Player Suggestion Jess Lingaard

Ancient no reason why they should fund any of his wages.

We are in with the big boys and other clubs linked with him will pay his full wages. He won't even be here for 20 weeks so even if he's on 120k a week thats 2.4m. If we arent willing to pay that we should walk meekly through the relegation trapdoor !
Well said, if you want to play with the big boys youve got to pay.

You took the words out of my mouth, I was about to say exactly the same thing! I assume you’re referring to the same Luke Freeman who was unable to hold down a place in a very poor Forest team prior to his injury and who’s fans would happily drive him back out of the city?

Duffy was a great player for us in league 1 and the championship. He’s never played above this level and was 34 when he left us. He was then unable to get in a poor Stoke team and is currently playing for fleetwood in league 1, which suggests he may have struggled to consistently perform in the premier league?

You don’t generally get 20+ caps and start a World Cup semi-final if you’re not very good. He’s clearly lost his way a little over the last 12 months but he’s a lot better than what we currently have.
I think a lot of that was an unintended transfer planning gamble, ie. releasing freeman to bring in swift; but the Brewster transfer rolled on and on, then swift didn't happen - leaving a distinct hole in the hole!

I don’t know a lot about Swift, but I thought he was more of a replacement for Lundstram rather than Freeman. I assumed when it was apparent Lunny would not be leaving in the summer we lost interest, plus the owner of reading was holding out for a lot more dough. It was certainly a major error in hindsight.

Mind you, 'every cloud' - swifts been out injured since season restarted 😉

I really like the look of the young French lad Reading have, Michael Olise. I was impressed with him against the Pigs. Seemed to always want the ball just like Duffy did.

Suggested him too, talk of Reading wanting daft money for him. Looks a player though.

With respect, I’d rather we sign no one than panic-sign someone who wouldn’t fit in with our style, doesn’t play in a position we use, and would take time to learn the system. Perhaps if we’d seen any evidence at all that the boss wants to play with wingers or a proper AM it might be different, but we haven’t.

Do we play with a system at the moment?

Wilder didn’t dismiss lingaard in his press conference this morning by the sounds of the quotes coming out of it.

he certainly has qualities we lack in the middle of the park, and plenty of Man U players have gone from joke figures to looking better outside old Trafford. I’m not 100% convinced but He might add a spark at least.
I reckon, as with Deano, any loan will be heavily weighted in Manures favour, and used as a shop window for next season when Prem / Euro clubs who can afford his wages will have seen how he's fared away from Old Trafford.
Again as with Deano, I've no problems with being used in that way

I don’t think he has played this season

He must be coming to us an Man U have taken up a one year extension on his contract today, no doubt they expect us to pay him the full whack for them.

OGS did apparently make the offer to Chris to 'help out'.

The papers were saying how Man U wanted a new contract signed before he went on loan but player and Blades were keen.

Seems to have all the boxes ticked.

For our domestic loan I would rather have Rojo he has a good left foot and can overlap he has played LB before too.

Whoever we get, lingard will be benched for Osborn, and rojo won't be able to take Robinson's place from him

Lingard can play in several positions, including those available in our current formation. He is likely to get himself into the box, wherever we would start. If he is fit and motivated and that's an 'if', would be one of the better signings we could make.

Squad!

Oh Jese, post your tweets, about how it's gonna be.
By now I should know better, your dreams are never free.
But tell me all about our slide towards division three.
Oh Jese, you can always sell any dream to me.

Worrying if true.

The complete opposite to any kind of signing this club should be looking to make.

Inter Milan are supposedly after him on loan now according to the papers this morning.

Good. Personally I wouldnt want him at the Lane. We should be bringing in the best players we can from the championship (best players at clubs in the lower half if necessary who know they won't be in the PL next season anyway) and cream of the lower league sides, to get us in shape for a promotion push next season. It would also have got the players settled for next season nice and early. Forget expensive loans Utd, use that money for longer term targets on much lower wages now.

Wow. Just caught up on the last 6 pages of this thread.

Mad that people don't want a 28yo World Cup semi finalist. 😒

If Lingard signed for us, he would probably be the most gifted footballer we've had. Certainly in the last 30odd years.

Not good enough for us but looks likely to sign for Italian title contenders, Inter Milan 😀
