I don't give a toss what he puts on Instagram but something don't seem quite right to me. I can understand a bereavement knocking him for six but I have to wonder if he has a girlfriend and new baby in France and he is in Sheffield isn't that enough to cause problems. It might be just they wanted the little one to be born in France which is fair enough but either he needs to bring them over to Sheffield or he needs to move back to France families should be with families not just together at holiday time. Another thing too when I had a new born I didn't have the time or inclination to be fucking around with my mates. I can see Moose moving back to France in the next week or two, I see no future for him in Sheffield with a young family in France, training at Le Harve might be an indication of where he ends up.

Totally missed the point Hamburg Blade he was only not training and playing football games because he's supposedly in a bad place. It's like the person who calls in sick at work then you see them in the pub at lunch time. I can't make it more obvious than that.

First season after being the perennial sub at Bournemouth in front of two very good players.

He has shown an ability to frighten the life out of the biggest club in the country.

I don’t think it is reasonable to expect much more up to this point.

He’s had close friends pass away, been in lockdown in a foreign country and his partner has been pregnant, I believe back in France, during the period.

I reckon a good pre-season behind him and a bit of love from the management and he could be a very good player for us. He has all we are looking for in a striker. He reminds me of Nathan Blake to be fair.

He is very strong and robust, he’s quick and he is a good finisher with decent technique. Look at the finishes against Man U and West Ham. We also know he’s got a thunderous shot that we have yet to see the best of.

The best two strikers we have in my opinion are McBurnie and Mousset. Now that doesn’t mean they are the most effective by any means. Didzy will always have games when he can excel and Billy can still contribute. But in terms of age and athleticism, if you could get McBurnie vs Chelsea and Spurs and Mousset vs Man U and Man City away when he had in most seasons a good finish chalked off then you have some pairing.

No problem with anyone "being a maverick" if they put the work in & their output is decent.

But look at Mousset's career to see a picture of a young man unable, or unwilling to get himself fit enough to regularly play 90 minutes of football.
In fact, I don't think he played a full game for us once last season.

There seems to be a theory that a lot subscribe to that you can't judge a person by the content of their social media, but he posts - almost daily - with insights into his personal life. Why would this be completely ignored? Nobody is suggesting it gives the full picture, but it tells something...

Nobody is judging him on his social media in isolation, nor on his "owning an orange lamborghini."
But when you start adding in all of the bits & pieces; the on-field evidence (unable to get fit, oft strolling around the pitch, unable to speak the language), the off-field rumours (rifts with management, dietary issues etc), the social media posts (displays of wealth, laid back persona, always with French mates acting like he's in rap videos) then you can start to form a picture.

Others can & will interpret things differently, that's fine. I hope you guys are right & he turns things around and becomes the player we all know he can be (October/November Mousset).
Sadly, I think there is more to suggest he will struggle for fitness again next season and probably be shipped out next Summer.

Only if you're a bit of a nobber.

if people are wetting their knickers about what footballers do in their spare time these days. Knowing what footballers were doing 20/30 years ago would probably kill them.

I’d like to see a Venn diagram between these people and people who bemoan a lack of characters in the game these days.

Intelligent input. Well done.

I'm sure the Pulitzer is on its way to you for your input on this thread.

What's that saying? Never judge a book by it's cover.

If we judged you the same way you judge Moose, based on what is available to be seen on an online social platform, you would seem to be a Roy Cropper fan who at every opportunity available concern trolls in an attempt to shame a young black lad with a bit of money in his pocket for engaging with his mates.

If he started posting pictures of training or had his phone out for selfie purposes in tactical meetings with Wilder and Knill so we all know he's where he should be I'm sure that'd go down well, "shud put 'is phone daan and get bluddy trainin"...

I think the fitness thing is outside his control. You’d often see him come out at full time with an ice pack on his foot. There is something niggling that’s stopping him playing 90 mins and getting match fit.

I think a lot of the time he seems “disinterested” he is preserving energy. His game is all about quick bursts of pace to unlock defences, he can’t run around like Basham chasing every ball down as he’ll get tired pretty quickly and become a passenger.

Obviously players need to do the right things to aid recovery from an injury, namely staying off the sauce, eating well, putting the time in doing physio as well as addressing the mental side of it....maybe he hasn’t been the best at this in the past, or has been poorly managed.

Either way I don’t think it’s a simple issue of too much large haddock and not enough time in the gym.

I tried to be fairly balanced with my post. I acknowledge his clear talent & advise that I hope my perception of him & where his career is heading is wrong - but mention my opinion is based on everything I've seen of him; not just his social media, but also his on field performances (for us & for Bournemouth) and the off-field rumours which seem to circulate around him.

Why on earth you decided to bring his race into it I don't know. Completely irrelevant to our discussion & a bit odd...

Well, I might be way off on that one, but I just get the feeling that if say, Ben Osborn was pretending to be in a Nickelback video, that wouldn't get as much negative attention as Lys Mousset pretending to be in a rap video.

I think your right. I’m not criticising any of our players but if you compare the amount spent on McBurnie, his indiscretions and the amount of goals scored you wonder why the reaction to Moose.

Get whatever feelings you like, but it's a bit unreasonable to imply someone is being racist just because they criticise a black footballers attitude.

For the record, my reaction would be identical.

Were you unaware that his Dad passed? Or are you that insensitive?

Yes.
People die, it’s very sad. That’s life.
That isn’t an excuse for you to down tools and stop the world.
Lots of people lose family, it’s part of life and isn’t there to define the rest of your life. It’s more likely that nothing about how he conducts his life changed, it’s just that he then had an excuse for it.

This could mean;
  • he's back in the UK
  • wants to move back to Bournemouth
  • just misses his mate
  • his mate has moved to Sheffield and signed for us
  • the company that make the trainers he's wearing have paid him to post the picture
Or

It could mean something completely different, because we know nothing about why it was posted or when it was taken, just like the rest of his posts. (Even the stories).

Wow, you insensitive tool.

That’s it CW has fallen out with him and put him on the naughty step, which is symbolic of him being frozen out and put on the transfer list.

To be fair, if any of our players were in a Nickelback video I’d have to consider a major flounce involving ripped up season tickets at the very least.

Nickelback. Twats.

No it's not. I thought I made "the point" clear in my post - he's not been sent home because he's feeling unwell - he's been sent home to be with his friends and family to get over a bereavement, see his baby, be with his girlfriend, see his friends and come back refreshed and ready for the new season. You - and many others - are treating it as if he's got some horrible virus and should be tucked up in bed, or that he should be moping around with a long face, or posting pictures of his new-born whilst smiling with restrained decorum into the camera.
He's a young man, who's had a strange set of circumstances to deal with during the first half of this year and if I was Wilder, I would be glad to see that he seems to have recaptured some pep and fizz.
Equating it with being sent home from work with a stomach bug is where you're missing the point. Really, it's not that difficult.

"Define the rest of his life"??? He's using a bereavement as an excuse??? For what, exactly?
One of the most shameful posts I've ever seen on here.
What is it about this situation that causes people to post absolute shite? It's not as if he's even been a failure this season - or said he wants to leave - or said anything bad about the manager or the club.

Whilst you all argue about whether him hitting the ol' Instagram hard is indicitave of his disgraceful attitude, I still just want him to do a bit of cardio.
