I find this post a bit puzzling. Would you still attend if the stadium was half full, we were getting beaten and were struggling to get many shots on target but there was no virus?
Yes, the restrictions that’ll be in place (which I assume their will be) will make the whole thing that much less enjoyable.

Depends what restrictions they might be, hardly going to be too drastic though.

I think if you are prepared to take the risk then ok. 30/50% full with social distancing and well patrolled other areas. Keeps income flowing albeit reduced, provides employment. Outdoors space, so 6 in a group in a pub etc. My take from no restriction land. Would I go if I could travel. Yes, but that's my own choice.😎

Genuine question, probably without a right answer, but you're talking about "risking wreakage" and things not being "proportionate" - what's a bigger risk, letting communities be torn apart by losing their football teams or letting communities being torn apart by risking further deaths from the virus?

Human lives are overrated. There are way too many of us, let a few of the nackered ones go.

So why the veiled dig about our current situation? Just say the virus will keep you away. Presumably that means if we'd had a flyer and sat proudly top of the league and scoring for fun you'd still not be attending?

except they will be drastic - the virus kills people.

Out of interest - are you in the "at risk category" ?

How about this as a drastic measure - any fan KNOWINGLY going into a ground with COVID or is supposed to be isolating as denoted by track and trace rules to face a criminal charge.

I am at risk.

I went to Hallam FC who had pretty good measures in place to allow people to attend the match. I know its on a much smaller scale but still.

I am at risk too and i would like to know that everyone that went in the ground would be acting responsibly - at this moment in time I and many others don't see certain sections of the public being responsible, some of which might be sat near me in the crowd.

Personally I would like draconian rules about who went in - our match day stewards couldn't/wouldn't even stop smoking on the South Stand concourse in full view with clouds of smoke puffing up with no smoking signs plastered everywhere.

In the end - the logistics of letting large crowds (circa 6,7,8K) in and around a ground will make it impossible to "police" properly - it simply isn't going to happen this season for me at all.

I am for people having the choice to go or not.

That's stupid and an unnecessary risk too.

The latest estimates say that 750 million, or a tenth of the entire world, have already been infected. Only one million have died. That's a rate that's roughly on a par with Conor Sammon's goals to shots ratio. By your rationale we wouldn't get in a car or cross the road, too dangerous

It's not just you taking a risk though. If you're infected, you risk transmitting to someone else.

We all make our own choices in life, if someone is happy to come into contact with me after I’ve been to the Lane that is their choice, I ain’t forcing anyone.

Everyone is free to choose to lock themselves away if they want.

If a load of scruffy lefties can turn up en-mass in city centers causing havoc and not social distancing when they feel like it, then surely football fans should be allowed to turn up to back their team in a third full ground in a socially distanced manner.

Think there’s bellends of all political hues.

You can gather in large groups outdoors to rip foxes to shreds.
You can gather in large groups outdoors to chase down and kill stags.
You can gather in large groups to travel to work inside a train carriage.

It makes no fucking sense that fans can't sit in a stand.

There's too many people to reply to, so I'm not going to bother.

I'm just disappointed how little people seem to care for others, how little they value human life and how avoidable deaths just seem like a small price to pay to watch a bit of live football.

People would also make the choice not to isolate, social distance, and wear masks afterwards so it's a non starter. We are in the dunce corner with America, we don't know how to follow simple instructions for our own good so it's not happening.

If everyone wore a mask, distanced, isolated when they were supposed to and behaved it'd be fine, like it is in Germany - I watched Union Berlin the other night and it was a cracking atmosphere to say there were only a few thousand in.

It was a good atmosphere at Hallam FC as well. :)
