What point is Wilder trying to prove?

I dont think CW is trying to prove any point. He has few other options in midfield, given the club failed to prioritise signings in that area during the transfer window.

Why is it the clubs job to prioritise signings? That’s the manager, if he hasn’t had the funds that’s fine but I’m pretty sure it was the MANAGER’s decision to spend 20 odd million on an unproven striker at this level.

Lunny attitude after the giveaway pass for second goal was awful- I really think he's slow in the brain. But every time Norwood goes off our form takes a massive nosedive. I'd have tried to keep both Goldy and Norwood on today.

Couple of good midfield touches from McB - but not really what he's there for- the silly challenge at the end sums him up.

Because he’s lost the plot. It’s beyond a joke now. Not sure what point he’s trying to prove. About time he started taking some of the blame for this season with the decisions and signings he’s made. Starting to loose all faith in him now

You’ve missed the point of the post though haven’t you? It wasn’t the fact we’d signed Brewster, it was a response to someone saying it’s the clubs fault that we haven’t pritoritised signings, which is total bollocks, it’s the managers fault.

I do agree though. If Wilder wants to piss about trying to compete in the most premium market in world football, then he’s not going to get much for his money.

It's an interesting question I reckon. Obviously it would be unusual to sack a manager that got promoted. Most fans would want him to stay, no doubt riding the wave of positivity that a promotion would bring. However, things would have to be significantly different to this time round. Our tactics, our approach to recruitment. Would CW be the best guy for another assault on the PL?

Unfortunately Wilders use of the cash has been nothing short of cataclysmic .
We've had very little value from the for us big money buys.
Having said that losing our entire back line was highlighted today. We did need more in midfield but losing the full first choice
Defence has crippled us.

There was plenty of people saying we ought to sign a striker and Brewster was the one identified
At the time it was supposed to be a loan but Liverpool moved the goalposts at the very end of the transfer window so it was fork out £20m or miss out on the player. So it went from a loan fee to a full blown transfer and the financial outlay was obviously a lot more
I do think this probably had a damaging effect on our ability to sign other players but then again I might be totally wrong

Yes because if he builds another group capable of promotion he deserves the chance to show just how far he could take that group but if he fails people don’t get third chances.

I can’t begin to work out what’s going on behind the scenes but I think Wilder seems to have made it clear that he wants to buy young English players but we don’t have the funds to be able to compete on that level. The last two transfer windows have been proof of that.

Obviously Villa weren’t stealing all our signings but I think it was pretty obvious we were searching in the same pool and we couldn’t compete. It’s why I couldn’t agree when Roy Keane said we were taking a gamble on the best players in the Championship, when in reality we aren’t. We can only afford to pick the upper mid-table type players and hope they come good for us.

I think a rotation of the academy boys giving them experience is the way to go now there all games for pride now so we may aswell give them some valuable experience.
