Lundstram was poor tonight, but then again we were poor as a team. Said it before and I'll say it again for the hard of thinking - when McGoldrick doesn't play our entire 'system' falls over.

Not defending Lundstram but McBurnie doesn't come short into the space McGoldrick does to give Fleck and lundtsram that forward option pass. Bogle was poor (worse than Lundstram for me) and he wasnt giving the same options Baldock gives.

So bit moronic to criticise him for passing sideways when he had no option.

In the list of complaints tonight I'd offer having a squad so thin we have to play Lowe and Bryan in a PL game together, having a squad so thin we have to play Norwood again, having a squad so thin Basham has to play another game when he so badly needs a break, having a squad so thin we have no players on the bench to offer us anything different and yes, finally, having a squad so thin we have no option but to rely on a midfielder who is leaving at the end of the season but too is looking fatigued and leggy and in need of a break...
 
Fleck seems to be coming back into form from his injury of two broken bones in his back. He is the only midfielder that can take on a man and beat him the other two just pass the ball off.
Apart from that we only have one goal from midfield this season that was from Bogle who was moved up when we went down to ten men.

He's been unlucky with injuries to some key players, but the squad size (or thinness) is an undoubted failing bad future proof planning from the footballing management this season.

Might have been an idea to bring in a left centre half (O'Connell was only just coming back) and a midfielder or two (didn't pay the money for Swift after Freeman went on loan, Lundstram contract issue known about, Besic gone back) in the summer. We were left short of decent cover / genuine competition in the summer. The £18m Ramsdale money could have filled these holes.

CWs failing this season. He's accountable for this one, as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully he's learnt a lot this season and will come back stronger next season for it.

Absolutely. The £40m+ spent on Ramsdale and Brewster was totally incongruous with where we were in our development!

People can say what they like about Watkins and Cash but that misses the point completely. Even if we'd got those two we'd likely be in this situation. We needed critical mass and Wilder decided to set about with a strategy to buy a couple of jewels...

We had/have no cover at RCB/LCB, and our midfield isn't fit for purpose.

If I'm Bettis/Prince I'm wanting to have a brew with r'Chris and understand what his thinking is here...

If Lundstram and Basham go down - I'm struggling to think what options we'd have...

well with the possibility of berge lundstram and norwood on their bikes it only leaves fleck so a big summer for us recruitment wise in midfield 3 needed to come in imo

I watched him closely last night. He didn't try and put in a single challenge all night and was just jogging around, never even got close to a Chelsea player once. Was absolutely pathetic.

Norwood was awful as well but at least he tried. Saying lunny was our second best midfielder is a joke when there was only Fleck doing anything.

I've got nothing personal against lunny but if he is going to take the piss like that he can fuck off now

hes been taking the piss all season which makes it more baffling that chris keeps picking him suppose its the fact weve nobody else to put in but norwood was awful again as well only fleck performed the sooner lundstrams gone the better for me

2 good games in 25, how many games did berge boss for us in the first half of this season. It's my opinion nice guy yours seems to be different. I remember lots of berge errors leading to goals. Lunny has gotten better as the flat 3 has been playing together, again my opinion

The only reason Lundstram and Norwood play because we have no one else yep. Looking back it was a poor summer in recruitment and not strengthening the midfield. Need at least 2 in the summer.
