Will he go for experience? or a young head like himself?

id like too see someone who's been in the game a while.

any thoughts?

Dean Saunders mentioned on RS...

Can't see him leaving Wrexham and the Welsh assistant manager's post however.

Do you think they may bring in a Director of Football? Maybe the reason it wasn't announced today, although I have just seen that Gary Speed is flying out to Spain to talk to McCabe and Birch before the announcement, so perhaps I'm reading more into it than there actually is.

This is an interesting thing to ponder but I cant see anything being announced on an assistant until at least the end of the week. Ive heard Robbie Savage mentioned which would be quite funny but cant see that. I reckon its more likely to be someone Speedo has played with a club level. As SEB said, maybe a McAllister but I cant see him wanting to be a no.2 me sen....

Maybe someone like Steve Clarke, who I think played with Speed at Newcastle (can anyone confirm that?) and will also be well known to Trevor Birch from Chelsea. He wouldn't be cheap but he would offer loads of experience and is out of work at the moment I think.

Id like to see someone with experience given the role.

Venables, Taylor, Bassett?

Mark Pembridge who is at Fulham at the mo. That's according to a mate of mine from the City.

It's going to be that useless know-nowt William Hill "pundit" Savage, isn't it?

Confirmed on OS, Ellis will stay with the club and continue in his role as Assitant Manager.

Not exactly;

"Going forward, Sam will continue to play a role with Sheffield United"

the key being 'a role', otherwise it would surely have said 'continue in his role as assistant manager'.

From OS...

Sam Ellis has been asked by Gary to stay in position and Gary will also appoint his own coach within the next few days.
