A very sad day for all Blades

Can you please come up with a list of realistic candidates who Birchy was talking about?

In case you missed it:

Sorry I've not been online since this afternoon to reply to this.

Ok, first off let me point out that as SOD didn't fill all the criteria, not all these do. We discussed previously about him not bringing through youth - but that doesn't matter to Micalijo - apparently it was such a close fit, he was 100% CERTAIN it could ONLY be SOD. And it's doubtful he'd be passionate about the job. So here is a short list of people that fit the description just as well - or better than SOD:

Nigel Clough
Mark Robins
Gus Poyet
Tony Mowbray
Gianfranco Zola

...the could go on.

UTB!!!

There's no need keenzy, but of course I accept.

I like a debate; argument, even. I hope you accept that your earlier response was nothing more than abuse [not that I'm complaining or running to Foxy crying foul!]. As such, it was worthless.

I have my views; you have yours. You might want to reflect whether it is appropriate to invite a dedicated Blade of over 50 years [and many thousands of miles] service, to take the next tram to Meadowhall. That was my 'age' point, not that being older makes me right. It doesn't, as I told my teachers and Mrs. Thatcher many times.

Anyway, let's move on?

Based on the criteria, I was convinced 100% it was Dario Gradi. I think it's disgraceful of the club to have appointed anyone other than Dario to the post.

I feel pretty much the same. It's outrageous that we've been lied to in this way.

You admire that eloquent style of argument? If so, is it because you lack intelligence? In that case it is forgivable. If not, you should be ashamed of yourself. Have you tried BladesMad?

Congratulations on a highly patronising post. I have plenty intelligence thank you very much. Sometimes you have to be blunt when things need saying and that sure as hell needed saying.

I have read plenty of your previous assassinations of Montgomery and some of your comments are quite frankly disgusting. You bang on about how you have seen so much football blah blah blah and that you are a good judge. Previous managers, Bruce, Warnock, Robson, Blackwell and Speed all had Montgomery in their side. So you obviously think you know more than them.

Sometimes you have to be blunt when things need saying

Indeed, and I often am.

quite frankly disgusting

But it's OK when directed at me?

Give up mate, before you embarrass yourself as much as your obscenely-paid hero does to the shirt.

Well, the drunk and the former semi-pro, non-league goalkeeper for starters, Yes.

The drunk with the 100 odd England caps, yes he obviously doesn't know an effective player when he sees one. Your comment about Blackwell is pathetic too. Whilst I didn't like the bloke, his background has very little to do with it. If Mourinho was the blades manager and picked Montgomery would you say " what he does he know, he only used to be Bobby Robson's interpreter"?

If this is the thread to welcome the new manager then I would like to say I am delighted with Adams. Couldn't care less how they play, we need to win and if that means 1-0 with an in of someones arse then so be it. Corky is a master stroke and how glad are we to see the back of Ellis

Your sensible logic is not welcome on here! We need to be playing like Barcelona by the end of the week otherwise all hell will break loose

Ho Ho!!
Actually as some one who has watched United since 1972 I can't remember many times when we played real passing football, exciting, yes, fast and furious , most certainly but never really well played passing game

I'm a bit underwhelmed tbh.. i don't give a monkeys about 'ooh he's a blade' and all of this guff about bring back booker and bassett frankly makes my stomach turn.. i think he will turn out to be a good manager and we'll do ok.. thing is though, we had a chance to change the philosophy of the club here and we bottled it (as fucking usual) and went for the cheap short term option.. monty first on the team sheet and same owd same owd.. it seems like we sacked blackwell and ended up with blackwell.. i hope i'm wrong.

anyways all the best micky .. one thing i would like to ask.. when you are interviewed on tv straight after the game remember that you are the manager first and fan second.. those warnock rantings which reminded me of me in the pub straight after were frankly embarassing to the club and fans..just do your job.. i don't give a monkeys if you are a blade or not.
UTB..

I can with Currie and Woodward, then with Sabella, then to a degree with Edwards and Morris, then under Kendall/Spackman.

we're about due for another fix then lenners?.. we can but dream eh mate?

I doubt it but I'm hopeful he might organise us enough to scrape clear of relegation.
Bit worried about his apologies for the pig sign at S6 though. No need Micky, no need.

i reckon we'll be safe now. no problem.. my worry though is that we'll be still in the same place in 3 years time

But it's ok to dream isn't it len. Let's not dampen the new spirits too much eh. But i'm sure you'll continue all the same

Couldn't agree more with everything above, another missed oppertunity Blades

You must have missed the John Harris era mate.

About this 'bottled it-cheap option-missed opportunity' stuff that seems to have become the mantra. What was your realistic alternative? Genuine question.

Compromises, compromises, compromises. In the end, you have to take the best option available. Think back to those heady disco nights. You might have wanted the pants off the tall shapely blonde, but if she wouldn't dance with you, you'd take the plainer short brunette with tight clothes and loose morals.

Life is full of possibilities, but it is really about results...

What a fantastic analogy. Pure Genius Dunc! :D

Who has told you we have bottled it ? What do you actually mean by bottling it ? Not chosing the manager you wanted ? United not being held to ransom by John Ryan? Who has told you what has happened ?

Cheap short term option ? What make you think Adams was the cheap option ? What other realistic options where there out there ?

How much do you know about Adams by comparing him to Blackwell....reading what fans have mainly put on other firyums(plus Robbie Savage !!) this would contradict what you are saying.

Never mind...try not to miss an opportunity to make something up to critisize The Blades

This is bollocks. Why would you have looked past the bint with loose morals in the first place?

:)

o,driscoll has a strategy plan, and would have most likely got us relegated, cast you mind back to all the donny fans moaning when he first went there, they wanted him out, would you be singing his praises then when he takes us to league one

From the reactions to this thread it seems that the truth really hurts. So many United fans getting wound up because number 1 choice snuffed us. It is not Micalijo's fault that we are back to being 'direct' (hoof merchants), passionate (limited) and hard to beat (dirty).

Top thread again Mic. It's a shame you have to take the brunt of eveyone's anger (at the appointment) for pointing out the inconvient truth.
