He has to go

People wanting a change of manager only have to look across the city to see the quality of the gene pool of potential managers out there. Owls are calling for the usual culprits mostly who they havent a pigs trotters hope of bagging and if they did land a bigger fish they have no money to change anything much.

Blades have the best manager we have had in my 60 years and Wilder has earned the right to correct things on pitch. If one or two players are off their game or playing out of position it will be all 11 off their game if Wilder is sacked or walks. Other Prem clubs seeking same would take him eagerly and then the usual culprits emerge as potential new management at the lane, the same merry go round of has beens and not quiet good enough to cut it.

It’s happening again!! Sean Bean and his crew got rid of Warnock and sent us plummeting into the depths! Chris was a messiah last year and now he’s getting condemned by a lot o yer 8 matches in! A lot of it is to do with our fans unable to be our twelfth man with all this shite goin off!! So Here we go again No f*ckin appreciation and no f*ckin loyalty! Shame!!

Everybody was happy when Chris signed a lot of the recent recruits in the last two seasons. Perhaps some of these players need to take a hard look at themselves. With Jack injured who wants the shirt Ampadu, Jags,Rodwell, Bryan, Robinson, Stevens. Same at left wing back and upfront as Dialia shouted Where are you time to step up

Just skimmed through this thread.

Im absolutely astounded that Wilders job is being brought in question .

Just a question for those tantrum throwing, feet stampers who are calling for his head, how would you feel if we sacked him, ended up going down under the new manager and then ended up back in the Championship without ever remotely looking like we had got a manager anywhere near as good manager.

Will you be insisting you was right all along or will be embarrassed that you called for the sacking of the best manager we’ve had for 25 years
Hardly anyone on this thread has asked for him to sacked. However plenty have questioned his tactics, squad selection and player management due to us only achieving 1 point over the last 11 league games scoring 5 goals in the process. I think it is right that, on a forum, the manager should be questioned on the performance on the team and the debate should be calm and reasonable and not resort to personal abuse as some have

So are you saying Wilder has signed players that are unable to step up ? Isnt that a flaw in the recruitment policy?

In the harsh light of day yes however has Chris looked to bring in younger players trying to build a new team in bacground Berge, Lowe, Bogle, Brewster, Ramsdale. And fallen foul of injuries Moose, Fleck and Jack plus loss of form Stevens And the Lundstrum situation.

I agree with reducing the age of the team but you still need experience.
Playing Stevens as a makeshift LCB seems daft when Jags could play there as an experienced head talking players through games. There wasnt a point giving Jags a new contract if a left wing back plays as a centre back before him. The same can be said of Rodwell not getting in the sqaud/team ahead of Lundstram whose form has been poor and is leaving the club.

I agree we have not brought one player In this year who can hit the groud running as a replacement better than last seasons first eleven. Other teams have

I think there's a strong argument that somebody/ several should have been given a consistent run of games over Lundstram this season, to play their way into being comfortable there. Or with a total lack of credible option, a certain amount of experimentation.

Nobody could really have predicted our start, and I think CW probably expected Lunny to sign in the end - but given a do over we have wasted time there.

Absolute bullshit! Where has all this bollocks come from? For gods sake grow a pair!

If we lose to West Ham and if Callum Robinson scores the winner against us for West Brom you can bet your house Wilder will be under scrutiny for his management and decision making.

Think one of our many problems is Wilder/Knills tactics to overload the top of the pitch include the CB”s and the attackers being out of position. We don’t play forwards as forwards, we don’t slip the ball through for them to run onto from midfield (when was the last time that happened resulting in a goal or not?) instead they drop into midfield to fill gaps or end up with chalk on their boots ont sideline helping to get defenders in the box. Ffs it’s a mess our failing “system”
And it doesn’t fill me (and I’m guessing the players) with confidence when Wilder keeps giving post match interviews saying “we can’t go toe to toe with the PL clubs” or “they’re a different class to us” ffs put the white flag down and fight.
McBurnie away at Brighton.

To where
Can this post be closed now? It's totally embarrassing and is only giving Ormester self satisfaction on the amount of threads he's accumulating. HE IS NOT A BLADE. No true Blade would stoop so low and even consider questioning the guy who took us to the edge of Europe last season in such a short time. The time to re address this is when we ever find ourselves at the bottom of the Championship.

Not a blade oh because I don't agree with you look at the facts Wilder is a great manager but you have too look at this will the Prince let it carry on. But yeah a none blade good job you don't have a clue

Is that you want to happen so you can come back on here and say I told you so?

That's the question isnt it. It's not just about replacing the manager, but who with and if, as most likely, the January transfer pot will be sparse.

Which begs the question, who out there would keep us up with little / no money?

Of course there are negatives currently. Wilder seems to have lost his bombastic side, in his interviews he has embraced imho too much of a "we're so 'humble guv" tone.

His tactical stubbornness sticks in the craw too. But he isnt only the right man for the job, he's the ONLY man for the job. He still has the chance to put this right, even if we are relegated.

To use an analogy, it's like being with someone you love intensely. You know they are the only one for you. They love you,.but some of their habits are starting to wind you up. Things need looking at, and sorting out before the point of no return.

We're at the "we need to talk" stage. Hopefully it gets sorted and Prince doesn't so something hair brained like go for Allardyce.
I would not watch a game with Alkardyce as manager.

Wilder has earned the right to get us out of this. But it's most definitely the case that there are issues that need addressing quickly - This form isn't just this season.

We've only scored more than once 3 times in 29 league games
We've only scored at all in 16 of those games
We've only kept a clean sheet in 7 of those 29 league games
We've conceded more than one in 10 of them
We have scored 8 goals in the last 16 away games and picked up 9 points

Those are just the numbers. I've watched the majority of all of those games and it backs up what I'm seeing. We aren't creating sufficient chances to be able to score enough goals to win games when we have taken a step back defensively (last years defensive performance was never going to be sustainable. Teams who finish outside the top 6 have only conceded 40 or less 8 times in the history of the PL).

It shouldn't be a shock to anyone that this season was going to be a struggle. But I honestly thought we'd be somewhere around 14th with about 43-ish points. Even if we do get back to the sort of team we were from January to March we'll still be low scoring and tight games for the rest of the season. I just don't see a situation where we can get more than 36 points from here. Our margin for error is just so slim.

But forgetting all that. I think the big issue is that at the moment the team looks directionless, confused and lifeless. Nobody expects to cruise past the last 3 opponents. But I think it's fair to say that for 95% of the 270 minutes the opposition was in complete cruise control.

We just want to see purpose, application and desire to attack opponents. It won't always work and we very well may still go down. But we can't carry on looking like this. Because if we do I think that Wilder may well be gone before the end of the season. And that would be an absolute travesty

He’d be a great choice. Actually understands football. He’d keep us up until PA has paid off his debts with the PL money, sorted out the academy and developed the Lane.
This one has to be a joke post!
If Big Sam came in we would’ve truly taken 10 giant leaps backwards!

Norwich were entertaining. The only good reasons to get rid of Wilder are if he’s completely lost the dressing room or if we could get a replacement who could almost guarantee survival. Otherwise, stick with Wilder, even if we go down.
I've never understood, as fans, how we are meant to determine this, or how you'd come to such a conusion.

OK, so Wilder’s just handed in his notice. Who do you get in?
Oh sweet Jesus you was actually serious!
We don’t want anyone of the following ilk... Pulis, Warnock, Big Sam et al. The club will not move forward thinking in this manner.
I don’t have a name for you as I’ve not looked into it. I fully expect Wilder to stay and turn our fortunes around.
But should the unthinkable happen... personally I’d hope we could attract a young up and coming manager with fresh ideas. Maybe someone from the continent with a knowledge of foreign based players also.

We can’t. That’s something the people who run the club have to ascertain.
