Does this guy not at the very least deserve a tweet of recognition from the club? He was an integral part of the centurions side and played a huge part in the upward curve, and this after initially being transfer listed by CW.

Have the club even confirmed his departure? They tweeted about Leon the other day but that just seemed a reaction to Leon’s own ‘goodbye’ Instagram post.

Maybe waiting until he signs for a new club, then posting a "thank you and good luck" type message... (We could also be considering a new contract offer if he's needed for cover)

I found it most peculiar that we put out a released list and there was no such thanks for good service for any of em.

Low and behold, Jags and Rodders are back, Leon has only just conceded he has left the club by putting his own thoughts out there.

I suspect Wilder has said to Freeman go and see what’s out there if you want more regular football, if you don’t fancy that, and can accept a squad position at a PL club with a promise that if you push on, you have a decent chance of some pitch time, that hasn’t already been taken (Cash) we will see what we can do !!!

I cannot see that happening. Be a huge own goal for the club.
I respectfully disagree.

As a back up, and having very clear attributes in the role of a RWB, we could do a lot worse. Evidence a regular spot on the bench towards the end of the season as well as a few limited appearances.

It’s absolutely fine for us to state our intentions (ie to release him), have a look at replacement options, find that Freeman’s not found what he wants either, and deciding that we might as well get him back for another year. Wilder is hardly going to leave us with no cover because of any perceived backtracking – of course it would be great to get better cover in to push Baldock more, but Freeman is reasonable cover and wouldn’t need a single minute to bed into our system. Totally relaxed about that tbh.

10 pager outrager if it happens though.

Have the Club actually published a released/retained list? I know the PL have but the club haven’t released anything to fans as far as I’m aware?

The club didn’t put one on the official site, but did submit the released/retained list to the PL along with the rest of the league which has been reposted repeatedly.

That was a mandatory requirement by the PL. Most Unitedites don’t visit this forum so how are they supposed to know?

If we don’t find anyone and Freeman doesn’t find another club, I’d be happy if he stayed as back up. Admittedly it’s not the same league, but I remember him coming into the team Against Reading after being out for a long time.. scored in the first minute from three yds out

I would argue the Venn diagram of Unitedites bothered enough to be trawling an official site for information of whether a released list has been punished, and users of this forum, is pretty close to being a circle.

I wouldn’t. Various supporters use various outlets. And, contrary to how you seem to see things, there are still a lot of the older generation who rely on outlets like local press for info on their team.

Contrary to how you seem to have interpreted my light-hearted comment, I wasn’t suggesting otherwise...
Ok mate.

Hopefully the club see fit to thank Kieron Freeman for his efforts. Maybe it’ll form part of a press release announcing what the club decided to do with those players out of contract.

He didn’t play last season, how is that a signing that makes us better. If Baldock gets injured and we are starting with Freeman we know we are in trouble. Freeman hardly played in the Championship and he lost his place.

To be honest I don’t see the need for discussion on it the chances of it happening must be 0.00001%.

So if Freeman doesn’t find another club.... we should sign him. Isnt how premier league clubs act.

He never said it improves us? It just keeps us the same strength in that position with adequate cover

Yes, when have we, as a Premier League club, ever signed free agents to fill out a Premier League squad? I mean other than Jagielka, Morrison, Rodwell, Foderingham...

But I’m sure we’re the only team to do it.

We are trying for Matty Cash let’s hope for that.
We’ve already done it twice this summer 🤣 🤣 🤣

So if our plan was to sign Freeman why didn’t we do it at the same time as them?

As much as I liked Freeman in League 1 and the early part of our Championship campaign, i think we was horribly exposed defensively at times. If Baldock had a long term injury we just couldn't go with Freeman in the Prem - he'd get ripped apart IMO.

Distinct lack of basic understanding of the skills required for the RWB role.

Freeman has them. Not all of them it must be said.

Given the way we “shape” up, it’s actually very difficult for any of our wing backs to be “horribly exposed” defensively. Again, basic lack of understanding !!
