Accoring to the Daily Star Portsmouth may be out of business by next week.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/158385/Portsmouth-in-lifeline-plea/

So what? What's that got to do with the Blades? I'll tell yer.

If that is the case then we will lose the 3 points we won against them giving us a total of 8 Points. Ched will have a goal chalked off so we will have scored 4 all season to date and we will be in the relagation places becasue Leicester will have a better goal difference than us by +3 as they will have that 6-1 defeat erased.

Which is nice.

Trust us to have a decent win against someone who goes bust.

Actually, it is looking bleak for them, although rabbits out of hats and all that, I expect they will probably still be here come Next Saturday..

Bugger, but I still hope they go pop

Not that it'll affect us, but does it also mean that there will be 1 less club relegated?

More than likely 1 less promoted!

They'd have to give a minimum season notice to enforce such a change.
If the club went bust, you'd be looking at only 2 teams relegated, with the same number going up from league one and also this league.

How about getting in there and raiding some of their players. Kitson, Nugent, Brown and Lawrence would all be good additions.

This would be a crying shame. Any football club going out of business is tragic. Sure we might not like them, but it's the fans who'll suffer. They are a club steeped in tradition and have very good support. Yes it is a shitehole, yes the fan with the bells is a gread A twat, but I DO NOT want them going out of business.

The only silver lining is that we'd have less chance of getting releagted. With Pompey and Scunthorpe certainties then it wqould be a fightr between us, Palace, Leicester, Coventry and Preston.

Beat me to it Olle! Does it mean that all players would be available on free's as their contracts would be cancelled?

Personally whilst its bad, I couldn't give a shit about Pompey. They've been the perfect model for how not to run a football club and deserve to go to the wall.

Yes we have debts, but to my knowledge we try to stay within our means, building our off the pitch activities so that we don't rely only on the football revenue.

Teams like Pompey wind me up. So I have no sympathy for their fans because for so long they've been living the high life at the expense of at least one other club - look at the teams that've tried to work within their means whilst Pompey's been lauding it with the PL big boys. Us, Derby, Charlton, Watford, Reading, Burnley to name just a few... So excuse me if I don't shed a tear, but fuck em. They'll find something else to do, AFC Portsmouth 2011 or something similar. See them in 20 years.

Top and bottom is that the FL, FA and PL have to start taking notice and if the fans matter so much then they need to stop chasing the money to line their pockets and start spreading the wealth, start addressing the issues that matter and stop cuddling up with the so called big clubs. Get back to basics and take the importance of money away from football.

Oh and the last time someone said its not fair on the fans it was the cheating scum and West Ham so try to avoid getting drawn in by that one

I can agree with Reading and Burnley, but Charlton, Derby, Watford and ourselves all have had debts of over £15 million at some point over the last 4 years.

Ha Ha don't make me laugh. Raiding some of there players i doubt it, that means we will have to pay them wages. We haven't got a pot to piss in, if Portsmouth go pop (which i hope they don't) then all there players will end up at leicester, Palace, Derby, QPR, in fact all the other 23 clubs in our league plus Huddersfield etc.

Sorry Olle have to disagree with Leicester not a chance now Sven is there with a nice pot to play with.

Is that FACT or just because United haven't spent much?
Just because someone/or a team chooses not to spend money doesn't mean they haven't got any.

Probably depends on whether we finish third bottom or not. If we do, we'll be damn sure to be relegated!

Looks very much like this will now happen - statement on club website that it is now 'likely that the club will now be closed down and liquidated by the Administrators as they are unable to support the continued trading of the club'. Looks like a deal to exit administration has been scuppered by the ex-owner demanding more money from them.

Not sure me sen. Lawyer on BBC says it's negotiation tactics. Creditor obv wants maximum up front, bound to come to some agreement. Maybe not. Hope so because lose tomorrow and we could be in bottom 3.

I think the lesson to be learned here, is that people need to be very careful what they wish for. What is happening to Portsmouth could happen to any number of clubs, shadowy foreign owners pumping extravagent amounts of money before wanting their money back in an instant, and in Portsmouth case their owner Gaydamark wants to get every last penny he can out of them, and bollocks to the consequences for the thousands of Portsmouth fans who have spent years watching their club through thick and thin.

Bollocks to that! I'd take Halford back, though.

Not with no money we wont

There has to be a compelling case!

By that reckoning, I guess now Bartley is back, we probably wont be hanging on to De Laet, which will be a crying shame if that's the case :(

Halford has signed for Pompey on loan. How the he'll does that work whilst they are still in admin?
Ridiculous they should be forking out for Kitson, Lawrence and Halford after they stiffed all those local creditors.

I wish for two Cup Finals in three years. Winning one. Playing in Europe and drawing 2-2 with milan. A decade in the prem with a team packed full of internationals.

The cost? Could be a little as one season in the Championship.
