I suggest we just tell West Brom to do one.

Offering 4m for a player they supposedly want is no way to go about it.

We probably paid something between 6-8m and this would have been influenced by his contract running down.

He's well in contract with us and he's not so bad that we can't wait to shove him out the door.

Asking price is 8m. If you can't afford it then don't ask. I fail to see why taking away someone who they can't wait to offload is some sort of recompense.

If you can't afford to shop at Waitrose, you go to Tesco or Safeway.

In summary, it's 8m or jog on.
Abit rich to say we offered £6 Mill for cash when the asking price is £15 Mill, dont you think?

Seems to me that revenues are down for everybody, yet transfer fees haven’t really reflected the decrease in income.

The figures touted for Cash are barmy. Same for Watkins. Both would find the step up a real challenge and I don’t see either making much of an impact or improve our attacking abilities sufficiently for those fees.

Me personally, I would rather we went all out on a genuine star, realistically on loan, who just oozes class and can create something out of nothing. Again, realistically probably someone in their later years but the fella at Leeds has shown what someone can do to a side for 70-80 mins.
We just need to get through the next 2-3 years at this level and we can then really settle into trying to compete with other clubs on the wages and fees.

Interesting that in that article it mentions he's played RWB for Alaves. I could see Burke coming to offer a more attacking alternative, maybe off the bench to Baldock and see how it goes from there.

I feel we need to be more assertive in going for loans, I know wilder prefers to have players who united own but really there is benefit in getting someone in who we can’t afford to buy even if it’s just for a year.

The likes of loftus cheek for example (not saying him) would be someone we couldn’t afford but is a genuine England international - with our football and finish last year you would think managers would fancy giving people to wilder

Just read this article, its couple of years old but still relevant, talks about his issues mainly and his talent. Seems he was compared to Gareth Bale when coming through as mentioned by others I like the look of this signing as I said before, if we can get the best out of him, then we have a really good player on our hands and nice that he's an international also.

Strikes me a little like the Moose signing, a player who's never really kicked on from alot of hype surrounding him, came to work under Wilder and kicked on abit, would've been more but for the injuries and personal problems and will kick on further. Wilder is a manger players should be striving to play for. Could be perfect, could be a failure, 23 years old, still has plenty of time to develop and get better. I for one are all for this transfer.

Cant decide whether this is all going to calm down as the end of the window approaches. Some of the fees and wages demanded seem ridiculous given the current environment.

A few weeks back it seemed like Cash and Robinson had been identified as the wing back cover and we'd end up signing them. Now a fee of 15m and wages of 45k have killed both deals.

The fact thst players like Burke are popping up shows we have irons in other fires but it looks like its going to be difficult to land our first choice targets unless demands get more realistic.

Fortunately we filled out biggest gap signing Ramsdale and I'd reckon a lot of rhe rest of the budget will go on a striker so we are going to have to accept the back up positions are going to be more difficult to fill. Thats probably the reason Rodwell and Jags have been given one year deals.

Also seems Burke and Matty Cash are best mates! Interesting! The article below talks about how the friendship between the two sparked rumours of bringing Burke back to Forest, maybe they will be together again but with us!

Also in twitter, seems Trabzonspor are heavily linked with him, and one person - don't know who it is , saying that Burke is one of two players they're trying to sign. I did put the article in to google translate but the headline read this:

After the deep silence, Oliver Burke entered the stomach, cleansed hand and mouth, and the short parliament was burned. The password of the safe has been entered. The facilities are under smoke.

Maybe google translate not quite as accurate as it needs to be!

Thats the final line in George Orwell's 1984 isnt it?

Everything I've read about Burke scares me. Would Toney not be a better option? At least Toney can score goals.

Everything? Even the bits about him doing well for Alaves?

I'd like Toney too in all honesty. But one is a striker, the other is a winger; so goals are fairly irrelevant.

It boils down to whether Wilder wants him for me. If so, then I'll look forward to seeing him in a Blades shirt.

I’d take Burke and £2m for Robbo. Burke is still only 22, and as good as robbo always looks in training, he’s out of his depth in prem

Not sure if anyone posted this article here, from last month. Free trials available.

In short says he's incredibly fast with skill, but struggles with positioning and tactics unless he's bottle fed instructions by a manager. Had a good spell (brief) before Brendan Rodgers left Celtic who told him exactly what to do.

Playing RWB for us might work after a lot of training sessions? I can't really remember him personally, and not YouTubed him yet.

Sounds like we’ve the perfect setup for him then.

If we cant pay 15m and 45k in the premier league then there is something seriously wrong.

We've paid 20 m
We have a wage budget ,pay one player 45 and the rest will want the same

That would be a wage bill of 54 million pounds
Our wage billnlast season was 56 because the basic pay is half that with incentivised bonuses

We finished 9th last season with this in place and could have finished higher if not for covid

Hope that clears things up enough that you can stop constantly posting the same ignorant and un informed post over and over again

This is a club that have not made a profit for some years.
Just because the income has increased don’t think there are masses of spare cash, as the wage and other costs will also have risen hugely.
When I see we have an annual surplus then I would expect £15m and 45k salary to be normal.

This whole argument of wilder getting signings wrong is a load of bollocks! So what if he has, he took us to our highest finish in decades, I've been left bemused by loads of signings but I'll never question them, cos I know fuck all compared to CWAK.
Got a like but deserves more. Wilder's transfer dealings have been unbelievably good, and that shows in the huge progress we have made

Superb article. Although I read it and have no idea where we’d play him. RWB, RCM or up front. The way he’s talked about, it’ll need to be one position and one position only if he’s to understand our system. I’m sure CWAK will have an idea.
