The very underwhelming press statement underlines the club itself is hardly overjoyed at the choice its made.

Alco son, as pointed out elsewhere, I've no real problem with Adams.
The issue is the indisputable bullshit from the board about the change of culture and taking a good while to make this incredibly important appointment.
The reality was that approach was over in the week it took until the SOD talks broke down and they fannied about for another week or more before reverting to the Blades Way.
Adams was an appointment that could have been made the day after Speed left.

The reason why thousands have walked and thousands more are going to is because they're utterly fed up of the bullshit spread by the club.
Creating trust with your customers/fans is absolutely critical.
As for Adams, I said I wanted SOD but that Adams would be ok.

Did they say what culture?

For me the whole club needs an overhaul. I've said this before and I'll say it again. We need to have a method that goes from the Academy through to the first team.

Maybe Adams fits in with their ideas. I've no idea what he said at the interview, and I've no idea what O'Driscoll said or demanded. Perhaps O'Driscoll wanted to stamp his own mark on the club and the board were after a man who will fit in with the "new" culture. I don't know - they don't consult me on matters.

Perhaps Adams fitted their ideas better than SOD. Probably not, but he's not the hoofista some make out. Sure, he's not Pep Guardiola, but he's not exactly had decent players to work with all the time. Sometimes he's needed to work with what he's been dealt.

We've a need for Academy development coupled with bringing the right players in, something that past managers have't been able to balance. Most managers won't give a shit about who is at the Academy apart from a very few who are on the verges of the reserves, because most managers don't last long enough to see kids coming through.

Perhaps it was pointed out at the interview stage. I don't know, I wasn't there. I hope Adams can be the man who makes a difference.

Len - you've been predicting our downfall for as long as I've been on United message boards. I hope that you are able to continue for many a year into the future.

For as long as I've supported United, the people running the club have been more inept than the people wearing the shirts (with the possible exception of Paul Williams, Darren Carr and Jonathan Hunt). In that time, I've had loads of pleasure out of being a supporter. Since moving away from Sheffield the mates I spend most time with are City, Man Utd and Liverpool fans - guess what, they're exactly the same about their clubs.

If the board spinning the supporters a line and further eroding trust leads to supporters leaving in droves then United can lay claim to have bucked the market in football. We are a strange bunch - as long as we get a degree of satisfaction on a Saturday afternoon, we'll come back for whatever is served up. Some of our thresholds are higher than others - but if the prospect of success returns, so will the fickle. Same for us as it is for any other club.

I just don't share your upset at what's gone on. You hang on every word from the club because it gives you angles to hang them by. It's very obvious and very boring. You can't pigeon hole me as a clapper because I've been VERY critical of the club in lots of areas. This isn't one. We've got a decent manager for the situation we're in. You let your guard slip and acknowledged it. You know you've blown it because I'll remind you of it when you try and claim to have known better. That's why you'll now try and tell us that some procedural error is more important that employing the right man for the job, as you acknowledge.

Thousands of people who've walked away from the club could not give a flying fuck about what you insist they do. They'll return when we start winning again and look like we've got a plan, whatever it is.

So to summarise, you think it's a decent appointment but aren't happy about the process the club's gone through to appoint him? Well at least you're going to give Adams your support and not hold something like this against the team.
