Get next season's manager in now!

He wont be judged on the rest of the season. It seems crazy to me that we aren’t getting someone so they can see the squad and decide what players they want to bring in
If they already know who it is he will be watching if they don’t they will have dvds of the games , poor faker will have to sit through them 🙈

clean start next season for me

I was taking the piss out of the pigs earlier this season for not appointing a manager for weeks. Now we’re copying them. For our next trick we’ll try a relegation to League 1.

Totally different situation.

The whole point of appointing a manager mid season is to save the season.
If Sheff Wed had appointed their current manager earlier they might have stayed up.
We could have appointed Pep Guardiola at Christmas and we would still be relegated.

Think its vital the new man is given a clean slate...a fresh start with a full pre season.
If the new man started now....the losing mentality would be too strong for him....so we start next season with the new man already on a losing streak.

Only a manager desperate for a job would join us now.
Anybody with intelligence, pride and integrity would want to start when the season has ended.

It wouldn't surprise me if we already have a manager lined up who has already agreed to come and is already is discussions regards future signings and plans etc. It wouldn't suppose if a short list of future signings are already identified and lined up for next season.

There are so many reasons why no one will come in till the seasons over , its not going to happen .

The sooner we appointment a new manager the better, preferably this season. Why? Because the new manager will get a chance to review the squad, identify the deadwood, mix things up, give some of the youngsters a run out, identify the ones who have got potential and a future at the club.

I’d like to think your last paragraph is correct, however it’s Club Retard we are discussing.

If we blindly follow this pattern we'll be relegated again in 12 months time. Why the fuck would you want to wait a day longer than necessary to try to halt the slide?

Blindly follow what pattern? How would appointing a manager now or at the end of the season make a difference in that front?

We could appoint a manager now and unless he can work miracles he’d immediately start on a losing foot with a poor squad, with few options to make any difference. He’d then be taking that negativity into next season.

He could come in and set Lundstram on fire while he’s still here. That would get the fans onside.

Agree huge opportunity. It cannot get any worse so there is zero pressure. The bar is set at 0 points and 0 goals.

So you're saying that forever more, all new managers must play Wilderball?

The point of a new manager today is he has 7 games to introduce his new tactical strategy to the players against quality PL opposition in a complete no-lose situation. try this, try that, try these players, try those players. He might lose all 7 but we're going to anyway. There is no downside!

Nobody expects a new manager to come in and suddenly have us spanking teams and winning games. BUT it's a perfect opportunity to start NOW for next season. I don't care if the new guy loses every game as long as we start to see signs of encouragement. The time to change it is now, not in August.

The longer the new guy gets to spend with the team the more they will be comfortable playing his tactics. Why is that so hard to understand?

Why would someone take over tomorrow and get an inevitable relegation on their c.v.

We’ll literally be relegated in a game or twos time. Put him in after that.

We need to shift some season tickets and generate some hope.

Because they might be the next Dave Bassett who knew we were going down but had confidence in his abilities to turn it around. Dave Bassett had 2 relegations on his CV while at Sheffield United, and I totally love the bloke for the memories he gave me.

I’m not sure where you got that from. Where did I mention Wilderball? (What an idiotic term that is by the way).

The downside is that if we do lose all 7 games then the new manager will be taking a 7 game losing streak into next season, he won’t have a clean slate. What if we don’t show signs of encouragement? Surely you aren’t just wanting a manager to come in and change the formation? I could do that. Any manager, regardless of how good they are is unlikely to achieve anything positive out of the current situation.

Do you really think 7 extra games will make that much difference in regards to players learning new tactics? These players will have seen it all before anyway, or something similar at least.

It’s the psychology behind it. Why start the new guy off on the back foot?

I 100% agree. There is no point is replacing a manager with another one who continues to play the exact same team, same formation and achieves worse results. At least try something different. We knew before the game today exactly how this would play out, and it, by the book.

What also concerns me is this is the under-23 manager, in charge of their development and progress. If he really isn't prepared to play any of those players and prefers the same old professionals who have patently failed, and in some cases just given up completely, over some of our youngsters then you have to question if he is the right person to be in charge of them.
Heckingbottom knows young lads wont make a real difference to how we are playing they would get lost in dire performances from most other players.
Save them for the championship dont ruin there confidence in an environment as dire as we have.
Heckingbottom knows this !!

I hope we get someone decent instead of repeating the dark years of L1

If we have to suffer this until the end of the season we are just doing more damage to the club. Get someone in now and at least show a bit of fight play the young un's if need be not the players who will not be here next season.

The club's currently drifting aimlessly and effectively chucking away games and time when a new manager could be looking at the squad and preparing for next season. That could possibly include looking at some of the younger players.
The prince talked some sense in his interview after Wilder went but what's happening now makes no sense at all. Just pointless, in every way.

Might as well sack him as well whilst we're at it.

Welcome to a new period of 6 managers in 6 years

Wonderful thought
But then I remembered, this is Sheffield United and the above is far too well planned for us

I won't give up hope until we are actually relegated but I can't see anyone saving us right now. The disadvantages of bringing someone in now outweigh the advantages. No one new deserves tarnishing with this seasons particular brush. I do want to see someone appointed as soon as the season ends though - within minutes of it ending. I also want to see the usual suspects out of our club swiftly and some creative midfielders brought in. I also want one of those boxes on John Street with waitress service. 😉

Won't happen. The Prince won't fund the losses for 6 years. If the next manager doesn't get us back up , the Prince will be building flats on the Lane - he's a businessman , not born in S2 like Kevin. Once he realises that any short-lived success for the Blades is followed by years of misery , he'll do the rational thing.

Those who were angry that Wilder 'got sacked' want a new manager in now with these shit players so they can get on his back straight away and somehow equate that to being right about Wilder #TrueStory

There's already a phat 'Hecky out' thread, and he's not even the proper manager.

Hi Stegosaurus here

Have no fear, Sammy Lee will take the reigns soon.

Agreed.

When you sack a manager you need a plan that what you do next will be better.

Its one thing to go on Sky Sports and explain yourself, your position and drop subtle digs in against the old manager.

However, you’ve then got to act smart and bring in the new man to turn things around. Keep players on their toes, get everyone that’s going to be here in august fighting for their places.

And finally, it shuts the fans up from getting on your back.

Time to make the move Prince...
When was a manager sacked?
