Has there been any conclusion to the drama behind Verrips? It's barely been mentioned anywhere.

In the preview for the MC match, Saturday's Guardian said "Injured: Moore, groin (unknown)." Presumably they mean it's the cause that's unknown but to be honest the details of your groin injury are sometimes best kept private.

If we are putting him on the bench , then surely we think he is eligible to play.
I hope we have checked his status (and our right to play him) with the FA / EPL , and have received their assurances in writing that we are not risking any kind of points sanction.

Far as I know there didn't seem to be an eligibility problem, it was that his former club felt entitled to some form of compensation.

They have no issue with us, it's with Verrips. The investigation isn't into us.

Don't know if they're trying to garner his wages or something, or whether they want a sell on putting into his next contract. Can't see how they can have no issue with us yet get a fee from us.

Weren’t we initially going to pay a fee for him and then changed our mind when we realised we could get him in a free. I would imagine it has been looked into at length by us.

I would also imagine that we could settle on a fee even if Mechlen were due one now.

I can help with this.

Verrips left Mechelen at around 15.14 and took the train to Brussels. From there he was seen boarding the Eurostar to London St Pancras. It is believed he arrived in St Pancras around 17.30 pm and went in the station pub, The Betjeman Arms, around 17.31 and supped 7 pints before boarding the 18.02 to Sheffield, calling only at Leicester, Derby and Chesterfield, along the way. He arrived in Sheffield at 20.02 and went in the Sheffield Tap on Platform 1 and supped 7 more pints before heading off to Dempsey's about 10pm. What happened next is no-one's business, not even the FIFA!

Does anybody know what the latest opinion is of Verrips' role in the squad? He seems to have all the attributes and is obviously someone we sought for and we're willing to fight to get, is he measuring up? Are we looking at our eventual number 1 when Henderson presumably returns to Old Trafford longer term (as much as I don't want him to).
