I don’t know that for a fact,but used the word IF,as a lot of contracts have relegation clauses to players contracts and wage cuts.
I’d be very surprised if he didn’t have anything in his contract regarding this

This...although I think DB36 may think he's a level higher now. Having said that, he's injury prone so the bigger vultures circling may wish to see him play a season in the Prem somewhere first.

I think he would take any premier league offer he should get. Like you say would still need to prove his fitness.
