Nozza strikes me as very much a Micky Adams player.
Wholehearted, gives it a go, a tryer.
Can't say from any of the games I've seen that he's not been committed.
Comical at times but not less than committed.

So do you think he dwells on the ball out of sheer stupidity? Otherwise, it's hard to reconcile such a lack of professionalism with commitment.

Yup, he doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in our box but he doesn't strike me as someone who doesn't give it his all.
Focussing all our problems in the world on Nozza seems exceedingly dumb to me.

The cardinal sin of any footballer is to slag off/disrespect the fans, and for that reason he should never wear the shirt again. A couple of years ago i had a go with some of the players as they got on the team bus at Derby, morgs and speed took it on the chin, but beattie started the big time charlie stuff saying i dont pay his wages etc and started slagging off supporters like me. From that day on i wanted the cock out of my club, a good job the security guard dragged me away!!!

Are we actually able to cancel a season long loan? I thought the only way it could end was if some other club decided to buy him, there can't be anybody that stupid can there???

what about that other big club in sheffield, they are stupid and have lots of money:rolleyes:

i'd rather start the game with 10 men!

me mother in law is free on monday, she is disabled and walks with a stick, she could deputise for nyron we would,nt know any difference:)

Just got back about half an hour a go. He was stupid to do that and only angered the fans hence we all started cheering when he was subbed off. Hope he never wears the shirt again, absolute to**er. The Lad who came on for him was decent, Pellinni is it? Ertl had a good game aswell i thought and had it not been for Eagles who is a class act i think we would have got something out of the game.

Nosworthy reacted to a fan next to the tunnel. Shouldn't have done it but I find it bit rich some fans moaning when he has reacted to all the abuse he has got in recent weeks. If you can't take it back, don't dish it out. He wasn't direspecting the 'shirt' just the fan who abused him.

All the back four were poor today. Lowton was obviously carrying an injury from early on(groin?),Noswotyh got injured midway through the 1st half and I suspect this is why he was caught out for the 2nd goal,Calve can't defend,Parino is enthousiastc but lacks positional sense,Ertl did OK but lacks pace. I also thought Wright was very slow to react to the first goal(30 yeards out,on a angle, shot not exactly a hard one but he didn't get across(might have been he already had his injury at this stage)

Sounds like Britton might be injured so I hope Willo can cope with another game.

Need a leader at centre half and Nos playing at full back

It was wrong of him, but, and I was there, the aggression and abuse was also out of order.

Well said, nice to see a bit of common sense creeping into this thread. I can remember a few players reacting to abuse from the crowd in the past, Paul Devlin amongst them. They may be very well paid humans, but they are nonetheless just human. Can't believe Muttsnuts being surprised at Beattie giving him some back when he had a go at him, why should he just shut up & accept it?

Some of the idiots that are dishing out personal abuse deserve to get some back now and again. They wouldn't abuse him in the street so why different when you're separated by 5 stewards?

As pointe out it's not just one player letting us down and to be fair to Nos, he doesn't seem to be the type to hide from a problem.

Think you'd have been able to show restraint if a couple if chavs are calling you a c*** and the like? Not sure I could.

quite right nick, everybody has a breaking point

Thanks for that. Always thought I liked Beattie and now I know for sure.

I think Nosy typifies the way Premier clubs hire very average players and then pay them a premiership wage, I've written about it elsewhere at length.

Nosy is distinctly average, he's certainly not up to Championship standards, let alone the challenges of top flight football. Nonetheless, I was an awful goalkeeper, but if a football club had ever offered me a deal I would have snapped their hand off. The same goes for a professional offered a Prem squad place!

This does not detract from the fact that the guy goes out there and gives of his best (or we hope he does), and we as fans should recognise this.

Any manager can see how a player is performing, they're watching the match too, so it doesn't need Joe Halfwit to give a player both barrells as and when he leaves the field of play, I'm sure the collective groans of the crowd give a player a clue as to his contribution!

As for muttsnuts' comment above, it probably was a good job the security guard dragged you away, but not for the reason you allude to.

The sign of a good professional is one that can take criticism as well as lauding it when times are good. For the record sean the blade, if you heard what he said you might have been a bit annoyed.

Get a grip fellas ! This is the guy thats cost united goals, games, points including the 2 goals he admitted too at hull. This guys probabley on more in 2 weeks then the average joe earns in a year and for 10 grand a week id let the fans call me what they want

If he carnt take it he should get off the pitch, get out of the shirt and get the hell outta BL

The truth is finally out. You're the reason Beattie went.

Cue lots of comments about how he should be able to take it just because he's paid lots of money.

To be absolutely honest I think the players themselves know whether they've had a good game or not, without the need for 'contributions' from fans. It's on record from numerous players and various clubs that the worse thing you can do is boo them if they're playing badly. Whilst it's understandable to vent your frustration it never serves to motivate them, so if you must do it, just accept the fact that you;re making things worse, not better. If you;re prepared to do that then you've paid your money so it's your choice, but personally I want my team to play better.

a good excuse too get rid of someone who is without doubt one of the worst cb's ive seen in the last 10yrs at the lane. He costs us goals and tbh scares the bloody life out of me. if adams is meant to be this big disciplinarian then he needs to get him mugged off. disgrace.

Hasn't he taken criticism from sections of the crowd at every match he's ever played for us? That's taking professionalism a bit too far. Surprised the bloke hasn't cracked sooner. And anyway, didn't he give out the abuse AFTER our own fans had abused him? Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Really though it just shows how passionate the bloke feels. If Adams can better channel that into his performances it'll be good.

Looking at Nozza's career over the last five years, he's played around 150 club games - all at either Championship or Premiership level.
One season he was player of the season at Sunderland.
He may have played poorly recently but his career suggests he is clearly up to Championship standard.

A settled back 4 would help ,we need to keep a same back 4 and keeper for a few games if possible ,everyone of our defenders and keepers have looked shaky this season even to the extent where it is being changed during the game. Nosworthy would be a good player in a consistent back 5 ,the full backs are the major problem for us.

No, he shouldn't ever wear the shirt again. Not because he flipped a couple of knobs verbally abusing him - they deserved that. He should be sent back because he's not good enough.

He's consistently poor. Gets passed easily because of his lack of pace, tries taking people on instead of banging the ball out into row Z, and allegedly now rods the fans that pay to see him?
He may do the odd clearing header and then certain boo radleys on here say he's had a good game. LMFAO

Don't think anyone has said he had a good game yesterday but he appears to take abuse for every goal when the goal wasn't his fault.(the first goal yesterday,he received a pass from close range in his own box from Willo which he coudn't have expected as it should have been cleared by Willo. Scuffed clearance goes to Eagles,Britton stands off, weak shot,Wright lets it drift in when he should have done better but some blame Nos for the goal)

The abuse he takes (racial at times) is out of order and he reacted after he was abused again. If he does end up leaving the club it should be because the manager thinks he is not good enough rather than fans forcing him out.

What amazes me is that we have a player who is far worse than Nosworthy playing at the back. He cannot tackle, bottles the physical side of the game,is incapable of 'sweeping round' like full backs should do,lacks pace, cant head ,cant crossand is generally out of position. He is not obviously at fault for some of the gols as he is so out of position it is not noticed.

So why aren't the fans on John Calve's back? Or is it a case if you dont try and defend and hide from responsibility you don't get critisised?

Fine post Bartman.
Sad to say that it makes me uncomfortable thinking there's a tinge of racism to the Nozza stuff.

He is not a poor player, his record elsewhere highlights this. He is clearly lacking some confidence at the minute, understandable given the other players in the back four.

I said on another thread that the criticism he has had reminds me a lot of what Shaun Murphy had to endure under Heath - he wasn't playing well, was repeatedly criticised as being the sole cause of a lot of the goals we shipped, and on a number of occasions I recall fans yelling a lot of nasty stuff. After the change in management Murphy was one of the top performers the 2nd half of the season, and a reliable player up to the point of his departure. People should not write Nozzer off too quickly.

Some of his mistakes have come from poor positioning, and where he previously has been quick enough to catch up with forwards who've got past him, I think he's lost a bit of pace, which means he's unable to do that anymore. Centre halves who are not the quickest need to give themselves a little headstart on the nippy strikers, but throughout his career Nowsorthy hasn't had to do that.

To add to my original post, I hadn't appreciated Nos was injured, so the 'hauled off' comment wasn't fair.

But that said, whereas I used to find his bomb scare style a bit of fun, now we're properly struggling I find it stupid and unprofessional. Not that I condone the abuse he gets, but that seems inevitable now.

I'm certain he'll play again, and he can be useful, but I'd much rather we had our own player to replace him so we can send him back to Sunlan.
