Fulham haven't been in any financial mess have they? Thought they were well run?

The only lessons they had to learn last time was to buy better players.

The problem with Fulham last time is that they more or less brought a brand new first XI and sidelined the players that had won them promotion, too many changes and the majority of players they bought probably werent good enough

Not just to do with the money, big issue was taking a good side that went up and completely pissing most of them off by tearing it up for a load of players taking a pay day. the players they brought in weren't on the whole bad players... harmony shot to pieces. If they're paying this kid what's rumoured it's mental again from them and suggests that they may go down a route that suggests they haven't learnt their lesson. I'd be stunned if we offered owt over 20k a week, so why not just offer 30k...

Fulham have the London (and some other ) clubs mentality that if you don’t pay a lot of money for a player (either transfer fee Or wages) they won’t be any good! We’ve shown in the past that’s not true (look at most of our squad) but now we’re in the PL it seems that as soon as we are interested in a player the agents are onto it and touting round other clubs who are prepared to out bid us in fees or wages. Looks like we’ve lost Tonee, Swift, Cash and May be even Ramsdale now. Bit depressing and frankly rather worrying that we are outbid by a poxy little freshly promoted club like Fulham.

£50,000 a week on a player who wont be first choice from a newly promoted is insane in the membrane however you look at it

If Fulham see him as their new first choice left back, then I don't see it as insane, probably a little bit high but not crazy considering the fee is peanuts.

While I agree with the sentiment that it's not a mad fee/wage when combined together, he's going to be someway behind Joe Bryan you'd think.

They’re not in any financial mess because they’ve got a rich as fuck owner and Premier League money

Got to factor in the wage structure at the club too (either Fulham are paying lots of their squad 50k+p/w, or they just don't give a fuck about squad harmony). 50k would make a back-up LWB comfortably our highest earner - at which point we either have to hand out improved contracts or just have a pissed off dressing room.

Fair enough point, but personally speaking if I was on circa 20k p/w I'd be enjoying the fact that I'm on that much.

I wouldn't give a toss how much anyone else is on, that's between them and the club.

Agreed, Fulham's average wage will more than likely be a lot higher than ours. I'm not suggesting we pay Robinson £50k, I'm just saying Fulham paying him £50k isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Long term I believe we will start paying wages of £50k and above, which I have no issue with. We've got one of the best manager in the Premier League, we shouldn't be scared to back him with big player wages.

That's not how life works, certainly not how footballers/agents work.

Gutted if we miss out but fulham have silly money to spend. We will never compete with 50k but we play a better system for him and there is a good chance he could make the spot his own.

We know enda is more than good enough for the prem and we have cover already in this position. Maybe its wiser to spend the money elsewhere (midfield)

Which is fine if Robinson for example asked for 25k a week... but to put him on 50k... 100% not worth it

I think you might be in the minority there. If I worked at a company where someone "less important" than me (a backup player vs a starter, in this case) was on more money - and possibly twice as much money, for that matter - I'd be pissed off and want to know why that was the case.. But fair enough, that's your feelings on it.

All footballers are different. Some will care about the wages of teammates, others won't.

The vast majority would care if some kid has walked in and is suddenly getting paid x2, x3, x4 what regular 1st team players who've dragged the clubs off it's arse are paid... and rightly so.

I'm disappointed because he's a good player & one I really hoped we go for. He's exactly the right profile for what we should be targeting & I think he'd have dispossessed Enda Stevens within a season or so.

However, & I know some disagree, I think he disrespected our offer with that weird "come and get me" statement after the media were suggesting he was coming to us.

He clearly didn't fancy the move here & my assumption is that was financially driven. It's hard to believe it was a footballing decision as we're a more established club in this division with a track record of improving players. Better manager. Bigger club. & our system is made for wing backs.
There he must compete with Joe Bryan (one of their better players whose stock has never been higher) here - Enda Stevens, older & finished the season poorly.

Shame, but we move on. This club isn't going to stand still under Wilder. In my opinion this is his loss.
