Masks Next Season

If masks work why do infection rates go up? If they don't work why do we have to wear them? Just asking.

They mainly work in stopping the wearer spreading infection. That's why you often see (East) Asians wearing facemasks because it's polite when you have a cold to wear a facemask to stop it spreading.

The do also work in stopping droplets of liquid coming into contact with your mouth if say someone coughs or sneezes near you. The proper medical ones will significantly prevents spread but most of us just wear cotton ones which has limited impact.

It's the people who don't think they have anything wrong who largely spread it.

Derek I can no longer go as you know but if wearing a mask was a small price to pay for watching the Blades, I'd wear one and TBH I struggle breathing wearing a mask as it is now but come on it's United. Let's face it mask wearing in normal life is not going to go away soon, so it's a norm anyhow.

It will be with that attitude

What attitude is that may I ask? I have to wear a mask if anyone comes here or if I ever go out, I've been out say 10 hours in the last year been shielding. Let's face it Covid has had such a grip due to twats not wearing masks, having parties, going abroad, having barbecues going to beach is it my fault they are ignorant and thick as fuck.

We will have restrictions and circuit breakers every winter for the foreseeable. I don’t think we will see full houses for Boxing Day fixtures for a long time.

Might be a time to take another look at Arsene Wengers suggestion to switch to a March - October season.

Point of the vaccine is to reduce the effects of the virus, it won’t make you immune to it. And on wearing masks, I would wear one as depending who we bring in to manage us, we might need them to cover our eyes if the football is shit !!!

I wouldn't worry too much the Championship season should be kicking off about the same time the 3rd wave hits us ............................... and it will but just not as bad as in the EU.

Come the new season if it's spaced out, masks, no singing, no mingling etc then I think you'll find many will turn their backs and getting tickets won't be a problem for those still wanting to go.

"Angry" Chris Wilder face masks acceptable?

It will also mean between 33% and 50% in the stadium. The atmosphere will be terrible and this won’t be football you thought you knew.

So is this man babies moaning about nonsense or has something been announced?

I have not seen a quote from the minister talking about vaccine passports for mass events mentioning masks in the three articles I read about his comments today....

Can the next person who posts on this thread show me where he said it. I clearly am not being thorough enough.

Face coverings reduce the amount of water droplets you breathe out into the air but they don’t eliminate it they also don’t prevent you from coming into contact with others water droplets and they don’t cover all covid entry points into the body such as the eyes. They help to reduce the rate of transmission but don’t eliminate it. I think they’ll be nervous about football because of the tightness of the seating coupled with the amount of droplets generated through actions like shouting and singing. Masks will probably form part of the solution alongside vaccines because vaccines reduce the severity of infection but don’t prevent infection and indeed even when vaccinated you can still transmit so if imagine mitigating precautions such as mask will remain in place for some time.
Yeah can just see pre-recorded chants being introduced and then played on the pa.

"And now from the Shoreham Street choir we have (drowned out by . . . . .

'You're gonna get your ****ing heads kicked in'. Ah the joys of it all :)

Oh it’ll be shocking and really surreal but it will be a real concern for those making the decisions.

Question 1a and 1b in particular.

Well with a third wave now sweeping across some parts of Europe (inc possible new varients), We can't afford another Lockdown in this country, so if a vaccy cert or passport is what is required then fair enough.

The EU have totally buggered up on the vaccine front,
I'll leave this with two quotes one from Trumpy in 2019 on the politcal crisis in Venezuela
"As far as the situation in Venezuela is concerned 'All options are on the table' "

Last Thurs head of the EU Ursula Von De Leyen, re regarding the Astra Zenica Vaccine, ie about getting more doses including possibly blocking those already purchased by the UK and grabbing them ie use of Milatary forces by the EU, "All options are Open".
BTW part of the last bit is what was intimated to me by a friends son who is in the Army.

I would have a read up on the main reasons Dem Asians wear face masks, it is generally not why us in the west have suddenly started to believe. For instance, in Japan, the main reason pre-Covid, was to avoid hay fever.
