To be Fair JJBlade makes some fair points in his last post.
Our Football has become more hoofing and boring, and this club does have an history of if there’s a shit way of doing things they will find it.
I honestly thought with a new owner things might change but I'm not sure they have. We might have spent a bit more money on transfer fees than we would have had McCabe been still in charge, but its the wages that's actually killed us.
Add in the fact we didn't sign anyone in January when we desperately needed someone was also reminiscent of something the previous owner would have done.
The lack of news on the new training ground is also a worry.
Wilder is not totally blameless he's made some signings that we probably won't see the benifits of until next season in Brewster, McBurnie and Bogle and Lowe.
His reluctance to change our system is also not one of his strong points.
He in my view has also not played to certain players strengths mainly McBurnie and Brewster, McBurnie is not a target man and never will be.
I will cut Wilder a bit of Slack in the fact some of the players he signed were not his first choice which was more to do with wages than anything else. Plus the loss of our best center half for the whole season and the loss of our best midfielder and other central defender for a large chunk of the season.
On Balance If I was the Prince I would ask Wilder at the end of the season to explain
Why it went wrong.
Why we seem to have gone more down the hoof ball route.
Why we don't seem to be able to change our system to be more proactive.
What's his plan is to gets us back up next season.
What he requires from the owner to achieve this next season.
Providing he answers the questions positively and honestly I would be inclined to stick with him, I think he deserves that for what he has done for the club.
The Prince needs to get this right you only have to look across the city to see how choosing the wrong manager can be very expensive and costly.
Finally I hope the little worrying bell at the back of my head about the Prince is wrong. There have been a couple of rings this season with the lack of news on the training ground and not signing anyone in January.

Kanté: signed for £5.6m in 2015 (6 years ago - when we were busy losing to Swindon in the play offs). 6 years ago.

Mahrez: signed for £600k halfway through Leicester's Championship promotion season. That's January 2014 so 7 years ago.

It's also worth pointing out that the latter two were identified by 'super scout' Steve Walsh who moved from Leicester to Everton. He was behind the £150m wasted on Davy Klaassen (€25m), Morgan Schneiderlin (£20m), Yannick Bolasie (£25m), Sandro (€6m), Sigurdsson (£45m), Nikola Vlasic (£10m) and Jordan Pickford (£30m). If picking up gems for low fees is so easy then why could the man who did it at Leicester not do it at Everton?

Our signings haven't been great but the fees from half a decade ago - or more - aren't a realistic base for criticism.

I agree, he's proven to be more than adept at building squads lower down in the league pyramid, so let's give him another shot.

I think the biggest concern is that he usually builds a squad from the ground up, forming partnerships over years rather than weeks/months and developing players... so i hope our supporters give time to form those partnerships with new players

I feel that a lot of supporters will be expecting fireworks from the get go in the Championship, however we might well come away disappointed in the opening weeks of the season.. especially as we usually have a start of season slump, and Chris may also stick to 5-3-2

These are the big ones for me, we NEVER change the system.

We'll never go into a game with 4 at the back, or 3 up front or do anything different, it's always a reactionary change to us going behind. Wilder could argue back and say "we changed it and we still lost so why bother" but teams now know what we do and we don't even do it very well any more.

The opposition will have prepped all week for us to do our usual nice football then shit yourself round the edge of the box routine or hoof it to McBurnie but if we came in with something totally different, it might spark something, there's no harm in experimenting at this point. The only problem Wilder might have is if he does something different and it actually works then he'll be questioned about why he didn't do it to begin with.

The biggest problem is that there isn't anyone out there attractive to manage us if Wilder left. We could go the European route, but for every Ralf Hasenhutl theres a Frank de Boer. Better the devil you know I'd say.

I kind of get what you mean, but equally you could look back at our history (the post Harris period/ Furphy) and say the same thing negatively. On plans a plan B that wasn't hoof it long to McBurnie would be good, although it seems like that has been elevated to plan A recently. To be honest we put in better performances without McBurnie in the side. I can only assume the hoofball directions come from the bench, if not then CW has lost control of what is going on on the pitch. The overlapping centrebacks was innovative but also played to the strength of the players we had. Let's hope it wasn't stumbled upon by accident, necessity being the mother of invention so to speak, and that there is more where that came from. If there isn't CW has taken us as far as he can I am afraid. I live in hope. UTB

There's a kind of bias where people look at what worked elsewhere and take it for granted that it can be reproduced. For every good signing there's a failed one and that's true across the board over time.

There are obviously better and worse methods for recruiting players but you have to bear in mind that at Prem level, and even Championship to some extent, there are plenty of other clubs trying to be shrewd and recruiting from the same pool. It's really hard to find gems that others have overlooked, and it's really hard to do it at a club that's progressed faster than its academy and scouting network have.

And I appreciate that anything I can say in defence of Wilder or the club right now can be met with "We've set records for being shit this season" and there's not much I can say to go against that, but we can't fall into the trap of thinking there's a silver bullet to fix all our problems.
