We need a couple of these deals to start landing soon, there's less than 6 weeks until the start of the season. I know Wilder knows what he's doing, and ordinarily he would walk away if he feels like our pants are being pulled down, but we have a smaller squad of players now, and time is of the essence. He may just have to concede and pay them closer to what they're asking for.

I've no idea, but I suspect this one is pretty much there, just we can't do a medical etc. because he's come back from Spain.

Im sure Bettis will know exactly what the price is to get this lad, and the breaking £4m bid has probably been made a while back.

Can't help but think that Reading are trying to get the price up by trying to get other clubs interested, whilst the agent will also probably be playing silly buggers.

Might have to play a game of brinkmanship and tell the Reading board the final offer is x and you have a deadline of y. After that, the offer no longer stands and we have moved on. See if Reading suddenly accept our offer. The player will also probably be very keen to move to SUFC has he will think he has a good chance of first team football for a PL side. I'm sure he won't be very happy if Reading or his agent are starting to jeopardise a potential move to a PL club.

Still think this will happen, but it is starting to get to the 'shit or get off the pot' stage for this transfer. We don't have the time to fuk around as we need new incoming players to be semi settled and integrated with the squad.

Need to make it happen. All signings need to be with us at the start of training and pre season not like Berge coming in to late and needing gradual introduction.
We need freshening up from the off based on our last three performances.

PANIC! When do I stop?

I know we dont want to "overpay' but if this lad is premiership quality we shouldn't be surprised Reading want more than 4m for him, should we ?

The journalist who was first to report our interest has said

"It sounds like Mr Dai does not want to sell. So I guess unless a silly fee comes in then Reading will fight tooth and nail to keep him. Remember the transfer window doesn’t close for another two months so this one could run on for quite a while yet at the rate it’s going!"

" When the big clubs come calling.... "

They should be handing him over for nowt.

Who's panicking? I'm not panicking.

Come on Reading you wankers. Fkin play ball

When the Prem clubs come calling........................bla bla bla. Well that's what Kev used to tell us

"But the truth is until you are back in the Premier League, if a Premier League club comes along and wants one of your players... if someone can give me the answer of how you keep them. I think most supporters realise that our desire is not to sell a David Brooks - obviously a youngster with immense talent - or a Dominic Calvert-Lewin. But when the big dog comes knocking...”

Yep, things would have been so much better had we kept Brooks and Calvert-Lewin instead of doing what we did with the money got from selling them 🤔

I don't think Swift walks into our starting XI and instantly improves us. If Reading think they can get daft money, let them chase it. £40m losses puts the in breach of FFP. Bit daft of them to think they can hold onto players if there's Prem interest.

Guess the question is how much will Reading agree to before we get to our next target that is better value than Swift, or maybe if we're gonna pay more than we want to we can get better. I can't see Wilder waiting forever either. I do like the look of Swift though, I feel for him if h doesn't get his move because there's no way Reading are going up next season.

I’m getting sick and tired of all these lower league teams that seem to repeatedly keep turning down fairly low bids for their key players. This isn’t how these things work. Acceptable behaviour would be:
  • Accept the bid immediately
  • Try and hold out for more money, but then actually accept the original bid
  • Negotiate loaning a young player in return, level of ability unimportant
  • Negotiate potentially loaning youngsters in the future, which can be marketed to fans as “first choice for loaning up and coming players” without actually ending up with anyone on loan
  • Negotiate a money-spinning friendly at your home ground

I know you was being cynical, but I was nodding my head to every one of those bullet points. Each one used by our previous esteemed squadron leader.

Wilder will offer what he thinks a players is worth.
If that team thinks he's worth more then he will simply move onto the next target.

Bit like Luke Freeman last year this, started off with £3m they wanted £8m ended up £5m

We'll see how serious Wilder is about him I guess, my view he's decent back up only.
