Full Villa pre-match conference

My word, this is a terribly unprofessional conference from Chris. He's clearly on something. The Sky journo was completely lost for words.

If that had come from Warnock or Clough we'd be up in arms. He can bang on all he wants about the club sticking to the plan, but we can never aspire to be a Premier League club with a manager behaving like this on camera. It's shocking.

Poor Chris is suffering, more than any of us and understandably so. I wonder if a break away from the club would do him the world of good right now. For his sake and the club's. Cos at this rate he's in danger of scorching the earth beneath Bramall Lane and permanently damaging the relationship between all concerned.

Give your head a shake, he is being asked the same stupid questions every week, sometimes twice a week.

I am getting fucked off reading the same shit on here daily, right now I am thinking of giving this site a rest but the difference is if CW does take a break, he will NEVER come back and plenty of other clubs will be in for him. In no time at all we will be fighting relegation again in the Championship with a manager no one really wants.

Can you recall Ferguson boycotting MOTD, he always sent the assistant out because of a spat they had. At least CW is fronting up, just get behind him for gods sake.

I don’t necessarily agree with all that the OP states.

But the bloke looks fried to me in this moment.

Needs the bulk of the summer getting some sun on his back and to, for the most part, switch off from football.

The intensity he has and puts himself under, very much a trademark and not something you would want to change as it’s in his DNA and makes him what he is, is now starting to have a negative impact on overall well-being. IMHO.

Switch off for a time gaffer would be my advice and come back after the summer break recharged.

How can he switch off when a mini rebuild is needed? Unless he allows a DoF to take a lot of his work load

Having mentored many employees and been concerned as to their welfare I don’t see someone in need of a break.
Yes, he is under pressure but he was talking to interviewers that he knows well, so it was a lot more informal than the usual boring Premiership presses
Clearly he knows that the future may not be in his hands and is keen, quite rightly, to ensure that our academy and facilities are ready for another attack on the Premiership, but he stated more than once that he wants to stay at the Club.

I agree that he needs a short break like anyone in a job, but not a break from SUFC

Another day another thread on his interview yesterday we are such a great fan base. Can I asked the OP what was said in the interview that was unprofessional? His interview was no different to the ones he has done for the past 5 years but suddenly we have a portion of our fan base now got a bee in their bonnet about a fecking interview.
Did you make comment on his famous interview a couple of years ago where he threatened to leave if he wasn’t backed? In fact did you comment on any of his interviews during the last 5 years? If you want him out because of results formations tactics then fair enough don’t start making shit up to try and back up your argument of why you think he should go.

Been like this most of the season - it's just a combination of poor form, some unlucky decisions, sadly a few self inflicted decisions and all combined with the way social media is. Sometimes with social media you've just got to take the good, bad and the ugly.

Might be a bit better next season when the Blade trolls (sadly) give it a rest, piggy trolls fuck off and certain agenda led posters (hopefully) disappear for a rest - that is until we get promoted May 2022 when it will all start again ;)

Wilder to most people has made a few errors, but it's not for want of trying extremely hard - you would think to some he's done it deliberately (which is obvious to most has not), but the blame culture needs to see someone suffer.

Can't wait for the first on here to want to "cancel" CW - which seems to be the newish shit show of social media.

He certainly needs to feel the love that's for sure - hopefully he can reset the club and go again next season and do it differently, do it better and make a better job of the PL next time.

How much of a rebuild is needed this summer ? Not a lot, unless there is a plan to come straight back, which in my opinion would be a bad choice.
Rebuild over two or even three seasons

He is currently getting rinsed by Simon Jordan on talk sport

It’s a good question and I suspect there is no ideal answer to this, given his “fingerprints on everything” ideology.

But switch off he must do. IMHO. Risk of complete implosion otherwise 😞.

Maybe read a Management delegation book !

Our old mate Jason's has rang in COYRAWW

He's entitled to a break like anybody else. We all have work/responsibilities in our lives but still should ensure there is enough rest time to remain physically and mentally rested and healthy.

Once relegation is confirmed he deserves a few weeks off, maybe a holiday with his missus. It may do him good to take a step back
I agree, he needs to take a step back and assuming he's still here, come at it as if he's new to the job again.

I've been fairly consistent with my views on his previous outbursts. He has a lot of credit in the bank which I think acts as a lens that adjusts fans' perception. Wilder talks this way it's honesty, its informal banter. When Warnock did it, or Blackwell or Clough fans labelled it mardy and self interested.

The Sky portion in particular... the guy interviewing was lost for words given what Wilder was coming out with. Paul Walker seemed stunned as well. FFS Wilder started singing the them song to the Cantours adverts! It was embarrassing.

And it's not just the content, it's the body language as well, its the way he can't get his words out properly. As a previous poster said he looks fried. I heard one fan suggest he'd had a recent major bereavement which would obviously take a toll. Give him a couple of weeks off to recharge.

I'd also like to think that in that time the players might take a harder look at themselves and recognise they are partly responsible for their boss taking time off.

Can you point me to the section of the interview that was so astonishing the interviewer was lost for words I must have missed it.

The first interview with Sky like I said. Paul Walker too seemed somewhat caught by surprise as well.

I will listen to it again just in case I had my head in a blender the first time I listened to it. What specific was it that made the interviewer speechless.

Fucking ridiculous. As you said not 1 person would have picked up on any if this in the last 4 years. Some really weird blades on here.
I’m going to listen to it again intently, I expect it will be difficult to miss given that the sky interviewer was lost for words at what he said.

How do you know that that we will be fighting relegation in the championship should a new manager be appointed ? We might improve .

Then we'll be a few weeks behind the rest of the Championship, great thinking 👏

He's constantly fidgeting, he's grinding his jaw to oblivion, he's bursting into sing song... we've not had to pick up on any of this in the last 4 years because he's never behaved like this before (well, except when under the influence of a Peroni or two).

I'm not criticising the bloke, I am genuinely worried for him and given the situation in the league there doesn't appear to be a downside to giving him a week or two off right now. And then hopefully he comes back feeling better and fresh in time to get us ready for the FA Cup quarter final.

The sky interviewer who is employed to interview and get headlines ,hmm
