A more considered approach, by spaffing £50k a week on a player who has never played in the Premier League and is in all likelihood a backup.

I’m so glad our management team are a bit more reserved with their spending!
 

The bitterness is unnecessary IMHO.

We simply can't afford the wages that other clubs can offer and like others, I wouldn't want us to pay those figures for this player.

Equally I don't blame the player either. We're all partisan but whilst money is clearly a factor none of us know that's the only pull. What were other clubs in for him offering for starters? What has Parker said to him about his vision for him?

And ignoring all that anyway, how many people on here would choose West Brom at 15 to 20 grand a week to Fulham at 40 to 50?
 
Fulham in doing a Fulham shocker.....

The other thing i read was that he wanted guaranteed first team football.....which was never going to wash with CW.

Did you ever watch the behind the scenes on deadline day with Chris Wilder?

We had Jerome Sinclair and Domingo's Quina all but completed with Devante Cole 90% done. We ended up with none of them.

This isn't like playing a video game.

When McBurnie got done for drink driving they fined him accordingly as per his £20k per week wages.

He said that wherever he went he wanted to be at a place where he'd be playing football. Hardy demanding guaranteed starting 11.

Embarassing how some posters are twisting things out of bitterness. Christ - we missed out on a player, it happens.

I know, I just found it hard to believe that is the be all and end all of what he is paid. Im no expert but surely premiership contracts are packed to the brim with bonuses that pile onto a regular weekly wage.

Where did I say guaranteed starting 11....?

I said guaranteed "first team football" which means first team match day squad at least......however "Playing Football" to me sounds like he wouldn't be happy providing cover to Enda, (in our case) and making do with the odd appearance from the bench......which as I said before wouldn't have gone down well with CW, well known you have to earn your place at BDTBL.

We don't know all the facts for sure, but equally, I can see why our fans are annoyed; we seemed to be the favourites for all of last week and then suddenly the £45,000 rumour comes out so its not surprising our fans put two and two together, but whether its that simple who knows. Maybe there are other factors also. Maybe Fulham have said he's likely to play in their first eleven whereas we haven't.

I'm sure he'll be a good player for Fulham, he does look decent and time to develop. I'm pleased we went in for him though, decent type that we want to improve us and young enough to improve further - just disappointing it won't be with us!

Does that video still exist - tried looking for it on youtube a few weeks ago but couldn't find it.

As I was told on here a couple of weeks ago, what they receive through PAYE - and therefore what was referenced in court - is not all they receive. So McBurnie will be on more than 20k a week.

That is true. They will also be on a bonus payment based on final league position, how far we got in cups etc etc which will almost double their basic wage. Then there are things like image rights which does get a bit shady - they get paid money to a third party which works as a limited company. This process is currently under investigation by HMRC (that is the process as a whole not specifically United).

I know these guys get paid massively but you should also see the deductions that come off - pensions in particular !! And of course PAYE @ 40% above £1k a week.
 
Can see Fulham struggling, Scott Parker is a worse version of Frank Lampard. As for Mr Robinson it’s a question of do I want to sit on the bench for 50k or for 10k possibly. Seemingly he’s made his bed Good luck to him.
 
Oh well. Seemed a bargain that was too good to be true. I've not seen much of him play so pretty won't lose any sleep. Also I think Osborn is a perfectly good backup to Enda (even if it's not his natural position).

50k a week and possible relegation or 20/25k for a thriving club that could finish top half. With no attachment to either it would be a difficult choice imo

He’s backup but not competition. If we don’t get younger competitors for the established positions then we risk falling off a cliff at some point.

People are keen for us to sign goal scorers, but I think competition for those players currently seen as irreplaceable is equally important.

Very very difficult on a small budget.
 
Would have loved for him to be here, but can't really fault him for taking those kinds of wages. Yes, we are a much better prospect than Fulham overall in terms of squad structure etc, but for someone his age those kinds of wages will win them over every time. We move on, good luck to him, until he plays against us of course!​
 
Would have been a good signing to refresh our left side and at a great price so of course we should have been in for him.
However we shouldn’t be throwing that level of money around for him being quoted.
Fulham can do their own thing, and they have the owner and backing to support it. We move on.

To me there's a difference between poor players and poor signings. If we'd have given Wilson a four year contract on £20k per week - and he sat it out on the bench, that would have been a poor signing. But bringing them in, having a look, then shifting them on with no great loss, to me anyway, does not make it poor.

In the long term it’s even more important. Looking at the sqaud other than Sander, Moose, Ramsdale and Oli Mc we don’t have any younger understudies, some of the starters (Norwood, Bash, Fleck, Enda) will have another 3 - maybe 4 good years left in them, not to mention sharp and didzy. That’s effectively our core group.

We do need to seriously start buying in or promoting younger players onto the bench. 3 seasons seems like a long time but It may take them a year or so to settle in to the unique way we play. I’m almost certain wilder has this covered, I hope.
 
We've still got RND coming through so one more season of Enda bombing down the wing will do us just fine and then maybe RND coming through for the season after to challenge more, hopefully with this season on loan again.
