They called and said the decision on Egan was wrong and MR would be calling to explain why.

No call from MR yet, and they told Wilder it was wrong too late for us to appeal - according to Wilders post match.

Paul Tierney today... enough said really.

I thought he was pretty biased today, very inconsistent decisions. You could see the genuine hate towards him today from Baldock and especially Billy Sharp who said something nasty about the ref when he was out of earshot of him .

The Villa ghost goal only amplified my feeling of bias I feel refs have against us. Especially after the big toe scenario. Prepare for a season of "It's the referee show" is all I've got to say.

I especially liked Phillips getting going down and getting a free kick when big, bad Ben Osbourne brushed his hip, but when the Leeds player smashes into the back of Bash and he goes down then nothing...actually handball against Bash!

I said exactly the same on the live game. Would like to see the challenges again as I’ve not watched any replays since the match finished.
Costa is the sort of player that make refs look stupid, he goes down at the slightest touch and it’s an instant free kick. Far worse challenges go unpunished and it’s a joke.

Berge's "foul" on 2:22 in the highlights was when Leeds Utd got possession then scored. If Berge had not been hacked at 2/3 times Leeds wouldnt have got the ball. I didnt notice it when watching it but its blatant foul right in front of the ref. That goal should not have stood. Also in the highlights just before that Robinson's miss Ayling has got Billy in a Wrestler move pinning his arms back which should have been a penalty if the ref had spotted it.

I wonder whether VAR looked at the foul on Berge in the lead up to their goal? If it didn't, it makes VAR pretty pointless. I'm a bit tired of watching these games on TV and seeing various incidents incorrectly either going punished or unpunished. At least when you're watching the game in the stadium you only find out about dodgy decisions afterwards

It's the inconsistency that gets on my tits. The defender has two hands on Ampadu on the corner. The VAR check took about 5 seconds, yet I've seen plenty of softer ones given already this season.

It was surely the same phase of play and when you remember how long it took to look at the Villa Park penalty and how long it can take to draw lines and move them about when checking off side decisions, I think one slow motion look at that incident would have been all that was required

Mate of mine is a West Ham fan and he's convinced there's a hierarchy to the PL for VAR decisions. I have to say I'm not sure it's limited to VAR.

Was it that long? Imagine they checked Burke offside and then had a few looks to see whether Targett should have seen red. As you say, no debate over the penalty itself.
