I remember Don Revie saying that Peter Larimer was the best taker of corners apart from Alan Woodward of Sheffield United.

Our corner takers could learn a thing or two that's for sure. Seem to remember (my era wise) that Cotts could take an excellent corner. Not seen any as good since

Yes I had them all as well they got lost when my parents split up.
I have even looked on ebay to buy them all again but wife put a stop to it lol.
I had to compromise and bought this instead and yes it does have Woodys corner taking skills in.

Not just corners, free kicks as well. Against Leicester curled a brilliant free-kick around the wall and Peter Shilton boxing day 1970. great at set-pieces.
Not many better than Woodward.

Agreed - from the right hand side he used to cut across the ball - in effect making the ball go straight as against out swinging.

Quite surprised modern day footballers don't practice this and do it - he could drop a corner right on peoples heads.

Pure quality - pretty decent penalty taker too.

I was in the stand where the tv cameras were

I was there, stood on the BL end.When that went in, I jumped and the top of my head went into the jaw of a Man U fan stood directly behind me. He bit his tongue and there was a bit of blood.
I’m rate hard me.
I think we went to OT the next and lost, could have been on TV.

You never knew what was coming with Woody's corners he could curl them in or out from both sides by using his instep or outside of the foot. Also he varied the pace at which they were delivered some were hammered across dipping in front of goal. With legs like tree trunks this was all pretty effortless to him.
