As usual the forum's a bit quiet as we've won a game

Not been, or watched/heard the game but just liked to say well done to Speed for winning a tricky away fixture.

It was a decent enough performance from us. Nice to get 4 points from 2 sides who were in the Prem last season and enjoying the benefit of the parachute payments.
A good result on Saturday and you never know, we may just be starting our season !
Fingers crossed.
Williamson and Henderson will seem like 2 new signings when they are fit.

Yes, well done United. Chuffed to bits with this result and now looking forward to my trip to Donny....:D

Yeates sems to be finding his feet now. In a side far too lacking in craft, it's good to see one of our more creative players coming good.

UTB

Well done Blades, good win last night - I was expecting no more than a draw so full credit for getting the 3 points.

Donny now on sat at half 12 for some 3D football and a good few beers before the game :), hopefully we'll build on this win - the next 3/4 should all be winnable.

Yep excellent win. If someone had said to me would you take 4 points from the next 2 fixtures this time last week, I'd have been delirious. :)

Yeah, don't think many expected 3 points last night. 15 points now, around 30 by Christmas and we're safe. We're not going up this year, and we're not going down. A season of consolidation beckons which is fair enough with a new manager and the crap we've put up with during the Robson/Blackwell years.

Crucial result given the others at the bottom of the league last night.
Good effort from Kyle N as well.

Thought it was a 'proffesional' away performance last night. Poor quality first half.Defended on half way line,Hull couldn't break down, crowd started to get on their backs>

Excellant goal by Yeates and we never looked like losing the lead after that.

Nos was excellant last night,Quinn and Ertl played well....Boggy had a shocker and I think Satdi might see Cresswell down the middle with Ward and Yeates wide.

Much better than I expected. Speed has done a good job of papering over the cracks in the last couple of games, so credit where it is due. Let's hope it continues, although in all fairness it's unlikely. We are moving steadily towards magic 50 point target slowly but surely. Perhaps if we keep amassing points then he can try to change the style somewhat.

It's funny how everyone is rejoicing after a very Blackwell style performance and win. Funny old game as Greavsy said.

So how big was yeates goal saturday? Very i'd say made all the difference to a more confident performance. I always say well done when we win especially when we weren't lucky, sounded like we deserved it. I am however going to keep predicting a defeat on the prediction league each week, as i predicted a defeat last night, at derby and against portsmouth. Equally i predicted a win against Watford, Burnley and scunny.

Fantastic gotta go to Hull tonight, should i ware my Blades shirt- yes.
He's a tight arse that Speed though, wont pay for tradesmen. Doing his own decorating hey, suprised he has time for that.

When you said the forum was quiet did you mean at 12.08am when you posted??? or in general?

If we lose, there are instantly a bucketload of posts about how crap we are. When we win, there's nothing (that's a criticism of clappers as well as knockers...).

I got in at midnight and checked the forum, i was a little surprised to see zero posts about the game, especially given that it was an away fixture so not everybody would have been to the game.

Were you abused as a child?

Went to Hull last night. The game was an absolute shocker. The Blades were poor first half, improved in the second. We deserved the win overall so well done. Was very disappointed with the away support though. On all my visits to Hull, ive never seen so few Blades. We used to take more in the Anglo Scottish cup.

Poor first half ? Hull had difficulty crossing our half way line due to the way we set up . The only shots they had were from 30 yards or so. The only critisisms of the first half for me were that when we broke,we didn't get enough players forward quickly enough and our passing was too deliberate.

Agree the numbers of support was poor . Usually smaller numbers means less moaners but but I still had one knob head behind me who thought it was his job to permananatly slag The Blades (and in particular Cresswell) all game ...i think he was gutted when we scored. At one point,De Laet mis hit a ball it to the corner which Usain Bolt wouldn't have caught and the plank behind me still had a go a Cresswell for not running after it.

Don't know why these people bother turning up.....wonder he was a 'slasher' off here ?

I promised myself that I wouldn't post on this thread until Ollesendro had done.

Listened to the match on BladesPlayer last night. Sounded like the Blades fans were making plenty of noise. unlike Olle, I can't really really comment on the type of performance as I wasn't there.

However, if it was a "(Mr) Blackwell style performance and win" then more of the same please Mr Speed!

Away points are going to be big this year, particularly as we often seem nervous at home, the away games are a good chance to pick up points.

Great to see the defence keeping a clean sheet, Simmo will gain some confidence with that, as will the rest if the defence.

Disappointed to hear Speed dragging Boggy off. I really feel he needs to persist with at least one striker and play him for 3-4 games without subbing him to build the confidence. But its a small issue for now.

I'm just glad with the 3 pts and a very important result in the small scheme of things

Boggy came off of his own volition on Saturday. I doubt Speed would have subbed him otherwise.

Great result for us, I personally was at the Norwich game last night, and it was chuffing awful, Norwich were absolutely hopeless. Given we are 5 points behind them now, I think from top to bottom the league will be incredibly tight come May, so don't write us off just yet!

Curious. John Salako on SSN said Norwich played some great stuff and the game was a thriller!

Only tangental to the thread but here goes anyway. I believe that generally there is no need for swearing on forum's such as this or in public places, particularly where kids might be around. I'm no prude but whatever - thats my beef.

My point though, bearing what I've said in mind is this. Last night I was in Sheff and decided to try out the Golden Lion, on Alderson Rd. I understand its a Blades pub and sometimes haunt of people on here.Maybe I could listen to the Radio Sheffield commentary of the match there. There was no match commentary but plenty of entertainment in the form of a drunk at the bar. In less than a minute he fxxxxd and C'd 10 times telling a bizzare story to anyone who would listen in perfect Sheffield steelworks English and carried on and on. Tiresome to start with we were laughing out loud after 10 mins of pure comedy. One of you was it ??

Could be any of a number of suspects from this place!

Really? Was he watching a video of Norwich in the early 90s or something?! I can honestly say they were awful, as did everyone else in the ground!

Or maybe last night was a 'Speed-style' performance where he is seeking to adapt our approach and formation depending on opposition/venue?

If you can point out the differences that Speed applied then I am willing to listen.

In my book it was a:

- ground out result
- 4-5-1 formation
- solid defense
- nicked the game by a goal
- lacking in any quality, creativity or pace BUT we did enough

To me those signal a Blackwell style win.

I promised myself that I wouldn't post on this thread until Ollesendro had done.

Oreit Swiss me owd mucker. Not sure how to take that. Veiled dig I guess. Decent away result and if Speed gets anywhere near Blackwell's 14 away wins in a season (no matter how much we play like Blackwells team) I couldn't give a monkeys.

One of you was it ??

It weren't me before anyone asks .... I were out building me shed.

I noticed the same saturday actually i went on around 6.30pm and expected all sort of posts.

Thing is, myself and Ollie to name a few get dogs abuse for commenting on matches when not present, my prime example being an almight shite storm created when posting that Keith Edwards said the the players were arguing with eachother when Scunny went 3-1 up last term.

It appears that all can be said without starting a row is 'well done Blades' - do you want to read 100 of those posts? It goes without saying we are all chuffed with the result and speedo is doing a great job in my eyes.

Great win and great chance of 2 out of 2 on Saturday.

It goes without saying we are all chuffed with the result and speedo is doing a great job in my eyes.

You see I am starting to have serious doubt if this is the case. As Alco once said I think certain posters (not necessarily you or Ollie for that matter) would rather we lose to prove them right.
