Ramsdale
Baldock, Egan, Jagielka, Stevens
Bash
Norwood Fleck
Didzy
Burke/Mousse and Sharp

Jags because although hes slower than a heavily laden truck on the M1 Burnley in Wood and Barnes are slow as well and i think Jags is a better bet in a back 4 aside Egan than Robinson.

Bash in the holding role

Norwood although i agree hes been pretty poor i dont think Ampadu offers anything going forward and do we need 7 defenders on the pitch (including the gk)? Weve got to offer some attacking threat surely? Im only saying Norwood because theres no one else, id reluctantly play lundstram over norwood if he were available.

Against Everton you could easily argue we had 8 defenders (again including keeper) and 3 attackers on.

Didzy number 10

One of the faster lads, burke if fit with mousse after 65 mins, and although unpopular id play Billy because if we get a chance which we might get a couple off against Burnley I want him on the end of it rather than McBurnie who isnt 100% anyway and couldnt hit a barn door.

The main change I would look to keep, is the 2 in the middle, as we had with Ampadu and Osborn in the last game (although it does not have to be those two). It gives us, much more flexibility. We can have the 3 upfront like last time, move a man into the hole and switch to a four at that back. If we want to play on the counter attack it gives us a shield at the back. What we may a lose a little, is the overload in the wide areas which the RCM and LCM have been key to and has been almost our only means to opening teams up, since we were promoted. There were times against Everton, when you could see Baldock and Basham more isolated. But, we are simply not creating chances this way anyway. I never complain normally when players are bought off, because the coaching staff are managing their fitness over a season, this is how modern teams work and the game is played at such an extreme tempo for 90 mins these days. But, we have one last shot this month, just to at least give us some hope and something to play for, so I would really keep McGoldrick on the field for as long as possible, we literally have not scored without him on the pitch this year and we have conceded after taking him off in the last two games.....and while Burnley might not be the best team to try a counter attack against, I would love to just have 15 mins of Burke and Mousset ( I accept he won't be starting for some time) on the field together, just to see if we can get them dovetailing once or twice. However short on players we are, I would sit Norwood and McBurnie out for a while at least, it can't help to have so many players completely out sorts in the squad, the rest of the team on the pitch need to have some predictability in order to see through instructions.

Best suggestion so far IMO. I also want Basham in midfield. Worth a go in an attempt to get more compact and competitive, more difficult and frustrating to play against. With Bogle and Osborn in wide midfield we may restrict the amount of crosses Burnley get in. Hope Burke is fit. Maybe Fleck will enjoy a slightly more holding role too.
I love basham to bits but more and more im realising hes not a commanding defender.
Everton wouldn't have scored their goal if Egan was under it. Basham gets no power in his headers.

On MOTD, they were on about how Leeds had changed their formation to cope with Burnley's big two up front (Woods and Barnes) by centre backs going man for man and utilising a sweeper behind 'em.
I'm wondering if Egan and, possibly, Jagielka could do this with Ampadu as sweeper. Releases Basham's energy for a midfield role.

Jags is fucking finished
Norwood Fleck no energy and don’t give toss
And Billy well

It was great wasn’t it. Loved Leeds approach and Phillips sweeping. Then again Leeds were fortunate on the pen and the disallowed goal.

No confidence this or any other formation will work at present but might as well give it a try!

Ramsdale
Baldock - Egan - Robinson - Stevens
Ampadu - Norwood
Bogle - McGoldrick - Burke
McBurnie

Just noticed I’d left Basham out.....our best player! With that in mind, I would switch bogle or Ampadu for bash!

I’d have

Verrips
Bogle Basham Egan Robinson Lowe
Ampadu
—-Norwood—- Fleck
Brewster—- McGoldrick

To be honest I've no longer got any bloody idea what we should do. I was well excited by the Everton line up, it was exactly what I wanted. The resulting performance was bloody dreadful, so I don't even know what I want now.

One thing I keep thinking though, is, how bad must Jack Rodwell be?
He's : 29, 6ft 2, has over 150 premier league appearances under his belt. He can play in midfield or centre of defence.
On paper he should be the answer to a lot of our problems, yet he can't even make the squad. I'm thought through sheer desperation he might have been tried at: LCB, RCB (with bash in midfield) or in Dm.
He must be an absolute shadow of what he once was. To be worse that what we currently have is impressively awful.

Begs the question why he was given another contract doesn’t it. With all the problems we’ve had I do wonder what actually set of circumstances were CWAK thinking he’d come in handy?

Maybe try this

Ramsdale
Baldock - Egan - Stevens -Lowe
Bash - Osborne
Bogle Norwood Fleck
Brewster

Norwood with a free role

Dont know what verrips is like but having a tall keeper would help negate burnleys ariel threat , plus any other 10

Burke will no doubt be injured for a few weeks now, Mouse still not fit enough to start, so will prob be didzy and McBurnie up top🙈

Agreed with that except would have Verrips in for Ramsdale and Rodwell in for Osborne as Rodwell can drop back into the back 5 if required.

Osborne is a trier but runs around like a headless chicken and has no PL quality or pedigree.

Wilder won't pick Bogle as he's afraid of being proved wrong again, and dropping Ramsdale would be an admission he made a mistake in signing him.
In the nicest possible way, I’m really glad you aren’t in charge at BDTBL. We’d have a midfield of Barry, Rodwell and Wilshere. It would be a half time oxygen break and a cryotherapy bath at full time.
