Here's the profiles of the coaching staff we currently have at the club:
Training Ground Guru | Sheffield United staff profiles
DCL has attributed his development this season to the influence of Duncan Ferguson. We don't seem to have anyone like that at our club. In the past we had Chris Morgan as a coach who spent a fair bit of time mentoring Harry Maguire.
(Yes we have Sharp and Jagielka who I imagine could try to take on coaching responsibilities in the future though we need people now)
Wilder says that he cannot play the game for them and he is correct. However imagine if Burke asked him how to become a better striker what would he say and what could we offer?
I bet Duncan Ferguson would work wonders with Burke. The Aston Villa defence looks decent and they John Terry in their coaching squad, Ledley King is a coach at Spurs and so on.
I don't know about our training routine, however I could guess it might be becoming stale and unproductive judging by the team's performances. I don't mean to be unkind but Knill etc. don't have any Premier League pedigree.
So if I had to stick my neck out I'd gently suggest looking at the following:
The strikers: Andy Cole/ Harry Kewell
The midfield: Owen Hargreaves/ Gareth Barry/ Tim Cahill
Defence: Matthew Upson/Lucas Neil/Gary Neville (struggling most with this one to be honest)
(Goalkeeper: Jussi Jääskeläinen )
All the above have successful Premier League experience as well as being respected and have contacts in the game. They also will be able to offer something different and perhaps fresh ideas to our set up. And yes it would be good if they could challenge Wilder on occasion.
Probably easy to rip into the above suggestions and I admit it's tricky but before you do, do suggest any alternatives
---
Another thing, Matt Prestidge rightly received praise for our fitness up until March, what the hell has happened to that since then? Also I'm not sure to what extent Darren Ward can be held responsible for Ramsdale's performances, particularly in learning how to catch a ball?
