be true. But visiting the site and reading the original JF article seems like a french HITC. 🤣

25mill plus any up and coming midfield that may not quite ready for Premiership but will tear up the Championship. Of you go Bettis, go find that deal.

Doubt that very much and if it is in anyway true Bettis should walk
That’s ridiculous. If putting a lower relegation-dependent release clause in there was what it took to sign him, then that was what it took. The lad is rightly ambitious, and when we signed him it didn’t look like relegation was a probability anyway.

Don’t agree because relegation was always a possibility and a guaranteed loss on a player is something that should not be entertained.

dont think he will be going anywhere till the new manager comes in can still see cash plus a loan player coming to us in any deal

The window doesn’t open until 9th June. It’s 18th May.

Can we assume there’s any truth at all in reports that bids have been made, and rejected, let alone in the sums being quoted?

There’s nothing to stop offers being made from club to club and negotiations starting before 9thJune as long as there is no contact with the player without his club’s consent

Completely different player but in answer to your question probably £15-25m.
Agree with that, Balham.

On the face of it, Pereira offers so much more in terms of goals and creativity but the reality is that he is a completely different ‘type’ of midfielder to Berge so comparisons on price can’t be drawn.

There is sufficient smoke around now to suggest that Arsenal believe that they need a player who fills the role that Berge does in the midfield - an essentially defensive midfielder who can break up play, dribble and recycle the ball to more creative/attacking players in the team. The only relevant comparison on price, therefore, is the value of other midfielders that perform the role that Berge does

The fact that Pereira offers goals and assists is irrelevant to Arsenal’s pursuit of Berge. It seems that Arsenal are not currently looking for a creative goal-scoring midfielder, but when they do turn their attention to that commodity, they (in common with all of the super-rich clubs) are likely to set their sights higher than the likes of Pereira or Buendia.

As we know, rightly or wrongly, when it comes to those key attacking roles, that’s where the ‘Big 6’ tend to push the boat out for the top end ‘proven’ established internationals from France, Spain, Germany etc. They don’t often take a punt on the top performers from Championship or yo-yo clubs - although perhaps they should.

Given Arsenal’s failed attempts to get buendia and rumours they need to sell to buy this could rumble on for a long time if it ever actually happens.

You never know, it might help. The best way to respond to those kind of rumours is to prove them wrong!

Potentially but they’ve been run like a joke for a while now. Not saying it won’t happen but I don’t see them stumping up the cash quickly think they’ll drag it out

Hope they can’t pull the £35M together.

Cash plus players maybe ? If Slav fancies any Arsenal fringe players !
As ever UTB!
Chambers should be the first one we ask about.
He would be a level above in our league and in a position we’re really short of cover while also needing to replace Bash and he can play in a 2.

There’s zero evidence that Berge will tear up the championship. Bettis will need another selling point.

Arsenal have a history of offering peanuts as an opening offer . 35 m has been bandied about for Berge I reckon 27 to 30m is not unreasonable to aim for.
All players values are based on what clubs are prepared to pay. We paid 21 plus bits for Brewster and had our pants pulled down. Arsenal think we are clueless based on that. Just tell them come back when your serious.
Look at the crazy fees Newcastle have forked our for players.
Arsenal paid 60 m for Pepe so are just a clueless

we have a history of taking the first offer of peanuts.

I don’t think we are in a particularly strong position as he’s clearly going to get sold at some point this summer. Our Best hope is that there’s a few bidders to drive up the price
