Abuse towards players

All advertisments are hidden for logged in members, why not log in/register?

You never get to see the abuse, why is this? Get it all out there if people are giving abuse out and threatening families or whatever, people will soon do something about it. Where is all this dogs abuse and why do people think it’s fans of our club direct messaging or whatever giving our players dogs abuse? No one knows fuck all about it yet respond anyway, a reyt load of bollocks.
 

People who are angry at current state of world/their circumstances take out pent up frustration on famous/successful people on the internet. Always been this way will most likely always be like this. 😐

This is certainly true especially at the moment I’ve noticed an uptick in just how generally angry my mates have been over the last few months not particularly at anything just generally.

Lockdown and Covid have been making me so angry lately so much so I've been social abusing a Kettle and toaster set I saw in the Argos online catalogue.

Yeah surely to be aware of the abuse they'd have to go actively looking for it in the first place?

If its in response to their own social media posts then they should turn off comments if they'd going to pay so much attention to idiot keyboard warriors.

I think he’s likely referencing direct messages which a lot of blades players have open as they do community/charity work off their own backs separate from the club which is a credit to them. However I think the club could set up a way of fielding these requests and get the players to distance themselves.

Anytime I think about going back on Facebook I remember its pretty much what people I vaguely know are having for their tea, faux date nights where they don't / can't actually go anywhere.

I hate any form of abuse to anyone. I Understand the great disappointment we all feel but just leave it at that. I played football for ni on 40 years and some games it feels just right and you play like Pele, the next my mam could play better, it's human nature we all have off days regardless of the wages. You get sick of hearing fans shouting abuse over
a miniscule thing. But affraid it's the sign of the times. Too many keyboard warriors who I'm sure can only tap out four letter words.

The people in my life who I give a shit about and I know give a shit about me have my number and I have theirs. I’m not even arsed what they’re having for tea so fuck knows why people I went to school with years ago think I give a shit about what they’re having.

See thats the other thing. Facebook taught me that the people who said they gave a shit about me, really didn't unless there was something in it for them. It became apparent that they weren't bothered about me, they were just bothered that as many people as possible could see what they were up to. I felt I was missing out as my life was far too dull and uninteresting to justify showing it to anyone on Facebook, or anywhere else for that matter.

That’s spot on...why (in normal times) would someone support them home and away, maybe a season ticket, and then settle down for an evening’s entertainment abusing the player(s)? Totally bizarre.
 
It feels like a lot of people feel it's their right to say whatever they like at famous people on social media.

Players have always had grief thrown at them by fans at games. Largely it's personal but goes no further than different versions of 'you're shit'. Some fans seem to want to outdo each other online with the things they say. I saw someone call the ref a paedophile in the shoutbox against Villa. There's no need. to make comments about peoples families. To threaten to kill or rape them. It's vile and Norwood's right, something needs to be done. People know they can get away with it. They'd never do it in public because they wouldn't.

One of the problems which I think has made it worse in the lockdown. The thugs and wankers who think this is acceptable let of steam before, during and after a game. Probably take it out on someone smaller than them after 10 pints. There's none of that, often no one to rant to, so everything gets aimed at these players.

I would never dream of sending someone a message threatening them. I can't even begin to understand the thought process of someone who would.

I came off Facebook a while ago, I have one now but only for a couple of group chats but I only have the messenger app and never actually go on ‘actual Facebook’. I was amazed when I first got rid of it how bad the FOMO was for the first couple of weeks. It sounds stupid but there is genuinely a feeling that you might miss out on something important but 9 times out of 10 it’s utter click bait horse shit.

I think social media removes you from reality. Anyone can post a comment good or bad....but the only people you need to take notice of are the ones who can be there for you in the real world.

Yes I've still got messenger as thats the only way I can get my daughter to answer.

I just used to find myself scrolling through Facebook without really knowing why
 
It’s despicable and cowardly but why the fuck are players accessing the accounts in the first place as the providers will do fuck all. If you crave the acclaim by being on them Surely you can’t be shocked when some twats talk shit. Abuse in the grounds has been around a lot longer and no sign of that stopping so let’s stop giving these tossers a platform by saying in public how much impact they have on our life and fucking ignore them something they can’t stand.

I wasn’t even sure what to do with myself when I first got rid of it until I stumbled across this new fangled thing called books.....now stick with me because there aren’t as many pictures but the words are actually spelled correctly and correct punctuation is used. Some of them even actually broaden my knowledge instead of surpressing it. I’m amazed they haven’t caught on already tbh.

It does seem weird though that we are probably at a point in time now where we literally could not live without social media in some form or another.

There was nothing like social media when I was growing up. If someone wanted to hurl abuse at you back then you got a brick thrown at your head. Now you get people who think they can get away with it sat behind a keyboard.

How is what he's paid in anyway relevant to how he feels? Are you alluding to a point that being well paid means abuse should be more acceptable or he should care less?
If not, what's your point with regards to his finances?
I agree it's not heartbreaking, but bringing what people get paid as some sort of justification or reason why it shouldn't bother them is just ignorant and lazy.
