I've often stuck up for the bloke in the past. But yesterday he was a complete liability. I lost count of the number of times he fell over and gave the ball away. Watching him was more entertaining than the game itself

To be fair to Monty, not many others played better than him. I would say Ward was our best player, the others were all on a par. I think it's harsh to single out Monty after yesterday

To be honest, people would blame Monty if he was injured and not in the team and we lost.
I think the floods in Pakistan and our lack of a summer weather wise is his fault too  oh and Englands failure in the world cup as well :D

Without wanting to start ANOTHER Monty debate, it was clear to me yesterday that something was drastically wrong when Monty and Morgs appeared to be going through the motions in the 2nd half. On a positive note, I was impressed with Kyle III's attitude, he seemed to be the one trying to get everyone going.

i'm in no way blaming monty for the defeat, just pointing out that he was incapable of staying upright nearly every time he got the ball. i don't think any player can be satisfied with their "performance" yesterday.

Think how much worse it could have been without our back four shield specialist.

So why just pick out Monty?
Why not say, they were all rubbish and incapable if they were all just as bad???

if anyone deserves a mention for been a bad player in a united shirt its Taylor. The bloke doesnt understand the meaning of left back, amount of time he goes missing is unbelievable. More of the time hes stood trying to hold Morgans hand he drfits to far in and leaves the left wide open. No reason 3 out of the 4 goals we have conceded have come from his side. Not good enough unfortunatly!

I've defended Taylor in the past but thought his positional play was poor yesterday, Ertl was just as bad on the other side hence the oceans of space they got for their goals.

One pass in the first half had me fuming. near the right wing i think it was cresswell he tried to pass 5 yards to & gave the ball away to howls of dirision from the KOP.

However every player was poor yesterday not just Monty.

i singled out monty because i said i had often stuck up for him in the past but he was woeful yesterday. Others like quinn and taylor were absolute shite yesterday but i have never stuck up for them in the past.

Monty is an easy target and i think that is harsh. But yesterday he looked like playing in graves park was his level.

IT IS! Some of us have been saying it for years. The penny is finally beginning to drop.

Monty and Elpiton were cruelly exposed by decent footballers as the mediocre plodders they always have been. The myth is over. Time to move on.

Like that plodder Harper. (is he airborn yet?).

We were very weak in the middle of the park in general, and although Monty didn't have the best of games, he was our strongest player there imo. As usual he never gave up, didn't shy away from a tackle and was one of the only players who could come out of that game with any credit.

Ward and Bartley were the only ones who kept going yesterday, particularly in the 2nd half, the rest just wanted to be as far away from the ball as they could be.

I have no interest in Hull City players Boo. My concern is that two non-footballers continue to occupy shirts in our midfield.

Did Monty break up play against QPR (or even Hartlepool for heavens sake); did he protect the back four? Or was he [and his clueless mate Elpiton] utterly and completely outclassed?

Let us hope our new manager sees sense.

Monty totally failed to shield the back four. Why he wasn't under instruction to do that I've no idea, but it was clear he was breaking forward and leaving the QPR players to collect loose balls and run at Morgan and Bartley.

Yes he was awful, but I thought the tactics were wrong.

Well JD, the scriptwriter has, thankfully, gone. Some of his characters will inevitably be written out of the plot by a more creative writer. At least 3 should never appear in another episode in my view (The third is Taylor in case anyone doubted it).

nnaaahhh.. i don't blame monty for everything.. just everything i don't blame quinn for

Must admit I'd half expected to see a new, stronger, more confident Taylor this season. Sadly there's no sign as yet. :(

Wait till his move to Billingham Synthonia JD - he'll look the part then right enough.

Only one way to decide this.....BERGO, your audience awaits.

I'm pretty sure Bergo will have had some sort of seisure after that first half.

If it helps, 1st goal seemed to be a player running down the left side unopposed. 2nd, from a cross by the left winger in acres of space. 3rd, poor goalkeeping from a not particularly hard shot from the very lonely (did he have AIDS or something?) left winger.
Playing without a RB can seriously damage your results.

Strange how no one mentioned Monty's cross that was pinpoint accurate onto Creswell's head, that he headed over.

(I wasn't at the match so can't comment on a lot of the game, but just thought i'd mention that as It was on the Football league show 'highlights')

I think if Gary Speed; if he's made manager, persists with Monty and Quinn every game as his main midefiled pairing then we have very little to look forward in terms of wanting to see more attractive football.

One thing I would say, is what the people who complain about the style of play we have adopted, yet still want Monty in the side, have no right at all to complain.

If we want to be a footballing side, and stop the hoofball, then the reality is that players like Monty and Morgan cannot be in the side.

We can love Monty as much as we can, but the lad cant, and never has been able to play football.

The days of our players being able to give 100%, and graft, yet not play football, need to end. Monty is that.

Quinn
Monty
Morgan

All need to go if we want to move forward, as all three are key reasons why we play the way we do. Yet for some reason, all three have been given new contracts.

You've only come back cos we've resigned Kozluk! :D

Very very true, but the best football we've played in recent years - the play-off semi finals - both men were in there, but part of a three. I really hoped at the time that we'd learn from that pattern of play.

Hey ho.
