For the record i didnt swear at him, i told him what i thought about his efforts and the rest of the team on the day, about how much we had spent, how much effort we had put in to support the team etc. i must admit though i could have punched his bloody lights out.

he's a fullback.. simple as.. he doesn't have the positional awareness ie doesn't know the job of centre back.. this is why he doesn't know what to do when he gets the ball .. he is out of position. it is a classic bootwell thing isn't it?.. buy a fullback.. 'eeh.. he's a big lad.. defender an'all.. i've gone and sold all of the centre backs like a fucking idiot.. i'll make him into a centre back'.. stupid c***

He was converted into a centre back at Sunderland where he was apparently much better than at full back.
Interesting on the Chelsea v Villa game yesterday where Rednapp pointed out that Houllier doesn't use fullbacks and tends to play 4 centre halves across his back 4.

he is naturally a right back.. you can play plenty of games as a centre back but you'll never be one even if you play well there for a time.. i'm not sticking up for the guy.. all i'm saying is that hoofwell had a tendency.. in fact this club has a tendency to put square pegs in round holes in a cheap attempt at saving money.. they always have

they're doomed.. they look like relegation material as a result.. full back is now a specialised position in the modern game.. you can make an extra midfielder/attacker but you have to have the engine to get up and down the field.. it isn't a position for unemployed centre backs any more.. villa will go down.. aahm tellin theee

the 'cheap as chips' approach ??.. that is exactly what i am getting at highbury.. instead of going out and getting a proper centre half.. we go out and borrow a full back and play him at centre half for more money (in the end) than it would have cost to buy one.. idiotic innit? ya gits mi??
