For what it's worth...WELL DONE BLADES!! I may slag em off when we play like a set of idiots, so full praise for last nights efforts......and the comeback on saturday too for that matter.

You see I am starting to have serious doubt if this is the case. As Alco once said I think certain posters (not necessarily you or Ollie for that matter) would rather we lose to prove them right.
Boggy came off of his own volition on Saturday. I doubt Speed would have subbed him otherwise.
Oreit Swiss me owd mucker. Not sure how to take that. Veiled dig I guess. Decent away result and if Speed gets anywhere near Blackwell's 14 away wins in a season (no matter how much we play like Blackwells team) I couldn't give a monkeys.
Thing is, myself and Ollie to name a few get dogs abuse for commenting on matches when not present, my prime example being an almight shite storm created when posting that Keith Edwards said the the players were arguing with eachother when Scunny went 3-1 up last term.
It appears that all can be said without starting a row is 'well done Blades' - do you want to read 100 of those posts? It goes without saying we are all chuffed with the result and speedo is doing a great job in my eyes.
Great win and great chance of 2 out of 2 on Saturday.
Really? I thought he seemed a bit peed to come off?
Aye, he asked to come off as he was cramping up. Speed said he was pleased with his honesty.
Must admit I thought it was a wierd choice at the time.
It's funny how everyone is rejoicing after a very Blackwell style performance and win. Funny old game as Greavsy said.

Yeah it was a dig Olle, no veil about it. I knew I'd have to respond to your post, so I held my own back
For me they are Speed's wins regardless of a similar style to a previous manager, Speed is already proving that in many ways he differs to Mr Blackwell so lets allow him to put his name to everything.
I don't think we need to keep refering back to a previous regime.
I take it you didn't see Blackwell's efforts at Hartlepool this season?
The new manager has had a handful of games with someone else's players. It's sensible to allow a tad more leeway than this. You either understand, in which case you should soon become tired of this pointless trolling, or you don't and are naive beyond belief.

Speed has had time to stamp some authority on the team, but has only real forged results when he has played like his old master.
He's made a small stamp and the team are trying to play it differently. 10 games and zero resource is what he's had. It's clear we're short of the right blend of players so nothings going to change very quickly.
To be honest, I don't know why I'm getting drawn in to this. You're going to spend huge chunks of your free time slagging off your club, no matter what path it takes. None of us can stop you, whatever your reasoning.

Thanks for that JD, thats good to know, maybe Speed did it for the same reasons last night then.
It's not a debate if one of the persons engaged in the 'debate' is so utterly entrenched in their views that there is no possibility of convincing them otherwise.

I've already stated that I am willing to be convinced or to change my opinion, should someone show me some evidence or even a convicing argument. Unfortunately I never get either. Most just seem to get the hump on, throw my arguments out because I'm a 'knocker' or get insulting because they can't come back on the point I have made.
.
^^^^^^bang on.

Most get the hump on because despite the fact that you invest zero time in actually viewing / supporting the team, you spend endless hours coming back on Internet BB's making small points, over and over again. There are none so blind as those who don't want to see...(perhaps I should concede that Ched isn't totally shite.....)
Rarely in life are things all good or all bad. It's a spectrum with things spread all the way in between. When your views are so polarised that you view every aspect on one side of the spectrum (bad) it's time to look at yourself and question why that is. Your attitude really says more about you than it does about United.
You group yourself with Micalajo. I'd disagree. Though he's on a downer with us (he's not alone) he's more than ready to concede where he sees things have improved.

Show me the money then. I haven't seen anything to get pleased about. I cannot see these green shoots you keep talking about. Ok, Speed ground out a result with Blackwell's cloggers. Tell me why that is better than what KB was doing.
Because with my own eyes I've seen that the team are trying, but too often failing, to get te ball down and to pass it. I'm encouraged by it but I know there's only so far we can proceed with the blend of players we have right now. So I'll give speed time to, with fuck all resource, sell some players and bring some in.
There you go. That's what I've seen. You'll now tell me this isn't the case (despite not even seeing us), and I'll conclude that it's a waste of time. As per the original point.

With some of the gash managers that we've had at the Lane over the years, I'm just not willing to show blind faith towards Speed and his team, just because they have tried to pass it a little bit more.

Fancy yourself as an amateur philosopher and psychologist alco!?
So what have you seen????
I've seen football of the same standard under the Blackwell era and worse results.

There you go again your favorite Blades manager mentioned. no answer to simple questions though. were you shagging him?
I think in each game (even Boro away) I've been to there's been patches of good quality passing which we haven't seen since pre-Warnock.
I think what is evident from the way Speed comes across is that the change will be gradual over January and next summer.
Speed seems to be using the same tactics for home games as away games (another Blackwell trait) and hence I've been critical of this.
Just read through all this - have been away all week - and I gotta say that I couldn't give a toss if Speed turns out to be the ghost of Blackwell away from home. Blackwell's away record is second to none as Blades manager (I'd like to see some statistics - mini project for someone?) and I like nothing better than United grinding out a 1-0 away - enough teams have done it to us over the years at BDTBL.
I'm not sure that the dislike of Blackwell came from the results/performances away. Let's face it, away from home, the game is about stopping the opposition, quietening the fans and getting the result. Yes, the 500-3000 fans travelling from Sheffield might like entertainment and positivity but 3 points are 3 points. In Blackwell's 'nearly' season, the away record gave us a shot at automatic promotion and we nearly sneaked home late on. Some of my favourite away trips consist of scrappy 1-0 Blades wins. Away from home, I don't care a jot. A win is a win.
At home, it's very different. The majority of the paying regulars go to home games and we want to see United perform at home. We want to see entertainment. We want to see stylish victories and that is what cost Blackwell his job. Too much apathy set in, too much crap was handed out to the fans and it meant that the minute the results turned late last season, Blackwell was in big trouble. Speed has inherited KB's squad and at times he is going to have to use Blackwell-esque tactics - particularly away from home. However, the suggestion that Speed hasn't made changes to the home tactic is ludicrous. Blackwell's 442 has gone and Speed employs 433 for a start. He has to start somewhere and make us solid before January to edge us towards 50 points - and if he can, keep us in with an outside run at the Play Offs if the league stays as tight as it looks like it will.
The time to judge Speed's tactics will be this time next season. He seems to be saying the right things and there is evidence that these things are being implemented. However, you can't change it all at once. He has to take the small steps needed to turn the club around. If this means leaving the away tactics as they were/are for now, so be it. We are starting to see the ball played on the deck more often and I am anticipating some changes to the squad in January and next Summer. It looks like the penny is dropping about Monty - a football side cannot carry both Monty and Morgan much as I like their attitudes and Morgs wins over Monty any day for me - and we are edging towards a new direction. It might come off, it might not but it is unfair to judge Speed now - especially after winning 1-0 at a team that were PL last season.

Some other long drawn out postings especially one of the regular posters are full of drivel and so stuck in position, reading them is like seeing shit stuck to the bog sides.
The above is great and a really refreshing assessment well done.
Oh and back to original point again WELL DONE BLADES.
