Removing the poles on the kop will certainly involve an extension at the same time. There's no way they're about to take the roof off and build a new one without expanding the kop.

The roof on the Lane end wasn’t replaced when the poles were removed, it was extended.

The Kop roof is newer and I would think the same is possible.

My guess is that we might add some boxes to the SS if we survive next season.
Let's see if the Club prefers your advice and extends the SS & Kop whilst there are no spectators.
They might want you to pay for it though.

The risk of relegation is the same next season and the one after that and forever. No matter how much we progress on the field, we're one bad season away from being back in the championship. We must aspire to grow the club and therefore the fan base whilst the going is good. For all of McCabe's flaws, he understood that.Fair enough, they may not be able to afford it this season with the training ground work (also a priority) and plans to purchase a new site for the academy (another great off field ambition), but this idea that we have to wait until there's not a risk of relegation or a need to invest in the first team squad is ridiculous. There will always be a risk and there will always be a need for investment in the squad.
And that's fine. I'll happily pay more if it means I actually stand a chance of getting a season ticket in future, because as I'm sure you know, they're currently sold out following us selling 25,000+ during the early bird price window last season.

The main question I have is, as some others have asked, does the pillars removal include an extension of the Kop? Surely if it did, it would say Kop extension and pillar removal, as the extension is as big, if not a bigger deal than the removal of the pillars. Makes me wonder it it is just the removal of the pillars but that would seem a missed opportunity to me.

On the other hand, I recall the recent power struggle over the land behind the Kop referring in the Club Statement of fears that McCabe's plan to build behind the Kop would prevent the Kop from having the pillars removed or would delay it - see article beneath. If the pillars removal would be affected by the potential build behind the Kop by McCabe, then surely the plans by the Club for the Kop must intend to go further back - extended - which would possibly be prevented by any build behind the Kop - by McCabe, as indicated in the statement by the Club.

As much as I'd love to spaff off at the sight of a giant kop I'd say the training facilities come first. I think Wilder's comments have made that much clear. To be honest I'd happily defer to CW on any of these matters.
Last week I heard that we're buying the old site up derbyshire lane to build an academy whereas Shirecliffe will be repurposed for first team only. Any truth to this?

Well it’s been reported the intention is to remove the posts immanently, so we’ll find out soon enough.

Derbyshire Lane? Do you mean Norton aerodrome or the Warminster road university playing fields?

Isn't one of the Kop site that Mccabe owns basically where the John Street corner bar and entrance are? Effectively meaning without the purchase the expansion has to go ahead before Mccabe either sells us the land or starts developing the land himself.

I dont recall that it was, and i cant see how it would work given the buildings directly behind and the double height corporate boxes to the back.

The JSS seemed to be focused on providing then much needed corporate facilities, at the expense of maximum capacity.

It is a smart looking stand though, albeit on the small side.

Kop and SS are obviously the areas where expansion is most feasible.

I just prefer the Kop as it is now.

How would the facilities be better than Liverpool’s Kop? I’ve not been on their Kop, so I’m genuinely interested to know.

Just looking at the photos of their Kop, they have entrances to the concourses on more than one level which suggests they have more toilets and kiosk etc. but I don’t know.

Agreed ,we stayed in the hotel in the ground when Adkins lost the plot for us ,what a shit weekend ,3-0 defeat nothing anywhere near the ground apart from the built in casino. Also went to see Springsteen (who was amazing) but would never ever go again for a concert ,didnt get out of Cov for 3 hours despite it being next to a motorway.
The old ground was great and well positioned however Coventry really is the worst place ever for a night out.

No we're not as ive said conuntless times that land is designated housing land unless some big money comes from SUFC and a land swap.

any work you've seen up there has been to remove the asbestos and structually unsafe buildings, thats why the car learner and morotorbike school were removed from site.

its not even the most viable site for an academy there is plenty of cheaper land with better transport links in sheffield.

Woodbourn rd/attercliffe area is just one that could be redeveloped (proximity to motorway/tram and bus network etc close to eis and sheffield university sports programme)

It's a spoil heap with concrete on top, there isn't anything underneath it but old spoil. There was concrete covering the Kop back in the days of WW2 so it should have been evident if anything had a fallen there, just like it was evident that something did fall on the JSS as it was flattened by the Luftwaffe!

As for the bomb in the 80s (match v Oldham being postponed) it was found on Lancing Road which is the road parallel to Shoreham Street.
