Wilder needs a rest

I thought it was a great Press conference - he was having fun with journo's he knows well, and speaks like a true Sheffield lad,
He is different to any other manager in the way he speaks and that might (will) prevent him from ever getting a top four job or England manager. We need more people like him in the game, people that supporters can relate to.

I always remember Harold Wilson and the way he spoke - I could relate to him - then listen to Theresa May - could anybody relate to her ? except maybe the queen as they have the tone and mannerisms

Has anyone ever actually said Nuance in real life ? reckon I might have mispronounced nuisance when I had a tooth out once. Thats as close as it is for me.
Yeah, bought some shoes, they were the new ‘uns.

This isn't a dig at you because you're probably right but it's very depressing that we now have a section who are entrenched in their view that Wilder needs to leave. And when I say depressing I mean embarrassing and shameful.

Don't confuse leave of absence with leaving full stop

There is certainty an argument for wanting him sacked I totally disagree with it but get it. What I have an issue is stuff like this, basically fabricated things to try and prove a point. The myth that he doesn’t accept responsibility, in this particular interview he says he talked responsibility in the first 3 mins. Then there is the rewriting of history and dumbing down his achievements

It's taken 26 games and 21 defeats before he's openly taken any responsibility at all

Fantastic interview which is completely consistent with his interviews over the last 4-5 years. These cowards trying to character assassinate a decent bloke should have the bollocks to call for his sacking rather than making things up to make him look bad. Warnock had it right in that documentary: "they'll be calling for me to be sacked next week".

Right let’s cut the bullshit about this interview now following numerous threads and comments on. I have just watched it again and there is nothing in it whatsoever to call the manager what the OP has called him. It’s the same interview he has done for 5 years of being at the club. Nothing he says is that controversial and the forensic analysis of it is embarrassing.
If people want him out then fair enough but don’t use shit that doesn’t exist it’s pathetic. Plant your flag and say you want him out because of football reasons, I can’t believe supposed Blades fans are stopping this low to try and character assassinate the best manager we have ever had without and basis whatsoever. The OP should take back his original post because it’s not just an opinion it’s fabricated bullshit. Fucking fidgeting I’ve heard it all now!

I don't see a single person in this thread, me included, wanting him "out", nor called the manager anything. Claiming that's the case is what's embarrassing.

Expressing cause for concern that he (and the club) might benefit from him taking a short rest is hardly a reason to throw the toys out the pram.

No it hasn’t! Do you actually listen to any of these interviews or just look for him fidgeting? Go back and listen to them all then tell me that he hasn’t said on many occasions he accepts responsibility for it. You are just choosing to ignore it.

You haven’t expressed concern you said and I quote he was unprofessional, on something and the interview was shocking. I asked you what brought you to this conclusion and you said he was fidgeting.
Those words aren’t from someone who has constructive criticism but wants him to say. It’s from someone making shit up as a way of digging the manager out. What reason would you say those things without any basis if you wanted him to stay?
Absolutely bizarre.

Sounds like everyone needs a Peroni or two.....
True, however we have either picked up a load of fickle fans or we have become very entitled. I hate what we have turned into, I have left blocked all the silly Facebook groups because it actually makes me angry reading what some of these people idiots write.

Hopefully when we drop down these tosspots will go elsewhere.

I hope you're right. And yes criticism is valid and deserved. Maybe I'm just going through a phase but its the now constant threads on him that slate everything he does is starting to feel like a lot of people now can't wait to slag him off and think he deserves to be sacked. I think sacking him would be a terrible mistake.

I’m not right very often tbh so I wouldn’t put your hopes on it haha.

If there was an argument for sacking him then I think that was earlier in the season when we still had a realistic chance of staying in the division but even then on the balance of probabilities, it would have been a huge gamble to take, not least because of the amount of division it would have caused in the fanbase.

I certainly wouldn’t sack him now, as there simply isn’t anything to gain from doing it, especially in the short term. People talk about him ‘deserving’ the chance to get us back up and I’m not even sure that’s what it comes down to anymore, I just think it’s the most realistic way I see us getting back up.

Its the same people every week . just craving attention I reckon.

You are cherry picking words from my posts and deriving your own conclusions from it.

I explicitly said he might benefit from a break. You can go find other posts of mine where I also explicitly say I want him to stay.

This season has been miserable enough for the fans to endure. I can only imagine how much harder it is for Wilder given he's a fan too who also has a tremendous amount of responsibility for the club's success. I feel for him.

Yeah my opinion is that this interview was unprofessional. I'm not going to argue with anyone who thinks otherwise. It's just an opinion. I don't feel it compares to previous ones he's done in the past. Yes he can be spikey, but he usually keeps it on a leash. There's enough there to cause the Prince concern. But maybe it gets Chris exactly what he wants, a conversation with his boss about the mystery "plan".

I feel sorry for him

I firmly believe we have been so unlucky here. Our first time back in the Prem for years and along came Covid.

The Premiership is a super tough and last season we used the overlapping tactic brilliantly but it worked because we had a sound defence and our midfield of Fleck Norwood and ‘cough cough, Lundstram were on form.
This season our midfield 3 are way off form but the biggest blow was O’Connell.( bit like. Liverpool since Vandijk was injured).
I must not forget the GKs but in the end it just feel like such a let down for all of us and the team.

We just need to end this season but hope that form and moral return and that we can all be cheering on Wilder and his team in the Championship as we fly at the top

I wonder if the lack of a PL quality infrastructure put us at a disadvantage during that first lockdown? Did the players conditioning suffer more than the other squads in the league and we've been playing catch up ever since?

By the sounds of it our players were working harder than any other team in the league during that period. While other teams were arguing over whether the season should continue I think we were going full tilt fully believeing that it would go ahead.

I actually thought we’d come back firing on all cylinders because of that.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...

I haven't seen the interview BTW, but do I need to??

Some posters on here think there's a long line of elite managers hiding in the spar accross the car park waiting to see wilder carrying his box to the boot of the car.

Literelly the best manager we've had for years is under pressure, dissapointed, and I feel like us just wants this season done with, doesn't anybody want to acknowledge how he must be hurting, how his pride is, this is his club, it means more to him... Leave it alone ffs let's get this shit season out the way, chalk it up to experience..... When did we lose our bottle?

The big stumbling block for the out brigade..

Who replaces him?

Before we come on criticising, you answer that... And I know you don't have a clue because there's nobody any good available ... Some "supposed" blades eh!..

Finally, wilder is fronting up, every game, in front of the media spotlight multiple times 4/5 times a week, with his likely relegated team, taking the pressure off everybody else at the club. You expect that not to take its toll, and for him to struggle with what to say.. Really?

"Smile while your heart is aching"

Just take a minute, and think what he must be going through..

Great post.
In 35 years of following the Blades through thick and thin I have never felt as alienated from a sizeable chunk of fellow supporters as I do now.

I just don’t recognise a lot of the posters on here at the moment as the same people I go to games with and stand shoulder to shoulder with roaring the blades on.

Is it the instant success and entitlement generation? Is it the pernicious influence of social media? Is it lockdown and not being able to get to games, that causes all this toxic and disrespectful talk?

I hope what ever the reason, that it is temporary and that when we can get a beer and stand together again watching the games we’ll see the real blades fans emerge again.

I thought the same but maybe it was just positive PR. It was an unprecedented situation so how would anybody be able to judge if we were working any harder than anyone else?

My word spout an opinion without taking the time to understand the OP

"You expect that not to take its toll, and for him to struggle with what to say.. Really?" FFS no, that's the whole effing point of this thread, recognising that it is clearly taking a toll.

Go ahead and disagree with opinions but do it when you actually can be bothered to understand what you're disagreeing with.

I've said it all along older dyed in the wool Blades want to keep wilder full stop .I'm one of them .He's been very successful in his first 4 years (Stuff of dreams)
This season hasn't gone so well due to the most unforseen circumstances.
Let's all regroup and come back next year with chrissy and rip the championship a new arse hole .
COYRAWW

Absolute shit stirrer.

Admin should remove the comment, you're insinuating he's taking drugs, its fucking wild.

Was it Moretti or Peroni the last time he burst into song for the cameras?
