Apologies for rehashing - but I am trying to pull together a "tongue in cheek" quiz for my team, where every answer is Sheffield United - whilst trying to portray us as positively as possible. My current list is:

On 14 October 1878, the first floodlit football game in the world was at which EPL team’s ground?
Created in 1889, which was the first football club to be called “United”?
The oldest football club in the world played home games at which EPL team’s ground?
In January 1927, the first ever football game broadcast live (on BBC) was between Arsenal and which football team?
In August 1992, which team scored the first Premier League goal? (and who scored it?)
And which team scored the first Premier League penalty? (and who scored it?)
Of all the football teams based in the historic county of Yorkshire, which has won the FA Cup most times?
Which team had the first Premier League red card overturned by VAR? (and who was it?)
[Do we really play at the oldest professional sports stadium in the world - as announced at every game?]

I think the 'first United' needs to be changed to read 'the first club to be called United that are still in existence'.

Bramall Lane used for Lawn tennis, FA Cup Final, International football matches, Boxing matches, First ever derby match (?), Test cricket, Rock concerts, rugby league matches, county cricket matches, religious conventions. The list is endless.

The FA, the club and the city should be making more of 'Bramall Lane the true home of football.'

Now we are in the Premier league and receiving world wide coverage there should be pilgrimages of football fans to see where the beautiful game really started.

Unbelievable potential.

And just up the road at Portland Works is where stainless steel was invented. Most cities would give their right arm for that heritage.

Joint worst by both measures* and it's not really a first. You can have first side to lose a penalty shootout in a playoff final where every player on the pitch took a spot kick.

I think the third point is correct. Jones and Birchenall to Leeds and Chelsea respectively.

I believe Field Mill (Mansfield) is older than BDTBL. When they got relegated to the Conference we adopted the tagline "oldest professional ground in the world", but now they're back in the league and Sinclair's still calling BDTBL that.

Same year, they were the first winners of the Charity Shield.
Nudger Needham was the first professional to captain England. He instigated the amateur players being allowed to eat with the professionals too.
Amazingly, when they purchased George Uttley from Barnsley for 4K in 1914,it was a world record fee!

I believe we were the first team to lose an FA Cup final to a non league team vs Spurs in 1901. Was the battle of Bramall Lane also a record, or have other games been abandoned for the same reason?
I believe we were the first team to play in Germany post war, and pioneering with a lot of our pre season tours and foreign scouting too.

Battle of Bramall Lane was definitely the first to be abandoned for lack of players. Not sure whether that’s ever or just in England.

Yeah I Googled it afterwards (obviously that was the saying I was aiming at). I read an article about 10 years ago which stated the ad campaign would include a line up of people with one blacked out who'd gone for a Burton('s) but as you say there doesn't seem to be any physical evidence for this. I prefer this explanation and think it more likely than the Burton tailor's one but evidence is needed. I would've thought the local papers of the time would've held this if it were there.
