I can't see it working without some folks getting very upset.
Maybe United will allocate tickets on a points system, like they do for away tickets?
The first match, whatever the capacity, those who meet the criteria, get a ticket for that match.
Then the next match, those in the second criteria of points, and so on until it returns back to the
first match allocation.

I presume all four corners of the stadium will be used for the home support without any away tickets allocated.

Will there be any food/drink stalls open, will toilets be accessible?

Sounds like it's going to be more trouble to open than it is to remain closed.

But it could, if managed carefully and analysed assiduously, lead to 7000. Which could then lead to 10,000 and something approaching an atmosphere, etc.

You would also get the issue of who sees who.. some people may get to see Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U... others get to see West Brom, Brighton and Burnley.. very difficult to make it fair.

I think the answer we agree on is, all or nothing at all.

How are the authorities going to stop supporters travelling?
Will they close all the local pubs too?

Have the TV companies agreed on showing matches on subscription/terrestrial channels, not just a highlights show?

TV schedules have reverted to normal next season With 20 extra games. . If you can’t find a stream on the day and it’s not been picked by Sky or BT you can’t see it.

This is the bit that bothers me, Sky & BT get their subscriptions, which means the PL get their Billion, the Clubs get their £s, and the Players get their lolly.

But the ones who pay the money, the fans, dont get to see their team, only the ones Sky & BT broadcast

I watched a few French games over the weekend. Some of the fans were sat in groups and were not spaced out, they could have been as there was plenty of room. Then I saw Nice at home and there wasnt a fan in the ground in what looked quite a big stadium. Couldnt quite work that one out

I got to my first football match since the Norwich game at the Lane this week. Local club at Step 3 (Isthmian Prem) level. 15% of capacity meant 300 were allowed in. An average game usually gets 200-300 anyway, usually spread out around the pitch, so other than a one way system at the bar and in access areas by the pitch, it was basically business as usual. A huge relief to non-league football that there’s been some common sense shown for this level of football.

I'd be happy with that, however some fans won't want to part with cash now for something that they might not see this season. If were were EFL then we'd need the cash, as we're PL I don't think we'll be cash starved so relying on fans for cash isn't the way to go.

This is what the Raiders' owner (American football, but they obv have the same problems as here) has said - he won't even be going to the games himself

I'm curious to see how it would work logistically - I attend solo, but there's 2-3 season ticket holders (Westfield corner) as a group to my direct left then a larger group to my right, then another family on the row directly behind who may or may not know those to my right. How does that work if we rotate which STHs are allowed in? If I get picked for a game does that mean a dozen or so can't go? Can I just move to the unused BL lower with other individual holders on a game by game basis?

In terms of atmosphere, I'm in Prague now (quarantine restrictions incoming in 3, 2, 1...) and am at three games this weekend, two second division and one first division. Will see how it goes, but with no control value to compare to, who knows. Then again, continental fans make noise regardless so it should be fine.
Not sure how the liver will handle a Sunday 10am derby though

I dont think season tickets should be an option this season, personally. I dont see the point. I get that clubs want money, but in reality we probably wont go en mass this season, so if we pay now we probably will only go in 21/22, so the club are having a year at that point without any ST money anyway, might as well take the hit now, especially as they kept all the SKY money. Also (and i hope im wrong) they may get relegated next May. If that happened i doubt everyone would want a season ticket for the following year.

The club already 'owe' season ticket holder 3 or 4 games from last season, if fans are allowed back in small numbers from Octobers (wasnt the suggestion about 8k to begin with) it'll be christmas / new year before anyone else gets to even go to a match

In fact looking at that more closely, if we said there were 24000 ST holders from last season, and they are each owed 4 games. Capacity is capped at 8k until we dont know. Split the 24k into 3 groups (A, B, C). This is how fixtures would work:

The club will allocate the seat you can sit in so you might not be able to chose a particular stand just whether behind a goal or at the side.. There are no ST holders so loyalty points will be used to prioritise and I assume fans being able to attend every 4-5 games to give everyone a chance. I would also assume that if you want to sit with a particular person you will have to order tickets at the same time(family and friend option ?) . Online sale only I would have thought.

The club cant really sell season tickets next year with a straight face. IF we are basing it on 8000 ish. Lets look at the facts

1) The club 'owe' people 4 games money from last year which they said would roll over to this year
2) The club know earliest fans 'could' attend a game is October.
3) First two home games will be behind closed doors
4) This leaves 18 games fans 'could' attend.
5) The club had 24000 Season ticket holders last year.


Can they sell 'full season tickets? My view is no - a season ticket allows you to each home league game, this is not possible for next season, any talk of paying for a full season ticket to 'maybe' attend some games is pie in the sky.

Firstly they should get out of the way the people who had tickets for the 4 games last year who chose not to be refunded. Then look at how the land lies with the remaining games, is my view.

...but would you pay for a season ticket (for say £300-£450 to see say like 5 or 6 games and the rest on TV? You can find streams for free albeit not official!

Said it before no point selling season tickets at all until we are close to full capacity. I think it would be a bit of a rip off to pay for a season ticket for close to full whack and only see a small amount of games and the rest on TV.

Any TV games fans should be able to buy either individually or for the season for a set price and be separate to going to any games. Watching on TV is nowhere near the same as being in person and prices/season tickets should not be based on this being part of I feel. I am concerned the PL/clubs will see this a way of recouping lost costs.

Be better selling batches of games in packages in terms of attending and allowing every ST holder and member from last year to buy....up to 30k fans.

Each fan can be in a group of family members up to a certain amount so not to be separated. Then divvy up the games so we all get to see 4 games each (approx 16 games if mid October)...hopefully spread out with groups of games as suggested on here. So we all get at least one of the big 6 games and 3 others...you'd group them so Man Utd, City, Liverpool, Spurs, Arse and Chelsea.

Not perfect but then everyone will get to see like a game a month. We can pay a set price for the group of games...ideally it should be free for those who did not take up the refund.

Whatever they do I feel for next season when ST go on sale properly for full crowds those from 19-20 should be able to renew seats/tickets they had. Someone who is vulnerable/older who for health reasons may not want to go at current time but if things improve generally with the virus they may want to return. I would not want those fans frozen out if ST were sold now.

I still feel October is ambitious in terms of fans going back even for the reduced numbers. I think Schools going back and things opening up more will see it going one of two ways by the end of next month. Hopefully we can start to get back but any significant rise in cases and attendance at sporting events will be taken completely off the table till probably well unto 2021 maybe the following season.
