Sunderland would take some building back up for sure but the new owner is a billionaire apparently.

For us, I genuinely think we have a great chance next season - keeping most of the squad and with a new manager plus a few canny additions.

Why? - because the Championship is a mess after COVID - we may see various clubs struggle next season - we simply need to take advantage of the 55% parachute money and take advantage of their combined turmoil.

I believe we have a good chance next season whoever is manager, and that is based on relegated clubs selling a number of their assets as did Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth last season.

Until we all know the REAL reasons for CW going then your question is speculation.

What do you mean by 55%? All I've read is that the PP are set aside for paying the mortgage on the ground, hence why loans were the focus for next season.

55% is parachute payments for the 1st year after relegation

Was posted on S24SU a few days ago - apparently payments over 3 years are now graded 55/25/20%.

As for money set aside for allocating to the mortgage - is that 100% knowledge or hear say? I doubt that information would be made public knowledge?

Obviously depends who employs Wilder next and who our next manager is.

After the car crash of this season, I very much doubt Wilder will get a job better than the one he has just left and also top managers might think twice about taking the United job.

I'm sure someone more well-versed than myself can find an Athletic article somewhere mentioning it, but I've understood that to be the plan for a few months now.

CW's plan was quality loans and to try and keep the good parts of the squad together. That's the sort of planning you do when you have no money, not out of choice.

Don't disagree - The prince has said that relegation "would cost him lots of money" which can be interpreted a few ways which is what fans tend to do.

At this moment in time, the comments by a few top newspaper journalists are suggesting the LMA have been involved with CW and the club/Prince for a while, whilst at the same time the Prince has categorically said CW would be manager next season. Something doesn't add up and it's deeper than a mortgage and loans for next season.

The official line by a club statement might give us more information.

We don't traditionally bounce back to the top flight quickly, do we? That 12 years was no aberration.

Staying up rather than going up is likely to be the realistic goal next season.

I agree with you about CW's job prospects. There will be a lot of clubs who will not simply dismiss this season as a bad day at the office.
"Top managers" for us - can't think of anyone.
 
If he isn't appointed by a club already in the PL then I voted SU.

Not that I think we'll necessarily bounce back within a few years, IMO I just think the success CW achieved here was under a unique set of circumstances where a repeat of it at another club would be no formality.

I don't think we did even with Wilder, we're fucking wank. You don't get promoted of the back of this shit first try.

People need to stop acting like it was a done thing that we'd romp the Championship next season.

I think you're underestimating the ability of Sheffield United to completely press the self destruct button just when things look so good.

And by looking so good, I mean last January/February just before lockdown.

You only had to look at Wilders face and general demeanour to know something was wrong
 
People should have a read on the Celtic forum and see what people think without red & white tinted glasses on
