Sheffield derbies... are you missing them?

They were more entertaining when Wendies actually tried to turn up and play. They were woefully lacking in any ambition the last 3 outings, small club stuff.

The only entertainment was them starting two seasons telling us how we'd get smashed and then seeing them turn up to the Lane to play for a draw, and then going crazy celebrating a 0-0 while we wandered off to the Prem. The games themselves were dire.

No, easy bragging rights for us.

The only way they could get them back is being above us in the league system or doing us in the cup.

Seriously, hate them. With all my being. Even when we've been in the ascendancy, the sense of doom that descends in the week prior is horrible.

I saw the thread title and laughed out loud.

I've a pal who supports Celtic, who desperately wants Rangers to " just disappear".

For years I've argued that the rivalry is what keeps it interesting.

Half way through last year he says to me, " missing Wednesday?"

It's fair to say he's win the argument. If they didn't exist, it wouldn't bother me tbh

That’s fine but leeds isn’t a derby, no more so than Manchester City, Forest, Derby, etc.
It's a Yorkshire derby surely?? Anyway, whatever...it's always a bit tasty with a decent atmosphere (not that atmosphere's are relevant at the moment). Still good for bragging rights though - I like being top dog in Yorkshire

I don't mind it. It's like a derby lite. It's got a bit of bite and needle to it but it's not really hanging over for weeks before or after. The atmosphere is always decent and as you say it's a bit tasty.

I think it's a game we both want to win but theres only the odd work mate to take the piss out of so it's forgot about pretty quickly.

For any Blade who lives in Leeds however, I bet it's a nightmare

Anywhere in N Yorks. Worse than a nightmare.

Not in a million years will I miss them, hate the entire build up, the sleepless night before and the day

I’m still fuming to an extent that Blackwell didn’t go for their throats when we had them at 3 at half time. That HT I convinced myself this was Boxing Day ended, they only just escaped going in 4 down when cotts had that chance

even with bouncing day I still can’t get over that chance to really bury them

Like a few others have said, the last 3 0-0 outings were embarrassing. Embarrassing for them to be playing 11 men behind the ball for 90 minutes and embarrassing for us as we just could not break them down.

I would imagine any game we play now would be exactly the same.

I agree it’s great to whip them but Yorkshire derby? It’s about as daft as that Palace/Brighton nonsense. Just because the city at the centre of the universe only has one football team is definitely a good enough reason not to call it any sort of derby.

You can blame McGoldrick for one of those.

I miss seeing their sad, bitter, envious pig like faces staring on at us and our team, wishing upon all wishes they could be in our shoes....then reality hits, that there just a shit team, with a shit ground run by a crook whose sole purpose is to take the fans for everything they've got, which....is fuck all.......and then they go home to there sty, and grunt at their pig spouses. So in a word.........no

I work in Leeds and the week to week place-swapping with them in the promotion season was 'orrible - glad it had a happy ending.
They seem to have a respect for what we've achieved though due to their messiah being an outspoken admirer of Wilder and I think there are parallels to be drawn between the two teams. I'm sure any goodwill will soon disappear though.

..........................No, not really, it's all fun, but gloating is far better....

The best for everyone is if we establish ourselves in the Prem for a very long time and they slosh about in the mid table backwaters of League One.

However, I do hope we get them in the FA Cup 3rd round.

The new season might be the last time they see the 3rd round for a while 😁

As exciting as the build up to derbies have been, the last few haven't lived up to expectation but I suppose that makes up for the one that surpassed them!
For as long as we're in the Premier League, we don't want to be playing them, unless they were to come up and be as crap as Derby or Huddersfield which would be bloody entertaining after inevitably giving it the big 'un about how great they are .

Have 100 million likes. Our derby is against Wednesday. The rest are just matches.

“Yorkshire derby”? Get the fuck away with yourselves. It’s not a derby, despite the media trying to hype the shit out of it.

12-13 years on and still fuming? You’ve gotta let it go mate😀.

Only joking, I know what you mean. I was absolutely buzzing at half time that night, not only because we were 3 0 up but knowing it was an opportunity to blast them into oblivion and we missed that chance.

I’d got over it until you mentioned it and now you’ve ruined my weekend. Thanks for nothing buddy
