People who are adamant they want the manager sacked should look at that list. Sobering to say the least.

I agree, the only manager on there that 'may' be an upgrade on Wilder is Benitez imho. The rest have suffered much the same has Wilder has this season, but in a lot of cases no real success prior (Billic, Howe and I suppose Pardew to some extent excepted) . If Wilder can learn from this season he may yet turn out to be a great manager. Big season ahead though for Wilder, will he be humble enough to learn though.

I think our next manager will be Billy Sharp tbh, I reckon he will join the coaching staff as player-coach 21/22, and then if Wilder leaves at some point, he will step up as temporary manager...

I think it would be an awful move for both Billy’s confidence and the club, but i can see it happening with this trend of ex-players taking on management roles straight after playing/coaching

Billy could do a lot worse than looking to start his career over the Derbyshire boarder with “Tarn”. He’d certainly learn a lot and I’m sure we’d offer him some of the kids as Chelsea did with Frank at Derby.

I don't get the attraction of Benitez, when he has good players and good resources he's superb, but his Newcastle side was barely any better than Bruce's, playing drab negative football hoping for 0-0 for about 80 minutes of most games even when they were already losing. With even less resources, he'd get us back up, but I'm not sure we'd get an exciting Champs League side out of him.

Goes to show that it only takes one or two perceived failures after success to send you down the pecking order.

Makes you wonder if Wilder goes, and especially if he gets another job and doesn't do too well, where his future may lie.

There's been some long term managers who've done solid jobs many places but a couple of blips has seen them on the scrapheap.

I'd say it would put CW at something of a crossroads. Would he replicate what he has achieved anywhere else?

It's a bit like Holloway, him and Blackpool were the perfect storm and he's declined steadily ever since. Interesting rumour as to why he really left that sadly I daren't repeat on here.

If we do change manager, and you only appreciate what you have got when you look at what you could have - who would it be?

Benitez took Newcastle back up, yes but they had some decent Prem players to push them back up, and a big wage budget, not sure if he would even know the name of any players we may look to bring in from the current Championship or abroad
Howe would be ok, if ok is good enough, but I do wonder why no one has come in for him? Bristol, Cardiff, WBA, Derby, Forest all changed this season

Personally i reckon Lampard would be decent, had a good season at Derby, was doing ok at Chelsea bringing in the young uns, only got the boot when the big money buys didnt work out (sound familiar?) Just not sure after 132 years of history, I can cope with been 'his' Sheffield United

Alternatively, maybe a more cosmopolitan choice of Jardim or Rangnick if we can show them enough ambition of a project

Either way its a tough call, hopefully CW shows he has learnt from his mistakes, and is man enough to accept his errors, and we get the Wilder back who took us into the Prem, and then said 'weve earnt the right to be here, and were going to give every team a go, they will have to work hard to beat us' rather than this seasons defeatist talk of 'look at their players/budget/wage bill'
