Depending on how we continue to build, I think there's merit in:

  1. Bring back Freeman in Jan, if the loan agreement allows. If we're going with a no.10, he's the ideal option - he belongs to us, and is plucky and creative. If we go down, he'll be embedded in our system by then.
  2. Look to a loan of Besic, he's high tempo and that's what we need, he's got a right engine on him. That is, if he looks decent in retaining possession, I can't remember?
  3. Spend what we have, or our remaining loan on a LCB. Could Tomori from Chelsea do a job? He's available.

LCB to replace O Connell.

Another CB to supplement Egan.

Attacking Midfielder

Possibly a defensive Midfielder too.

Either play Verrips or sign competition for Ramsdale. Loan out or get rid of the goalies who are never going to play Verrips /Fotheringhay/ Moore

Bring back Freeman and RND from loan.

Move Lundstram out (I like him but if he won't sign then time to move him on).

Loan out Norwood (we can have him back next season in the Championship if that's where we end up.)

Send out Lowe on loan (we will have RND as cover)

Sell Berge (even though I bought a very expensive bobble hat with his name on it 😵)

Decide what we are doing with Rodwell.

Time for a clear out. Lots of stuff to put in the loft and decide if we need it next year. If we do, then we can blow the cobwebs off it then.
Agree with everything except:

1. Ramsdale - he needs time and has shown some promise for improving, reckon this guy will be indispensable in a years time.
2. Berge - Unless we get serious money (£30m+) which we won't... i say let's keep him. Reason being: with Lunny gone we will be seriously short in midfield, and if we do switch to counter attacking tactics, he could have a brilliant role in pinging through balls to Burke/Mousset, rather than playing box to box as he has done so far, think of him as a Norwood replacement

Unfortunately, 1 more EPL loan signing and we've had our lot, and tbh i would prefer us going Lingard/Rojo over Besic- only two allowed in a season.

Plus Tomori would have to be permanent as we already have Ampadu from Chelsea

I really want us to look at signing players who will be willing to be here next season as well. We need to use January as an extra window for building a squad capable of bouncing straight back. I don’t see the point in short term loans.

Bugger, apart from that, my suggestions are flawless then. 😂

Sometime in the next twelve months we need to:

Goalkeepers - release or TL Moore. He'll never play first team football for us again, behind Fotheringham and Verrips. We have enough cover for suspensions and injuries
Defence - Let Jags, Rodwell and Bryan go, or terminate contracts with settlements. TL Lowe, Robinson and Stevens. We need to incentivise retaining Jack O'Connell by any means possible and restructure our back five into a back four
Midfield - Get shut of Lunny, Norwood and Fleck. There are more capable midfielders out there. Retain Berge if possible. With a restructured Midfield I feel he would fit in better
Up front - Let Billy go and TL Moussett. Bite the bullet on the meagre returns on him. He's gash. Consider loaning out Brewster to buy if he doesn't improve with a better midfield supply. My guess is however he will rip the Championship apart.

We'll need capability at the left side of defence and a whole new midfield for the Championship. Wilder needs to get his head out of his arse and stop trying to be clever signing unknowns and players he has no intent on selecting. There will be players willing to come to BDTBL and play under him and Knill.

Can’t disagree with that apart from mousett. He could be brilliant in the championship with Brewster who I would also keep.

Could not agree pompey. Mousset, no matter how much we all like him. The warning signs were there at bournemouth and they got rid. I think he needs to go back to france. Fleck, Stevens, Norwood need to go. Hate to say it but they've expired. I'd probably loan Lowe out to see if he can improve, if not then get rid

Good plan. Let’s sell the only midfielder that doesn’t treat the ball like it has herpes. Berge is quality and failure to recognise that, goes some way to explaining why we’ll never establish ourselves in this division.

January has to be all about the midfield. Robinson is doing ok at LCB. The reason we are ein the crap is our measely goal total of 8 and the fact we cant keep hold of the ball when we get it as our midfield is awful.

Lunny wants to go, Berge is out injured, Fleck has lost all form and Norwoods legs have gone. If we don't sign 2 midfielders at the beginning of January we are down.

Besic or a similar type and Lingard will do for me.

We then have Besic (a.n. other )and Osbourn as dogs of war, Lingard to get forward and interchange with Didzy then any 2 from Burke, Moose and Brewster

Ramsdale
Basham Egan Robinson
Besic
Baldock Stevens
Lingard McGoldrick
Burke or Brewster Moose or McBurnie

Mousset is a liability. He's constantly injured and never fit when he's not. Take a hit and get a few million back from a French club for him.

We are going to have Sharp, Mcburnie, Burke and McGoldrick and probably Brewster if we go down.

I reckon you are spot on, we need a complete rebuild. Agree with all of the above especially Mousset. I would also give McBurnie 3-4 months and then assess.

I can’t honestly see Mousett being willing to put the effort in in The Championshi. He barely looks if he can arsed in the Premier League.

Berge has terrific ability but strikes me like he’s doesn’t have the guts for a battle. He’s certainly not going to want to play at Championship level. If he had not got injured I would have been hoping we could have made our money back on him in January, now I suspect we will have to sell him at a loss in the summer,

Or alternatively he does what Beundia, Cantwell, Brooks et al have done and excels.in the championship.

However if we go down the only money Wilder will get to rebuild is from transfer fees and as it stands hes the one player who would raise 20m+.

They haven’t abolished Parachute payments, we will still have those, I know that paying off the loan to buy the assets will take a sizeable bite out of it but there should still be some money for transfers out of that.

Harry im not sure rhe Prince is going to dip in again after seeing us squander the amount we did this summer. Norwich were adrift all of last season and look how they are doing now.

Or not sell him at all. I’ve seen enough to know he would be the best midfielder of his ilk in the Championship, by some distance.

Undoubted ability but champions league to championship is a hell of a drop in 18 months. Not convinced he (or any aspiring, ambitious international footballer) would be up for that. Hope I’m wrong. Also, not convinced he has shown enough consistent form to guarantee we get back our £20m+ outlay.

He’s got worse for sure but was still out top scorer last season and capable of great performances ie Man U last year

Sounds good in theory, unfortunately more difficult in practice. For example Fleck and Norwood have only recently signed 3 year contracts, presumably on good money- they will be difficult and costly to move on.

Then they go on the 'loan to buy' list.

Both have lost form and it will be very difficult restoring that. In the case of Norwood, I can't really see where he had 'form' in this division. One blinding pass into the path of Baldock a year ago doth not make him indispensable, ranged against the utter dogshit he's returned for minutes on the pitch, cumulating in his crapness escorting Haller to our 18 yard box to smash in WHUs winning goal.

Unfortunately that won't be the first time this has happened...rewarding players for past success rather than future contribution. I can excuse Fleck as nobody could have predicted his drop off in form but Norwoods renewal will rank alongside Leon's in terms of value to the side going forward.

If we are relegated (strong possibility, just about nailed on) we should be looking at keeping as much of this squad as possible, give them a run in the championship to hopefully gain confidence and develop a new more attacking way of playing at times (Plan B). Wilder doesn’t want to take a “wrecking ball” to tactics so what makes us think he’ll do that with the squad harmony.

Berge, Mcburnie, Brewster, Burke, Baldock, JOC, Egan, RND and Ramsdale. (9)

Supported by experienced heads/bit part players off the bench in Basham, Mcgoldrick, Stevens, Norwood, Fleck, Mousset, Robinson, Bogle, Lowe and Sharp. (10)

The likes of Jags, Freeman, Lowe, Rodwell, Robinson and Bryan, Either out on Loan or get rid. (6)

Invest in two new midfielders and two new centre backs (4)

Not saying Basham and McGoldrick won’t be good enough for championship, if anything they have been the stand out performers this season. However their not getting any younger and if we were to get promoted, fair questions would be asked as to whether at 34 and 35 they can be as effective in the premier league. Need to think about buying players “at the right age” like wilder as said in the past. Also delaying the introduction of younger players is just like kicking an inevitable problem down the hill.

Hopefully they will have clauses in their contracts to reduce the wages in the event of relegation. Reward for success, penalise for failure

With regards to Fleck. Class is permanent, form is temporary.

I love the way fans say "get rid of.......(x and y)" as if it was that easy. As if these players are the club's possessions, effectively slaves. We hear the same when transfer fees are talked about, when transfer fees are usually the smaller proportion of what a player actually costs.

Unwanted players are notoriously difficult to move on when they've got well-paid contracts. Alexis Sanchez may well be a shining example of this, but why do I even need to mention that when we mysteriously offered an extra year to Rodwell?
