Even the lack of goals from corners (not just from us) hasn't been helped by the new contact rules in how defenders win free kicks most times when they go down in the box, same with free kicks when crossing the ball into the box.

Even look at VAR disallowing goals from corners due to attackers being penalised for making barely any contact with defenders.

At Ewood today our corners were slightly better as we dropped the "bunching/starburst" tactic and had our players more spread

I guess "the numbers" and "probability" give us no choice though. Presumably they say our best chance is to just go straight into the box. Even with many corners in quick succession, when the opponents know what to expect. Don't trust your eyes seeing a man in acres of space and an easy 2 on 1. No, be a robot and trust "the numbers", or be severely punished

It’s frustrating. We had a lot of corners, some were effective and dangerous, pressuring the keeper.

But the JLT, the corners and freekick crosses are too predictable as well. We needed to mix things up at times. Catch teams off guard a little.

Something to work on for sure
